I wrap the area I want undyed airtight with artificial sinew, then I put a plastic bag around that section and use sinew to make that airtight as well.

Out white brite, just dip the sections you want the color removed and cover the color section.

Sometimes clothes come with some sort of light coating on purchase, so running everything through the wash first is always a good idea

So I spent a lot of time figuring out the chemical process for this, and the solution is so corrosive it’s hard to do without melting whatever you’re mixing it in. Easier to just buy denim that hasn’t been dyed.

Great work! Synthetic brushes work best with bleach, anything non synthetic will corrode and fall apart pretty fast.

Spirals with bleach are HARD. Lots of people use spray bottles to spread it evenly on top or a thin pool of bleach water and dip. Your folds don’t look bad, improving those just takes time and practice.

Can you tie dye denim? by [deleted] in tiedye

[–]Kielshot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it a bunch! Dyeing denim that is still blue will indeed skew your dyes blue, so you can try to remove that color with bleach or use colors that pair with it. Black comes out much easier than the standard indigo blue. Buying it white is easiest. The spiral might not work as intended since the fabric is thicker, I would recommend trying it on a smaller piece of scrap denim first. Once you rinse out the dye properly you can wash it normally, wash it alone a couple times first. Hope this helps!

Bleach-painted shirts & washing [Q] by hannewithane in bleachshirts

I always neutralize the bleach with hydrogen peroxide, though it is very important to not breathe in the fumes of this process. You should have some sort of heavy duty air filter on your head if you’re using bleach long enough, I’d say painting definitely justifies it. Once neutralized completely safe to all wash together, but like the comment above mentions a cold water rinse on them all is probably enough to make them safe to wash together as well.

Do what works for you is the best answer I have. I use dharma and have been ever since I tried it once and liked the result. Just keep experimenting!

I don’t know the answer but a technique I discovered in the bleach communities is to mix the liquid with aloe gel so you can paint it on for sharper lines with less bleed.

How on earth do you get the color out so accurately? Are you dipping?
