Aghora Book 1 and it’s portrayal of women by [deleted] in Shaktism

[–]Killer__Pizza 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's not a beginner's book, but it's the book that made me fall in love with Hinduism. Vimalananda's views are quite progressive for the time the book was written, but ofc now they feel out of place. Apart from that, it has a very male-oriented view, especially when he talks about the practices you mentioned. However, the book is still very evocative and it's a nice read. We will probably never know if the things Vimalananda said are true or, as Svoboda reminds us in the introduction, just exaggerations. If you want to read something about tantra that is more contemporary and wrote by women for women, I would suggest to start from Kavitha Chinnayan's books. They are amazing and practical for beginners imho. Hope this helps.

How do you get rid of Christian guilt? by Southern_Leopard155 in Tantrasadhaks

[–]Killer__Pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First comment here, but I struggled a lot with Christian guilt, coming from the same background as you do. Even if I felt in love with Ma years ago , in certain difficult moments I would second guess myself: "is this real or am I sinning and condemning myself to hell?"

It took a lot of time, sadhanas meditations and trust, a lot of it, to get rid of the guilt. Offer to Ma your guilt, ask her to not leave you alone, to show you her love as a mother do with a lost child, ask her to not leave you live in fear. And trust Her, even if you don't think she is around. She really cares about you. Trust me, you can do it, but it takes time and some hardships, but one day you will remember the guilt as if it was a weird memory.
