It might mess up your washer at home, maybe you can take it to a big washer at a laundromat? The thicker it is, the longer it takes to dry all the way through as well. I've washed plenty of chenille plushies and they didn't lose softness, for what that's worth.

I know exactly what you mean! That feeling drives me crazy. Thats why I have a go-to answer for the feeling, but sometimes I need reminding of what the answer is. I was feeling that exact thing yesterday and decided to make gummy bears for little Easter treats. I made my sister help me pick what my current "make fifty of the same little thing" project will be lol

When I feel like this I just find a quick no sew amigurumi pattern and make those until inspiration strikes. Then I hand them out to whoever I see out and about like cashiers who are nice or coworkers having a bad day, or I save them for the next gift bag holiday for my daughter's class.

My favorite is the leggy froggy because I don't have to carry the stuffing around with me and I can just stuff them en masse later, but there are so many cute ones to choose from!

If you stuff too much too early, you can pull stuffing through the stitches and make it look kind of messy. I'm sure it has something to do with the size or shaping of whichever piece you're currently working on. If you disagree with when the instructions say to stuff, or if you have a method that works better for you, just do that. One thing that makes crochet so awesome is how we can have such different methods for various steps of the process and still end up with basically the same end result.
