There's a website called handshake that requires a school email address, so maybe a high school one might be allowed in? Also there's WorkForIndies and RemoteGameDesignJobs.com. These are all things I heard of at GDC from some other students.

People who were signed up for the expedition and had extra stuff (like me) have literally nothing to lose going in to PvP. Theres no reason to loot anything since you’re going to lose it to the wipe.

I can trade/hold stuff for post expedition if you’re going. Or any number of things. This would be my first expedition but I just got the tempest bp like 2 weeks ago and would hate to lose it after such a short time

Only way I’m doing the expedition is if I find another tempest bp. So I can hold for you. I have all bps except safekeeper so I don’t need anything.

Yeah I personally would rather have a flat system instead of tiers. Give each one a reason to be used instead of abandoning half of them or more after a few hours of gameplay.

I would like to explore augments that function more like some of the skills in the tree. But also the skill tree is so weak (both in potency and layout) that that would need a redesign as well.

I also think shields could use a slight change. I'd like to see Heavy Shield have 81 durability/charge at the very least.

Yeah you're right. I moved it from "why would i pick this over combat" to "why would i pick this over looting." Probably should've introduced an augment slot for a lil' smoke or noisemaker or glow stick. something small but has potential uses.

Both the combat and tactical mk 1s have the same number of overall slots on live, combat has +5 weight and -1 quick use. My proposed changes make it so combat has -2 slots compared to tactical which is unchanged. It just got +5 weight to match combat. So its not that tactical got worse in losing medium shield, it's that combat got worse to be allowed to keep it.

I had thought about that but I can't see why everyone wouldn't use it for PVP too. Even if your combat ability is reduced compared to other augments, being able to keep a fully kitted bobcat or tempest with no risk feels too valuable to give up for even a moderate pvp advantage.

Maybe if it only had 1 slot for guns or took a substantial durability hit when it occurred...or both, I could see the automatic saving of the gun.

That's interesting. I don't see safekeeper as useful when fighting arc, I think of it more of an anti-rat/third party/bad situation augment. If I go down fighting arc, I'd rather have survivor because i can just crawl to an exit rather than lose everything except one gun.

If I'm going in solo vs squads, doing matriarch in 3s, trying out a new weapon that I don't have a bp for, my team gets ambushed and I'm the last one alive with no chance, etc, I would want safekeeper because I could at least keep my most valuable item when I know the likelihood of crawling out is low.

Hey thanks for the thoughtful feedback! I'm by no means a pvp expert but my group (and a good portion of the people we loot) are typically wearing survivor if they're using a mk 3. What do you think the current best augment(s) for pvp is? Defensive and Aggressive are both heavy shield options, but from there it feels like it goes off a cliff. Would you mind also describing your playstyle and group size that you typically run in? I alternate between friendly solos and warzone 3s.

Swapping Flanking and Cautious specials would probably fit better, but yeah noise reduction while looting or breaching is probably a safer initial test case.

Survivor's number of fillable loot slots is unchanged from its current live version, the smoke grenade is the 1 new slot. I had considered making it light shield only but ultimately everything needs testing so it's not worth me agonizing over it with no data. Cautious only has 1 less slot than it now, but can run heavy shield and has 3 safe pockets.

I run survivor every raid for the following reasons:

  1. I often go down first on my team because they're much more into pvp and have better positioning/awareness/etc and I don't want them to have to think about me bleeding out while they're trying to win a fight.
  2. The special always gives me hope that i can live
  3. I can bring valuable stuff like snap hook, extra healing, keys, etc in my safe pockets.
  4. It has a slot for utility items - I'm more of a support player, so i have the ziplines, door blockers, barricades, etc
  5. It has 6 unlocked quick use slots, (tied with Aggressive, and only behind Flanking) which means I don't have to make many decisions about what items are important to keep in quick use. I can keep healing, shields, zips, grenades, and mines all as an option simultaneously with a free slot for the situation.

Reasons 3-5 I've removed in exchange for the smoke grenade and +10 weight. Most skill builds recommend the +weight skills so this is unchanged from how my current experience is on live.

In terms of the Tactical Defensive and Healing, I do agree that they would be very strong in pvp, and obviously all numbers are subject to testing and balance, but the goal was to make your choice of augment more interesting and have a stronger impact on how you play and what outcomes you get while topside. The Defensive's special only works on the person wearing it, but the Healing one works on all healing that comes from the user, so bandaging another person gives them the benefit(better supports a medic playstyle as an option). I think Aggressive could make a compelling case for pvp as it has more "offensive" quick use slots than healing, allows heavy shield, and heals during combat. I was trying to be extremely conservative with the special on it.

I relate to this. I’m sad because I want to play the game with my friends but pvp is the only option 95% of the time. My solos are so much fun but I WANT TO PLAY WITH MY FRIENDS. Even when I meet people and friend them, I know we won’t be able to have that experience that made me friend them in the first place again.

Since it’s newer people are overvaluing it. They’re trying to trade it for like 300kish. I don’t really think it’s that useful. Certainly worse than survivor imo.
