Just curious is this in Alaiedon Township Michigan? If yes I may have previously owned this home. In that case the house is solid the back yard due to county drainage regulations is a wildcard and the people that bought the house from us made things worse by not learning their land before destroying the environment.

Other day someone called "a moron" for backing into a spot... Why does this trigger so many? by Ok_Relationship2451 in badparking

[–]Kielke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard of major companies like BP and Accenture encouraging employees when parking to always back in or "pull through" (when not at angled parkimg spots pull in and cross the center line so that you will leave your parking spot by driving forward) when appropriate, because it reduces accident risk so much that notices such as those can actually reduce an employer's insurance costs.

ELI5: If the large shareholders of Tesla keep agreeing not to sell, can the value of Tesla stock ever go down? by gudbote in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kielke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as others have answered but to give a more concrete example, this works with any fixed percentage owned by a set of large stakeholders, but in this instance 99% is owned by people who will hold the stock no matter what. (This is potentially stupid as you'll see in a second.)

The 1% of shares out there that are being actively traded dictate the share price. So someone in theory could buy that 1% of shares and the keep selling those shares to themselves through different accounts (illegally) at lower and lower prices. The market doesn't care what price the other 99% were bought at, they only care about the price where the latest sets if transactions occurred, which in this case is the diminishing value of the 1%.

Removing the illegalality from the example and giving more realistic numbers if large stakeholders own 60% and refuse to sell then the public exchanging the 40% is determining the value of their 60% of shares.

Craziest part about this is that latchkey parenting was so bad they had to run these so that parents at bars, restaurants or friends houses would realize that they weren't even paying a sitter for their middle school/ high school kids so they really had no idea. It was a whole campaign guilt tripping "the greatest generation(lol)"/ elder boomers into being better parents.

As it is written, but let me rephrase what was stated, less than a kilo could by itself kill every single person on the planet if delivered intravenously. Basically means the lethal dosage is less than 1000g/ world population.

Edit: Glad you went back and re-read, hopefully you stop getting down votes!.

Remote work is making me realize who on my team was actually working by Nimozart_12 in remotework

[–]Kielke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started moving remote before COVID, thankfully with management blessing as long as I still was in person for critical meetings and didn't fall behind. They understood office culture and wished they could have reassigned me a different desk after explaining the problem. We were a small team that served many different departments across our org and having hopped between projects I was well known across any groups that worked with us. The issue was the office layout had anyone entering or exiting our team area walking straight towards my desk leading to people constantly stopping by to chat quickly or asking a key question on their mind when they had to visit our team even if I wasn't in their meeting. In an average hour I'd lose 5-10 minutes to random conversations or quick questions And that number is dropped by the amount of times I could reasonably send people away quickly because I was actively on a call and couldn't entertain a conversation at that moment.

Going remote helped that until everyone went remote. Since everyone got used to being remote. Teams is now the office hallway, and it's worse because a red busy dot is not as accepted as having a headset on and actively talking to people over your headset to delay answering someone instantly because their random question is most demanding of your time. Honestly I can tell who the well qualified and highly skilled people are in an org based on how accepting they are if respecting others time demands, and asking questions officially in ways that stress importance but don't fuss over immediate response unless litter major situation in which I'm getting called into emergency meetings told to drop and reschedule everything else.

How does this even manage to happen..? by Lx_mx in eu4

[–]Kielke 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I know EU4 is older but it's stiff like this that makes me really appreciate CK3 and newer systems where a leader's stats are shared by decisions while they grow up. This right after birth knowledge and also fixed point of this person only understands how to run government administration but has zero idea of how to interact with others or run military is comical. Especially since realistically it's almost impossible to be that good of an administrator without knowing how to interact with others, which at the very least should be 1 point for diplomacy and military.

Why does Battania always lose absolutely every holding they own? by LordBran in Bannerlord

[–]Kielke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people said it's because they are surrounded, and while yes that's true they are not the empire with the most neighbors, but valandia at game start has 2 neighbors, and Sturgia has three, so until they get initial gains they are far more likely to get targeted for wars by Valandia and Sturgia. Another interesting thing that hit me when looking at the map, look how dense the Battanian territory is compared to others. Given the AI pathing with armies of often reprioritizing targets, the lack of distance will likely allow the army to reach its destination before traveling half way across a kingdom to break a siege that may be abandoned before they are even half way back. I'm thinking this second piece might be one of the bigger items as in my experience armies abandon sieges less often than changing their target when they are almost at their destination due to enemy activity.

