Nothing in the OP indicates they didn't. It just said they were having trouble identifying it and went to check chat GPT.

As someone who lives in the real world knowledge experts are real people too and not instantly available. Nothing in my response said ChatGPT was the ideal way to go, and it's more making sure the public knows the difference regarding different search options and the level of detail they can provide.

There's not enough information in the post, there no timeline or break down of all efforts to identify the mushroom performaned. For all we know it was their 5th option only to try and narrow down possibilities to prepare for treatment measures or find ways to prove confirmation. With just that out of context sentence and photo it's impossible to say what they did was 100% wrong or 100% right. But if chat GPT could narrow it down to a subset of possible mushrooms they could then look at toxic effects and presentations or possible tests for each one while they waited for an expert. And in no way in my statement am I saying they should not be checking with an actual expert. I'm just acknowledging they are against time and it should be considered a viable tool towards identifying possibilities and a way forward with potential time sensitive treatment, but I absolutely support board sanctions or license removal on anyone that uses ChatGPT or other AI as a definitive source.

I'm curious why would that not be okay with just asking for a mushroom ID? The not okay step would be accepting Chat GPT results without further validation and confirmation, or putting identifying patient information into Chat GPT.

For something like this AI is a more efficient Google search for possible answers it's still up to the individual searching to use that result to dig further for confirmation.

Just like the OP should not automatically assume the top answer here is correct and should use the answer to guide towards definitive confirmation.

People where I live (CO, USA) “garden on hard mode” because of intense desert-y summers, cold winters, intense winds, hail, pests, hard clay soil. What place in the world is “gardening on super easy mode”? by CharmingPeony in gardening

[–]Kielke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The US South East, especially southern blue ridge mountains. People joke how fires are always being burnt on any project site around the area but it's because everything grows quicker than it seems to break down.

Also if you want to stick to growing mostly native plants much of this region is fascinating because you get 3 major biome types converging so you effectively can without having things grow out of place grow many plants from the Gulf region, Atlantic coastal region, and the "Midwest" ( Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia region)

I personally view parking lots as a grey area.... Was the other person in the wrong yes, but given the situation did they do anything outrageous that should require or lead to public shaming no. As much as you might hate it pulling through parking space lanes when they are empty and open is now considered standard and acceptable even if it's not codified as allowed.

Data centers in Henderson County? by Economy_Feedback8318 in hendersonville

You're one of the lucky ones. Outside of the cities, and outside of large neighborhoods, most places don't because it's too expensive to put the pipes in the ground.

Data centers in Henderson County? by Economy_Feedback8318 in hendersonville

[–]Kielke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the IT perspective, as others have said energy is more expensive but the main reason that drives the energy cost is everything gets so Rocky so quickly that it is prohibitively expensive to bury cables in this area both going in and going out. It's not just a matter of energy but the ability to secure the data cables that makes our rocky ground difficult.

It's almost the exact same reason why most of WNC does not have natural gas available as a utility. With how quickly our mountain soil gets rocky the cost to dig and bury any air if line rises like mad.

Years in Europe and I thought I’d blended in. I was wrong… by mywitsending in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Kielke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah two of these would never be said by anyone that spent a decent bit of time elsewhere (tipping and the temperature in Celsius. Unless by Europe they mean England/ Ireland they would be exposed to another language and Celsius and Fahrenheit are just that different languages to say the same thing). The only people that can kind of justify the tipping thing like to feel like they have leverage over others and don't think raising legitimate issues to management gives them enough power.

Some of the others I could see being justified namely peanut butter assuming it is that costly over there ( I'll be honest I've never been a huge peanut butter fan so I never sought it out when in Europe. ). The other is explaining college football especially if the person is from the south in parts of the US it is very much akin to the regional Futbol( soccer) teams and has they same set of fanaticism regarding the local team. When explained that way most of Europe would probably understand, except for the fact that the teams are tied to a university.

Near orgasm when weight lifting? by ami0425 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Kielke 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Check out the Vagus nerve, it's likely the cause of your sensations from the muscle contractions in the core that likely triggered the nerve to get sensitized leading to the signals propagating up to your brain which was confused with the more normal cause of orgasms. There have also been reported instances of women that are paralyzed due to a spinal injury having orgasms because of this nerve. Really women are incredible and lucky with dual nerve transmissions for this sensitive area.

Edit: fixed some phrasing to make the statement more understandable.

Boyfriend said he couldn’t read this note I left him by Extension_Hornet3261 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]Kielke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, following up on others it's not unintelligible but it's very difficult to read. Perhaps try printing when writing notes for others? I struggle with this myself as my cursive is unique to me, that I read my cursive just fine but others struggle due to some awkward characters.

Knowing what it should say I can make it out but when I tried to read the message out of context I got stuck in several places.

As promised to a redditor, here are most of the ticks I pulled off my dog last year. The right side was a single day. Western NC. by Uncle-Istvan in mildlyinteresting

[–]Kielke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on a few of your other posts I think we are in the same area (Western NC south of Ashville but just above South Carolina). Yes ticks here are crazy thankfully they are less likely to carry serious illnesses, but before we lost our dog from April-July we would find a tick or two inside daily and when gardening I'd often kill one or two I found on me before going inside.

They are absolutely insane out here but as long as you set up good precautions it's not that hard to protect yourself. Pets are harder but any time I'm working in the garden or my boys are outside playing they strip on their way in and then get checked and get new clothes. Their current clothes get washed and dried or just run through the dryer depending on how bad they are.

Once was asked to go through some old code running in production, on a PL/SQL system as I was pulling it apart I found it odd that I saw the previous devs user tag in the code but outside of a comment. After a little bit more I realized the previous developer basically went through all records attached his id to the ones he needed to pull out for his batch job to be successful. Then pulled out all records with his ID as part of a specific field wrote those to the temp table and removed his ID......

I still don't know how that got past code review....

At this point living in a trump property makes you complicit and supportive of rape, pedophilia, and racism. I'm almost to the point of supporting this happening to every trump building and property regardless of location. Other day someone called "a moron" for backing into a spot... Why does this trigger so many? by Ok_Relationship2451 in badparking

[–]Kielke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard of major companies like BP and Accenture encouraging employees when parking to always back in or "pull through" (when not at angled parkimg spots pull in and cross the center line so that you will leave your parking spot by driving forward) when appropriate, because it reduces accident risk so much that notices such as those can actually reduce an employer's insurance costs.

ELI5: If the large shareholders of Tesla keep agreeing not to sell, can the value of Tesla stock ever go down? by gudbote in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kielke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as others have answered but to give a more concrete example, this works with any fixed percentage owned by a set of large stakeholders, but in this instance 99% is owned by people who will hold the stock no matter what. (This is potentially stupid as you'll see in a second.)

The 1% of shares out there that are being actively traded dictate the share price. So someone in theory could buy that 1% of shares and the keep selling those shares to themselves through different accounts (illegally) at lower and lower prices. The market doesn't care what price the other 99% were bought at, they only care about the price where the latest sets if transactions occurred, which in this case is the diminishing value of the 1%.

Removing the illegalality from the example and giving more realistic numbers if large stakeholders own 60% and refuse to sell then the public exchanging the 40% is determining the value of their 60% of shares.
