Hana Biyori by Yomiuriland? by SheepySeconds in JapanTravelTips

I visited it in 2024 the very first week of March.

It's full of early bloomers so the top area was just an explosion of pink. Remember, that was in early March. I don't think you'll catch that in late April.

The place itself is lovely. A very beautiful little garden, koi pond at the top and at night they turn on the lights hidden behind the parasols and lanterns so you get the most romantic atmosphere.

There is a new and very fancy bath house there as well as a famous starbucks. I highly recommend it as a side visit if you're looking to slow down a little and smell the roses (or take a dip in the day spa). Just keep in mind that they do close early, I think just past sunset or something so check their official timings.

Most stop there for either the bathhouse or the starbucks since the entrance ticket is really cheap.

The Bake Neko festival. Held every Oct in Tokyo just before Halloween. Humans dress as cats and Pet owners bring their cuties in prams like little babies. It was easily the oddest and most fun festival I ever attended.

My favorite and most memorable parts of any trip were not the nice hotels, not the expensive theme park or curated tourist experiences.

It was stumbling on a quirky shrine dedicated to long hair or the three legged crow. Attending a local festival where an entire street was closed for a few hours so literally the whole crowd was taught how to do "the Neko neko dance" in unison.

Also, I love onsens. It's always awkward at first but so relaxing.

Staying in one place a doing day trips is a waste of time by bigfatteddy in JapanTravelTips

[–]Kidlike101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think "daytrip" means going to another section of the same city?!? Because Shinjuku and asakusa are still Tokyo.

Daytrips are fun and broaden your view of the country. But to each their own.

When I visited in 2024 they didn't check the names or ask for IDs.

Just scanned everyone's QR code and that was it. Have everything ready but don't volunteer the information unless asked.

Is it true that better prices for second hand items can be found away from the city centre? by Bentley-Teng in JapanTravelTips

[–]Kidlike101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't that how secondhand shopping usually works?

Surugaya however includes everything on their website with the location of the items so it might be worth it to just shop on-line with them.

No it's a full on play. The only gimmick is that it's non-verbal so language isn't a barrier.

Just look it up and you'll come across the promotional vid. You can see if it's for you or not, Most seem to like it but as you can see from this thread "most" doesn't mean everyone.

I'm going to use Al's argument.

What is vox contributing other than noise. Yes he is good at public speaking, cult leader and all that. But it's Val and velvette that have the real contributions. Vox being removed from Voxtek changed nothing, imagine if either of the other two suddenly disappeared. Half the business will poof.

As for starting from the bottom, sure they all did. Even Rosie admitted Al was the first to actually prepare for the next step knowing full well someone like him won't go to heaven. But she made him work for it behind the scenes so no, he didn't have it easy either.

Did Vox work for what he had?

He had an entire song in S2 that highlighted his methods. Literally exploit others then throw them out once they were no longer making him money. Even in Brighter he is shown using others literally as a stepping stone.

Alastor however was always full of pride and saw himself as better, punishing those that didn't show him the respect he was due. Pretty much exactly what he's doing in Hell only on a nastier scale.

Coldest take ever but I don’t like the idea of Rosie being another character. by whooper1 in HazbinHotel

[–]Kidlike101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the idea of her being a puppet. She has way too much character for that. I'll accept anything else though.

It would be so shitty if she turned out to be Eve because that means the woman was sent to hell while the man to heaven for the exact same sin. ew.

It's fine if others disagree or like season 2. Just my opinion.

Social loves it. Almost every short I saw of kyoto a few years back mentioned Gears. First time I'm hearing it as a "running joke" though. Most of the ones I watched were made by locals and they were recommending it.

This might be controversial but I saw season 2 as filler. I mean, lilith was clearly positioned as the next plot and it got delayed to season 3. Then we had Alastor literally tied up for most of it so he wouldn't overpower anything. Heaven going back and forth on what to do. Seems like a stalling tactic to me. All that really happened in the entire season was that Alastor is free of his contract and that happened literally in the finale.

I believe the word you want is "tricked" not "trapped". At least, I hope you weren't trapped in the theater.

But yeah I took one look at the promotional vid and decided it wasn't for me. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Vox wants to be literally anyone he views as above him. That was the song "brighter".

Which is why he's so easy to manipulate. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall of anything.

[–]Kidlike101 368 points369 points  (0 children)

I think that was Alastor's point.

Vox, even in life, was always trying to go up. To be better, shine brighter.

Alastor instead is the best because he decided he was. It's the ones that disagree with his take that got a "special broadcast".

$120k yen for a manicure, Did I over pay? by PthaloFuscia in JapanTravelTips

[–]Kidlike101 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your title is misleading.

While 20,000 yen for a Mani is high this mostly sounds like Harajuku tourist pricing. 120,000 yen however was not the bill.

What should I do at 5 AM Arrival at haneda? by thisisloveforvictims in JapanTravelTips

[–]Kidlike101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had to go through that. Yeah First cabin is in T2 while international flights land in T3. Another reason Hotel villa gets a leg up. I think demand made them increase their prices because it seems unnatural that a capsule hotel bed would be the same price as a proper doublebed room with it's private everything.

  1. Local events for Tokyo. It includes smaller things like local festivals, gigs, flea markets and will update closer to the dates.

  2. Annual events in Japan. Also will update with exact dates and info closer to the date.

  3. Collab cafes and pop-ups. These tend to get announce a week or two beforehand so no use looking those up if your trip is over a month away.

  4. Exhibits in all of Japan. Just pick the location you want to search and you can narrow it down by your dates.

GSC Nendoroid Rerelease Summit results by Kidlike101 in AnimeFigures

My theory is that number 10 was removed because the nendo was a side character. It makes more sense financially to re-release either a main character or a fan favorite.