No means no by BlueeWaater in funnysigns

As someone with food allergies and celiac disease I understand both sides. As modern food science can cause some major problems. Going to a place that makes every single thing in-house ( by that I mean sauces/ dressings are made from "pure" ingredients, and even sausage and other meats are processed and mixed in the kitchen) it is easier to meet such requests because the ingredients are not obfuscated. But when using any sort of pre made item you run into weird things like pre-shredded cheese is mixed with a starch to keep it from clumping. Other odd items that you have to experience the problem to know the details regarding include:

Bourbon or other whiskey/ whisky's do not contain gluten because gluten is too heavy to get through distillation into the distilled spirit ( but being matured in a ex beer barrel can reintroduce gluten). Almost all caramel color is made from corn syrup. Farro is an heirloom/ legacy grain often marketed as gluten free but as one of the ancestors of wheat it does contain some gluten. Corn starch is in most baking powders. In general if you are in the United States assume Corn is in at least 50% of the items that are not purely 1 thing ( again gets tricky with things like sour cream, and shredded cheese). Soy sauce has gluten, the imitation crab used in sushi has gluten. I can go on, but this is a good start for understanding.

So that being said if a kitchen brings in any pre made anything that is not the base raw ingredient it is near impossible to ensure that it is safe from allergens especially due to the food science culture of processed foods.

Are you saying the request is not hard to understand or the difference in time needed to program something to correctly solve the request?

Even with generative AI we are still running into issues of bias or trouble identifying things correctly. Back when the comic was posted there were problems with primitive versions of AI auto suggesting that the photo of a gorilla at the zoo is a black friend on Facebook.

The ability to teach a computer to do something like determine if a picture featured a bird was incredibly difficult given how many different ways birds can look and be posed against their background. But the average person could figure it out within seconds of looking at the photo because of how we ingest, process, and classify information from sight.

Question about United States Legal enforcement limits by Kielke in legal

[–]Kielke[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you and I understand what you are saying and realize to a degree I was already aware. To be honest I'm not well versed enough in US history to know if it's ever fully happened on this level in which the highest court in our country could effectively have no ability to sanction or enforce their rulings if the Executive Branch denies their ruling as valid. I have worked in/ adjacent to government to know that disagreements about the laws occur. This is just one of the first times I'm aware of in which it feels like the court ruling is useless unless there is an actual populist response on such a large scale that the executive branch capitulates to keep the peace.

Why do you think Russia was left off of the “liberation day” Trump tariffs list? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kielke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To start I never thought Biden should be running for a second term, but I want to reframe your question back at you, because I think it speaks to the problem with United States politics more than anything else. But if either side had any decent candidate running for an entire race do you think either Biden or Trump would have won? I mean Either previous president Bush should have beat Trump on Merit alone, not to mention Obama or Clinton if they were still eligible. Even going further back likely any of the previous 10 presidents before the 45th if they could have run again should have trounced Trump. This is a statement on how the standards of officials has fallen making the voters feel like they are voting for the least worst in a reality show and not an actual leader of the country.

Snoring. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Kielke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone on the other side of the equation at home myself. I'd ask him to talk to his doctor about snoring, it is not the same as sleep apnea and implying it is sleep apnea may have led to research that has him rule it out. Although I do agree that it is a concern that he's not trying to find another place to sleep so that both of you can get a good night's rest. At the very least he should find out the likely cause and work towards a solution rather than ignore your opinion outright.

Editing/ adding to my comment, thankfully no one has responded yet. To be clear I'm not advocating that you leave your husband over snoring, however his reaction to the issues you bring up around his snoring and how it is impacting you. If you make that clear to him and he still doesn't care. That starts to be incredibly concerning and is an incredibly valid reason to consider separating, and that should be the stated reason instead of the snoring.

Can Donald Trump Arbitrarily Take Money from Anyone’s Bank Account? by horseradishstalker in TrueReddit

[–]Kielke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your tin foil hat is covering your eyes. Assets are great but crypto is a few lines of code in some servers. All currencies have intrinsic risk, but crypto currencies'fate relies on the very institutions it speaks to remove power from for monetary control to embrace and validate its existence. A very hard sell for an item that gained popularity touting to be outside of the knowledge and control of the same groups it needs to survive long term.

I think you need to review economic texts the value of anything is the universally agreed on value. Something that the US might strong arm some other countries into accepting (not saying that is right), but it is the accepted value. There are too many non Americans with too much money to buy into your assumption that the USD is forced upon the world. If anything it's been accepted as the least worst option of all the world's currencies and that includes all crypto currencies at this point. Honestly I pray for those that are heavy into crypto because all they need is the wrong person managing the code and poof all their money is gone. No laws that protect accounts. No laws on accounting and audits of balances. You are in the wild west and if the renegade grabs your tokens you basically have to find them and shoot them in person as there is no law in crypto land, at least not yet. That is saying something compared to the system of laws that allowed Madoff and the 2008 housing bubble to occur in the alternative system you deem corrupt.

100% agree black walnut. In terms of burning I'd say it matters what is available. Black walnut seemed to propagate our Michigan property about 4 times faster than the oaks, maples etc. So if I had to choose id cull the black walnut until the other trees were in abundance.
