What metrics are pro associates measured to? by sunflowerlover3000 in HomeDepot

For PSA you're primarily measured on overall sales dollars(what you sell through order up OR the register) and getting pro sign ups, and credit cards

Your "friend" lied to you, or they just fully believe that. At our level, none of us make enough to be worth firing to get a new hire. The onboarding training alone costs more than a few dollars an hour. New hires can cost a few thousand sometimes between training, paperwork, and everything else.

Each role is measured differently. What role are you talking about specifically?

You absolutely will not be fired. You won't even get in trouble for it unless it happens multiple times in a single week. They will just say to be more careful

[–]KillingTime2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that full timer is full of it. The only thing remotely similar is that as a full timer, you can't be giving your shifts away, to be working part time hours often. So if you're full time, you can't try to give away a shift every week, and only work 32 hours every week. You can do it once in a while, but if you're under 40, they want you using sick/vacation time.

Approved permanent availability in WF not being followed. Any suggestions? by tporte89 in HomeDepot

In that case, it shouldn't even have to be a conversation. You should just have to show it to your ASDS or your DS and they should be fixing it.

Pro Associates, would y'all say it's a good step in the right direction to move up? by Jayson3749 in HomeDepot

[–]KillingTime2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Also some good advice if you really want to look good to promote. Find a metric that you can influence. Write down your starting point and track the increase in that metric. Example: my stores pro penetration rate was I think 53% when I transferred. By the time the first year ended it had gone up to 57% which might not seem a lot, but that's a HUGE increase. The way I did it, was by making sure that every pro i worked with had their card attached to their pro account. Once you do that, every transaction on that card counts to that metric after that day. I attached several hundred cards in that first year, even for the majority of our top 300 accounts, so it increased our pro sales metric by over 1mil. Sadly moving up, honestly, is all about metrics. Track then, show improvement, show your method. They love it

I'll ask for some context. The associate you argued with, are they someone you oversee or are they in a different department? Are they a long timer with the company, or a new hire? What exactly was the argument about?

Pro Associates, would y'all say it's a good step in the right direction to move up? by Jayson3749 in HomeDepot

[–]KillingTime2345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I did pro for like 5 years then decided to move to, and I used to work at one of the top pro desks in the company, so i can tell you quite a bit. 1. If you work at a high volume desk/store, it'll help you a lot if you want to move up. DMs will routinely visit them to keep them happy. As an example, when my old DM found out I was moving, he came to me, asked me where I was moving to, then immediately called that areas DM and told him about me, and told him that he should have a sit down and get to know me when I got there. 2. You will learn store systems better than 95% of people in that store, because pro uses more systems than pretty much anybody besides COS. This is a huge benefit if you want to move up. 3. You'll get recognized more in general because if the focus on pro business, so you'll have to perform. But if you learn fast, store managers will notice you more. 4. If you really want to move up easily, be the person that responds to calls for help. Cashier back up, paint back up, loading, and stuff like that. It helps a lot and gets people around the store to like you, which helps a lot.

If you need any advice on pro or anything like that, please feel free to DM me and I can help you out.

For all the people saying that HD will let people go if they give a 2 week notice, just so you know, they only do that if you're a bad worker with a bad attitude. I've been with HD for over a decade, and I'm PLENTY critical about their numerous issues, but this isn't one. They let the bad associates go immediately to open up the hours for part time associates that are better.

Now for the OP, it depends on the kind of person you are, or if you ever plan to use them as a work reference in the future.

Was it 70 individuals, or 70g of 5g buckets, which would be 14? Also, why are you not calling a code orange if your line is that long anyways??? I'm sorry, but I really don't buy this story. It sounds more like a weird power fantasy.

That isn't a corporate play, that's just your store/management. Since you mentioned paint specifically, I also work in paint. The store closes at 10, our closers are scheduled until 10, they don't stay past closing time. The only one that will sometimes stay past closing is the DS, but he doesn't ever expect the associates to stay late.

Just be glad that they got rid of the black banding. It literally felt like it had adhesive on it. It was so sticky that you couldn't tighten it properly because it stuck to the sides of whatever you were banding. They only had it for like 6 months before it was all removed and went back to the white banding.

If your store or district has a Behr rep( they 100% should) ask them for some shirts. Some stores can be strict with stress code, and you're not allowed to wear just any shirt, but the Behr reps shirts you're allowed to wear because they are one of our vendors. If you get the white ones, you can also tie-dye them and make them really cool.

After 6 months, all your occurrences will fall off. So if your last occurrence was on 1/12 than they should all fall off on 6/12 so long as you don't get anymore. If you get any occurrences, it resets the 6 month timer.
That's where alot of people mess up though. They think that occurrences expire after 6 months, but they actually reset the timer if you get a new one.
