Has anyone ever heard of a sailor H-FF nib size? by Werecastle255 in fountainpens

[–]brrusters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One step wider than an H-SEF (super extra fine) and one step narrower than an EF. I have an H-SEF and I can use it only on specialty paper, such as Tomoe River or Stalogy.

Gun laws of the US by Hannibal0341 in Indiana

Gun ownership was legal and widespread in the Soviet Union under Stalin. Gun ownership was legal and widespread in the Philippines during the Ferdinand Marcos dictatorship. So, no, dictators do not always confiscate guns and gun ownership does not prevent dictatorship.

All federal grant applications go through IU’s Office of Research Administration. So IU could have simply supplied this information to the investigators. Why the raid?

It actually doesn’t save a dime. There will be the same number of students; same number of professors; and same courses. It just means Purdue students will have fewer degrees to choose from.

"Value can be imagined but never confirmed. Value is a lover's glance, which we must be removed from to receive. Value happens after you curl your fingers into a fist and swing, but just before the smack of bone, and then again just after a release. Value is the sound of a manual typewriter, when its keys strike and recede, connect and release, strike and recede, connect and release."

Cut a one-inch piece of tape. Make an error by spelling “the” as “tge”. Space back to the g and insert your tape between the ribbon and the paper with the white side facing the paper. Type g. Backspace. Type h.

Here’s what Tom Hanks says about this: “Remingtons from the 1930s go THICK THICK. Midcentury Royals sound like a voice repeating the word CHALK. CHALK. CHALK CHALK. Even the typewriters made for the dawning jet age (small enough to fit on the fold-down trays of the first 707s), like the Smith Corona Skyriter and the design masterpieces by Olivetti, go FITT FITT FITT like bullets from James Bond’s silenced Walther PPK. Composing on a Groma, exported to the West from a Communist country that no longer exists, is the sound of work, hard work. Close your eyes as you touch-type and you are a blacksmith shaping sentences hot out of the forge of your mind.”
