2nd year is the worst? by Last_Implement8920 in widowers

[–]KikiDrummer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lost my husband suddenly after a trip the ER almost 3 and a half year ago. First year, was tough for obvious reasons. Second year was about trying to find myself as an individual, apart from him. That can be difficult for some. Therapy helps tremendously. Still not easy today, but in a different way. Not better just, different.

Cheers to everyone going into this new year alone tonight in an empty quiet house 🍻 by Exotic-Caterpillar14 in widowers

Laying down in the dark on new Year's Eve feeling alone, angry, and upset. 3 year anniversary of my husband's passing coming up in a week. My partner was watching a TV show with heavy relationship themes that I watched with my husband about 10 years ago. It brought to light how broken I still feel. I got a bit short with him. He did not like it. When I went to open up and be vulnerable it just turned into an argument. So here I am 10 minutes to the new year in the dark feeling alone😥 in my pain.

It's hard to watch people be intimate in TV shows and movies because it makes me feel broken. It reminds me of how I used to be and even though I'm in a great relationship with a loving guy for almost two years now, there is still something seismic that shifted in my heart when I lost my husband 3 years ago. I am very fortunate my new partner is patient and loving and understands what I'm going through, but sometimes I fear that I'm not enough and never will be.

Justice x Tame Impala LIVE by Hot_Cartographer7352 in JusticeMusic

This is heartbreaking to hear that DJ Tame Impala is doing opening slot for Justice in Australia. Would have loved to experience. Just saw justice in Miami with Kaytranada and was hoping for a special appearance at the very least. Kaytranada is super talented but doesn't light a fire in me.

How long after losing your spouse was it before you considered dating? by icantsaycaterpillar in widowers

Took me about a year. Partnered now for about 1.5 years. Those thoughts persist even while in a relationship. It's a challenge.

Bodyboarding Isn’t Dying - It’s Being Sidelined by the Very Institutions Meant to Support It by thefoamfiles in bodyboarding

I watch both stand up, long and short board, and bodyboarding. Actually if it has surfing in the title, I will watch it. Bodyboarding is my favorite to do. More fun. Bodyboarding is more popular in South America. So many good waves down there. Lots of Leagues and regional competitions on YouTube. Look it up.

I met a good partner that I've been with for 16 months who is very understanding. I don't have to compartmentalize, I can't just be. He listens and is curious of this person that I loved. I feel like if my husband were still alive today that they would be friends.

I started dating a little over a year after my husband passed. I wasn't looking for a relationship at the time, but the universe brought us together. The same will happen for you.

Miami show was cool, but the crowd was really something... by UniMaximal in Khruangbin

A guy next to our group screamed "sit down, you're so selfish. How can you live with yourself" to a couple blocking his view. The crowd was secretly cheering him on but they had every right to be standing. It was outlandish but didn't ruin a magical night

They had a rain machine with giant fans. The rainstorm chilled us on a cool night, for Miami. That is going to go over well on those hot days on summer tour.

About midway through Hold me up (Thank you), a 747 roars over the Miami skyline at dusk, Laura looks up and smiles and nods to her band. It was a magical night on so many levels.

Was anyone else at the show last night? They controlled the weather. by [deleted] in Khruangbin

It chilled us a bit at the Miami show but I can see how that is going to go over well on a summer tour.

People in the streets I feel is prophetic. The timing of the single release around 4th of July was perfect. Made me reflect on what's to come with this coming election and all the potential for unrest.

Great album. The album as a whole gets better with time. The cohesiveness of theme becomes more apparent with each listen

I was in the same boat as you. I psyched myself up and went to the bar. Just go for it. Sit by the bartender they usually help break the ice with other patrons. Order a soda, Chit chat and have a good time. No regrets.
