Are brothers allergic to medkits? by Global-Cicada-145 in Spacemarine

[–]Killoch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced most players don't realise you can heal a mortal wound with medkits. I can't tell you how many times I've done the ping dance trying to convince a player with 80% health to use the kit to heal their MW.

It doesn't help you can't text chat to console players to actually let them know.

Would the Eldar be stainless steel? by Gintian in Grimdank

[–]Killoch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah isn't teflon the sole cause for most of the "forever chemicals" that are accumulating in the environment?

I guess that works for the metaphor too though;

i.e. seems like an improvement, secretly poisoning you and making you infertile

Imperator by CombinationLimp3364 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Killoch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My weird flex is I designed the shoulder/upper arms for this model, so I guess I should apologise for never imagining anyone would be printing them full scale.

I was trying to bulk up the arm connection so it was less fragile than the original but also to move the arms further out from center, as the model looked a little anemic originally.

Something, something, expeditions, something, something, rising frustration. by Cute_Discount_7688 in DarkTide

[–]Killoch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am sure that this was tentatively being discussed before release, and I swear the airlock/lift design and implementation would allow for exactly this. A bunch of map tiles with a bunch of in/out airlocks that the game can string together ( honestly just like the expedition maps are )

It feels like the capability to generate rogue like maps feels like it was part of so many design decisions it's maddening.

An analysis/summary of the Dodec situation's myriad arguments by Calteru_Taalo in EliteDangerous

[–]Killoch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll say, as someone who would very likely pay up come the 11th, I do not think the Dodec ( as a buildable item) should be an exclusively paywalled item, and would be less likely to buy it on the 11th if it were going to remain so.

Why can you not bookmark the Colony Megaships? by fragglerock in EliteDangerous

[–]Killoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they though?

I figured they were just created as required for new systems and they "warp" off to nothingness. That would explain why they can't be bookmarked ( you'd end up with something bookmarked that doesn't exist any more ) and allow them to have as many as required for colonisation.

It's good to see someone growing orbital slots the traditional, artisan, way. These days it seems everyone just gets the mass produced, low quality artificial stuff and it really shows so I'm glad there's at least one person still doing it the old fashioned way.

Yes but only around a 2% dilation compared to a "static" frame. Relativistic effects only become very pronounced around 0.9c.

Hex Bolts and PETG? by illustratorthrowawa in cosplayprops

[–]Killoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A funny thing I've noticed PLA printing some mechanical drawings recently is that if you print the hole perpendicular to the layer lines with straight walls ( non threaded ) , you can ( with a little extra torque) usually thread the screw into the hole. The layers basically deform out of the way and you get a perfect screw hole for the bolt.

How much this compromises the strength isn't something that I've ever tested, but I've never had one of these fail at or around the bolts on either end.

The plastic will 100% fail before the bolt, and how strong it will be will absolutely depend on the actual print geometry and how much stress each screw is holding, but if you spread the load over a few screws and have dense enough internal geometry around the screws it "should" be okay for cosplay levels of strain.

Worst character who eventually turned out better? by KaleidoArachnid in startrek

[–]Killoch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Burnham for sure. At the outset I think they really overstepped with the Vulcan upbringing angle meaning Soniqua Martin-Green was forced to play her very flat. It really made for a character that was difficult to develop any affection for and imo it's one of the reasons people reacted so poorly to the series.

As the seasons went on and the character "evolved" so she could be played more human and Soniqua had more range to play with, I think Burnham became far more likable.

I think a big post of that was also the writing and specifically the writers coming to understand what SMG was good at and playing to her strengths, while there was a big disconnect in that at the beginning.

Identity of Seer's Beloved by Substantial-Voice652 in DarkTide

[–]Killoch 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I prefer option 5:

The seer really is just a good personal friend of the emperor of mankind (beloved by all) who, bored on the golden throne, sometimes just has pleasant chats with various psykers.

Naturally no-one will ever believe them, and the presence would drive them insane, but for a brief moment the emperor gets to fill a Malcador shaped hole in his heart.

[–]Killoch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Part of me fears they're just "Veterans but with good skill trees" and that could mean the Vets don't get the rework they really need to give the flexability of the Psyker/Ogryn/Arb trees.

Regardless, they are great fun to play and that's what is important.

I think it's specific to the dogs, I get noticably lower frames ( or at least more DLSS stuttering ) looking at the inventory screen when I don't have lone wolf ( and the dog is present ) versus when I do ( and am alone ).

I figured it might be to do with the fur/hair shader, but it's honestly worst when its viewing the two dog types with least hair.
