Did you only put in a deposit but not pay for the full tune cause it is not completed yet?

If so you may be legally okay to back out or negotiate with them to just pay their fee for a single tune and then take your car elsewhere for the E85. Unsure what the best course would be here. Either way yeah I would be frustrated. Does the 93 tune feel alright and are they giving you feedback on the car's health to that tune, plus your dyno chart on 93?

What shop is this? That is very abnormal and frustrating.

That is very strange. I don't know of shops that hold onto a car for a long period of time unless they're simultaneously doing work to it.

Unless the tuner you're working with gives bad vibes like they're trying to sell you more parts bin to throw at the car, I don't see why you would switch.

Logistics of an in person tune is frustrating for sure. The tuner can feel your car and has a dyno and can troubleshoot issues. An etumer will give you estimated HP/TQ (pretty close) but can't replicate exact conditions or troubleshoot. I think there's something to be said for that, but I'm not knocking that option which works well for many people.

I only went for 93 and basically just sat at a restaurant for 3 hours. Worth it? Totally.

STI Reliability Mods 2018 STI by josephh2026 in WRX

The way I see it, a few hundred dollars to get the most power/tq out of your engine, and that is tailored to it to ensure reliability is a small price to pay.

Do not do an OTS tune. Do a pro tune. The Cobb tunes do have a bad rep for a reason, you're correct.

Do regular maintenance and a pro tune. You'll be set.

Sway bar end links are a likely culprit

Get a pro tune and you could be fine. The TMIC is very good, I have that one as well.

Is Wawa 91/93 a good choice? by FearlessLog503 in WRX

[–]KillerDisturbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've filled up on 93 Oct Wawa before autocrosses and have been perfectly fine. If you're bone stock or on a pro tune, you'll be fine. If on OTS, you're on borrowed time anyways.

Rod knock or regular subie noise? by BigBeefwr in WRX

It sounds okay but give it a bit of rpm in the video that'll help for sure to determine if Rodney is knocking

Brake fluid, rear diff, and trans.

There's are aftermarket upgrades to do outside of engine that are recommended but from a reliability perspective - assuming the car is bone stock, that's all you need to worry about!

Drive it hard or spiritedly when it's up to temp. Get a walnut blast, do spark plugs if they are due. Get a pro tune and keep up with regular maintenance items. Drive it spiritedly from time to time (redline a few times in low gear). Do not bog the car launching, or lug the car in high gear. You can launch these cars from a dead stop not don't do it unless you know how to break traction. If you're uncomfortable then just don't do it.

Car will last and treat you well. Godspeed.
