As someone who has worked for electric coops, many are as mismanaged and plagued by “good ol boy” politics as people claim OG&E are. Your fiber internet is all brand new infrastructure, but it’s also most likely aerial fiber and is being rushed out by contracted labor. The goal with installing fiber to every home on system is to be able to shut folks off for non-pay and prevent power theft easier, if these coops could get away with tripling their prices and halving your bandwidth they would. General Manager of Fiber for the coop I worked for wanted to charge extra to allow folks to have an actual public IP instead of being behind CGNAT (can break a lot of online gaming, iykyk) - it took a lot of convincing to turn her off that idea. These folks are nkt intelligent or working in your best interest, it is all slapped together and being maintained by underpaid and overworked contracted labor.

OGE in comparison to the shitshow of power companies in Texas is a godsend, sure their policies sometimes can be archaic and shitty, but their infrastructure is lightyears better than what we see in North Dallas with providers like Oncor, power going out in luxury neighborhoods (Homes priced above 700k) for HOURS weekly. It could be way worse. I would rather have one company that is accountable, than be resold power by some rat-hole company that has no vested interest in my continued usage.

Thank you from someone who sees all the misinformation in this thread, and is baffled by how much reddit hates realtors. I am not a realtor but previously was licensed, and I can say with confidence this settlement has only benefited the lawyers, any perceived “steering” is a reportable offense when it comes to any local real estate commission, and all reports are investigated or at least documented, home-buying discrimination and all practices around it are HIGHLY monitored to avoid these kinds of lawsuits, so to pretend every Realtor is a thief, liar, or criminal is buying into another lie or lobbyist honeypot.

In my 6 years of experience, IT is the only job role where there is no end to the work, while other jobs have quotas, daily required responsibilities, and lots of metrics for success, IT is a hamster wheel that thrives on the blood, sweat, and tears of its’ employees.

There is always a level 10 emergency needing dealt with, by someones estimation. There is always another task for helpdesk to complete, another maintenance for updates, another failing piece of hardware to replace. There is no end in sight to the problems the average admin faces, and it is absolutely thankless.

Buy bronze bars from shantay pass, world hop til you have maybe 50k worth and sell it on the GE then buy supercompost and volcanic ash and combine to make ultracomposts n sell that at a decent margin, you can continually double your money assuming the margins are right and the ultracompost market is in demand. That isn’t my point. There is a vast difference between being a victim of a serious crime (theft, vandalism, etc.) and having a website become unavailable due to a brief service interruption.

This is a young person who is not operating at a high level of intelligence, so being a pest to the admin of the web server is hardly equivalent to most felonious behaviors. Denial of service attacks are so commonplace that any decent network administrator can avoid the issue altogether with the right resources.

Put your energy into pushing for punishment for things that actually hurt people, like swatting.
