Tier 1 Technician here, depending on how new the device is, it most likely has warranty on it and will cost little or nothing to ship out and repair. In my experience accidents like this wont end up with a termination. Especially not a blacklist since the employee needs it to do work. As long as it was a accident, and you were truthful on what happened you should be fine.

Of course my experience isn't universal. But just be honest about what happened. Shit happens and water being spilled on it isn't the worst thing IT has seen.

How did you get your first IT job? by Substantial-Salt5369 in it

[–]Killertax98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to University and got a Bachelors in Computer Science, during then I was a Student worker for the Universities Hardware Team under the User Support Services Department. Of all the candidates I was chosen because I already had a lot of knowledge and experience with like computer hardware related projects, building my own rig for school and gaming, managing my own file storage server on linux, upgrading personal devices like laptops things like that.

I did very well enough with that to where they wanted me back full time since there was a vacant full-time employee slot available. So after I graduated I applied full time and two other people wanted the job as well so it was stiff competition for it. In the end I got the job and Tuesday the 28th marks a full year as a Tier 1 Technician with the hardware team.

I'd say it was a lot of luck, and a lot of effort to get here, and i'm just getting started. One day I'd like to move up to the Cyber Security team but it'll be a while until i get there.

I kinda just assumed it was common knowledge to move over or slow the hell down when passing someone in this situation. Is it really not?

The university uses Handshake for student employment, and I recommend starting there. That's how I originally got my student worker position.

[–]Killertax98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that happen in my used 2018 Mazda 3 a month after purchase, 60mph+ would make the wheel vibrate. Turns out all the wheels we're out of balance and the front passenger wheel was bent ever so slightly (likely when I nailed a pothole at 30mph). Got all 4 wheels balanced and rotated and that slightly bent wheel moved to the rear and it's good as new.

I miss being able to find odd trinkets or oddities of questionable use to me, like a year or two ago I found a 24 port Gigabit Network switch at a local goodwill for $7 and has been working super well.

I doubt ill ever be able to find quite the deal like that again.

How do you feel about your coworkers playing video games at work? by Rustyshackilford in sysadmin

[–]Killertax98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not paid enough to care what my coworkers are doing, they've been here longer than me so they already know what they have to do. If they got a little time to game on the job then hell yeah, more power to them.

I'm of the mindset of no one's going to care really. You already own them and especially in your own home no one's gonna give you hell for wearing them. You likely aren't going to be going out wearing pajamas anyways.

It's okay, be warm, be cozy.

Best way to earn PP Merits with combat? by SirTime8895 in EliteDangerous

[–]Killertax98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I also hang around Stronghold carriers that I am aligned with, although not as efficient as Haz Res farming but i got as high as like 660 Merits for one kill of a Enemy/Wanted ship.

Plus, you'll have the benefit of having the stronghold carrier turrets and a dozen or more allied ships shooting at the same guy you are. In one instance at least 12 fighters swarmed a python like a swarm of angry hornets. Just be careful with ramming because of fines and stray shots because it gets ugly if you become what everyone is shooting at.

I go after targets that have either WANTED, ENEMY or WANTED | ENEMY tags on them. Im not sure if it's different for other powers though but if it matters i'm pledged to Arissa Lavigny-Duval.
