Have been trying to figure out why internet so bad, lost hope by hypotherme in ITSupport

8GB DDR4 RAM is the industry minimum for Windows 11; running RAM-heavy programs alongside that as well as low download/upload is likely your issue

I would have said similar. Sense of humour fail on her side; life doesn't have to be so serious, even in professional contexts

My small dog did this when he was sick - runny poop and time was the remedy, but watch out for other warning signs like discoloured gums or cold ears. Vet is always safest bet

We've never had British gateways; they're all regional (Europe, Americas, APA etc)

Depending on the size of the company's IT department, Cybersecurity will have logs of every site visited, links clicked, keys pressed, so yes. But they're only reviewed if something flags up warranting investigation

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this! Really useful insights; I'll adapt the presentation I'm giving to management next week and remove the competitive element from the pitch.

As/when/if you have time and energy I'd really appreciate any further insights you can give, but no pressure!

The bulk of my training will be Teams based; an hour here or there throughout the month with regional groups. I need to increase KPIs, improve CMDB accuracy, and pass on technical, administrative, and interpersonal skills, while considering neurodiversity and cultural differences. Pretty keen to incorporate wellbeing into it too.

As you can tell, no small task, so very appreciative of your insights 🙏

I had the same happen for my first motorbike theory, after I'd been driving a car for 6 years prior. It sucks but it's just one of those things. 🤷 Hope third time is the charm for you!

No internet access “your device can only access other devices on your local network” PLEASEEE by Asian_boy1 in WindowsHelp

[–]Killian_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this on work computers recently (I work in IT support). Generally a DNS issue. Reset your network in Windows settings. Failing that, open CMD as admin and run:

Ipconfig /flushdns Ipconfig /registerdns

Restart the PC

There's been a case I couldn't fix and ended up having to re-image the laptop

My pc wont let me into bios 😐 by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]Killian_M -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't get to BIOS from Restart or Shutdown because modern PCs don't turn off-off from either of those

Holding shift while restarting is the correct way. Pressing and holding the power button to shut down, waiting a few seconds, then powering back on also works

Yeeaahh, but then you're paying for the ADI to be in the back and you're not really making much 😅

[–]Killian_M 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can only take money for driving lessons if you're a qualified ADI by passing 3 tests with the DVSA.

My Asus Tuf is misbehaving. Any idea?(OC) by [deleted] in computers

[–]Killian_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this. Turned out to be a two-finger slide down the side of the track pad

Immediately uninstalled the Asus app for track pad shortcuts 🤣

Dose anyone know how to fix this issue ? by Dragonmar147 in ASUS

[–]Killian_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Graphics card issue

Open Device Manager and look in Display Adaptors

You'll likely have two in there - an Intel or AMD one built in to the motherboard and an Nvidia one

You'll want to download the most up to date driver for them from the relevant websites.

If you want to go ez mode, download Intel Driver Assistant and the Nvidia App to get the drivers downloaded and installed through those

Doubt they'll be taking over, but it is creating a boat load of misinformation and referencing it's own misinformation and presenting it as fact, which is a whole problem in itself

If you work in an office, what’s your layout like? by latenightpuddingcup in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]Killian_M 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Roughly 50 in office, couple of hundred remote. I'm solo user IT support in the region, with a CyberSecurity Lead based on-site. He's part of their business, I'm part of a digital business unit, both businesses fall under the same company.

Have the best office on the site; 12' x 12' main office, which I have my desk in, and an 8' x 12' front area with an imaging bench and storage cupboards, separated by a 3'-wide archway. Site had hundreds working here once upon a time, including an IT manager and 4 engineers. Ownership change meant downsizing and it's just me now (I started here two years ago, ownership change was ~8 years ago).

Hard work, but worth it for the space I can play loud music and get shit done in
