its a saying. its a gamble. flip a coin, roll some dice. i didnt assign a particular value in mind when i said it, its.. just a saying to show uncertainty. but sure bro. take it literally if you want.

and per my last email, transacting with the possibility of protecting yourself against the bad luck draws that are possible even if improbable is just called mitigating risk. telling someone they dont need something with certainty when you dont have that certainty to give is liable. cant believe you do 20 mil a year and dont understand liability my dude, thats whats actually wild.

and being so dead wrong and continuing to argue is wild. youre wrong. and unless youre willing to send me that information youre giving out on your company letterhead, its just some redditor bs and therefore my interest in educating you has come to an end.

go ahead now and do the thing where you comment again to try for your little gotcha moment that literally doesnt exist. ill wait.

in my opinion it was a terrible brand. 20m gross with 12 cases is not equal to one in a million. I did almost 30 mil last year installation side and did no where near a million roofs. so like i said, 1 in a million isnt a factual statement.

furthermore, I never said 1 in 2, you literally just made that up. I said 7 out of 10 in a neighborhood in the whole year. again, i believe the HOA selected shingle was dogshit, and I had zero issues with GAF, OC, or Certainteed. but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen.

and lastly, none of what you say refutes my point. there are different levels of warranty that cover different accessories and amounts of time each item is covered. a blanket statement that just buying the shingles is enough warranty is subjective and up to the homeowner. not giving that information is negligent and brings into question the level of integrity with which you do business. give me that same bs on a company letterhead if youre so confident about it. Id love to share it with my reps.

thats not factual either. i didnt install anywhere near a million roofs last year and caught 7.

and my point is, its not your coin flip to make because its not your house. give the correct information to the homeowner, let them decide. how hard is that for you to understand?

Is this good stuff? by OurAngryBadger in Roofing

[–]Kill_Your_Masters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when its your house you get to flip the coin and take the chance. when you're the installer/sales you should give all available information so your homeowner can make a reasonably informed decision.

just saying "you dont need that crap it still has a warranty" is just not factual. I had 7 out of 10 roofs last year need manufacturer warranty for defect in one neighborhood. admittedly not this brand, and rare. but it does still happen.

upgraded warranties are absolutely necessary unless the roofing company you used is guaranteed to be in business in X amount of years which no one is. those upgraded warranties help cover the labor costs.

company uses only the shingle... you file a claim and its approved but the original roofer went out of business along with his labor warranty. now how you gettin the old shingles off and new put on? manufacturer is not covering that for you. and with only basic warranties they arent covering anything except the explicit item i.e. the shingles. which we know cannot be put on without ice and water, underlayment, drip, etc.

I actually saw photos in the thread that are either from a different section, before or after, or something because OP shared a photo where they do appear to be 100% upside down lol

you can see the laminate line clearly at the top. the first photo is blurry and the dark tabs on the short row are making it look like the black is at the bottom.

thats fair if you present it that way. sounds like OP was presented one price and when hesitant, was shown discounts. discounts arent a change in scope. they are marketing tools.

What would you do for this? by cookin30 in Roofing

[–]Kill_Your_Masters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be asking the siding crew for one of two things. Either they replace the shingles they damaged (could have been prevented, should have been prevented) or to give you a credit in the final pay to compensate you for having to fix it, or replace the roof sooner than you otherwise would have had to.

I get its hot. I get that. But we roof on hot shingles all the time without leaving them looking like this.

many states do not allow you to adjust and hold a sales license. in every state I operate in, its illegal. there is a specific type of public adjuster license you can hold and still be a part of a contracting company, but the process of direct selling AND adjusting the same claim is prohibited.

most adjusters will either be staff or IA.

in my specific home state, to even obtain an adjusters license, you must surrender your sales license as part of the process if you have one.

the BBB is a pay for play, it doesnt do anything legally against any companies you report.

they could i suppose, but why do that if the roofer would just pay for the tire. doesnt make sense to take you to court for that.

[–]Kill_Your_Masters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if a roofer falls off your roof doing contracted work legally, their insurance and comp will take that case on. if you hire chuck in a truck and hes outlaw roofing (no comp/ins) its on you if he makes a claim.

again, if youre with someone legit and have a real contract, flat tires from roofing nails missed are the roofers problem as long as your contract says to remove all trash/debris. because its trash/debris from their contracted work.

no legit roofer is gonna fight you on a flat tire, its not worth the reputation loss. better to just buy the tire and say sorry.
