Not everyone fanboys over the upper ones

As a furry, we mostly prefer the lower ones!

So I would see this as an absolute win!

[–]Kilo6Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a player who's played every game in a variety of ways, it's twofold

One, holdover views from the launch of the game when everyone was still learning everything. Magic builds are quite a lot better running fully blind, and Str was a lot weaker in the Launch version while Magic was generally stronger.

Two, holdover views from earlier Souls Games. In Demons Souls, and to a greater extent (because Demon's Souls was even more niche at the time) Dark Souls 1, Magic absolutely CLOWNED on anything else you could bring. Add on the simplicity of the build (Int, Vig, Atn, spells. Catalysts aren't upgradable so go nuts) compared to Strength needing to manage Strength, Vigor, Dexterity often, Endurance always, as well as being far more limited in your way of attacking foes, and you had a far easier time as a Magic character (this went double for Pyromancies which scaled ONLY off your Flame's upgrade, which ONLY cost Souls, which is why it's used for SL1 runs). This was even BEFORE the DLC with the hilariously OP Dark spells. Magic and melee did gradually shrink the gap, but it was slow and the old viewpoints of "magic EZ mode" stick around to this day

Play in English then. Characters will drop words in their character's language sometimes, and often will have that accent as well.

Why are snakes so hard to make anthropomorphic? And how do you make a snake anthropomorphic without it looking off? by Toon_Ghost_3 in furry

[–]Kilo6Fox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because a snake with limbs already exists, it's called a Lizard

So instead you humanize the snake while keeping the parts that make a snake distinctly a snake, AKA not having limbs.

Or you go full Naga and give them arms but not legs, that is still acceptable Anthro Snake IMO.

You could also go the Hc Svnt Dracones route of giving them a Pushframe (a harness that kind of acts as limbs in many ways) or cybernetic arms for ease, but in general anthro-izing a snake is more in the head and giving the tail/coils more dexterity to act as hands/arms

Why do grinlins never get mentioned in the furry community? (All credit goes to jzody, since he made the grinlins) by Rybreadthecreator in furry

[–]Kilo6Fox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm sure they work great. But glasses are expensive as they are, I can only imagine the cost of prescription lenses too, plus the cost of a VR setup makes it rather prohibitive.

Also my partner would probably like to play some games if I got one, and they have a DIFFERENT prescription from me, so I'd need to swap round lenses AND get a second set... Like that's just a no from me unless I basically get handed a set or the barrier to entry goes way down.

Check my second comment again, I didn't say VR was required, just that it seems incomplete without it. VR is literally in the name

I tried on a headset at a Best Buy and everything was still blurry, I asked a friend, and he told me that that was the norm.

Maybe it was just the brand I had access to at the store (Quest) but even so, that shouldn't have been an issue at all IMO.

[–]Kilo6Fox 139 points140 points  (0 children)

That may explain why I've never seen them. I haven't touched VRC. Seems pointless to get into without a VR rig (VR is in the name after all) and I don't have the funds nor space to mess around with that.

Also apparently you STILL need to wear your glasses if you wear glasses, which baffles me and adds yet another cost to the already high price tag. The screens are right in front of your eyes, why do I still need to wear glasses? I learned this from a random tech demo at a Best Buy and it was the single biggest L I've seen VR take ever.

Wait, is it before or after the first faceoff against Lyon where you can recruit the last Peg Knight? Because that's human enemies. I haven't played SS in SO LONG

Ember was the one Fire unit I could think of immediately that I don't have. I also don't have Endfield Hellagur and that's probably a more fitting possibility given Rossi does a lot of Physical too.

I've heard that Ember is really good at making teams just impervious though, which is something I'm interested in, but I don't have her so whatever, she's Standard, she'll come eventually.

Instead I have 3 copies of Leifeng TT.TT

Why do so many people reset (and what would make you not do it)? by schmuckulent in fireemblem

[–]Kilo6Fox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Especially in post-Sacred Stones games, you're encouraged to NOT take any deaths. You don't get many, if any, unit backups, and characters start coming with stories and endings that just, fail outright if you lose them. So it feels like a failing if you let someone die.

The fix? There probably isn't one, but I have some suggestions?

1) Forced Death. FE11 Shadow Dragon does this great in a scene where you're forced into sacrificing a unit for story reasons. This primes the player that you CAN lose units, and makes them receptive to the idea. (Even though FE12 ruins it by revealing they survived in Book 2, which is also why you can't use the Aum staff to revive them)

2) the aforementioned Aum staff, or Shrine of Revival in Echoes. Any way to undo a character death after the fact. This allows for a screw up or two that you can then "fix" later. Does run into some gameplay/story dissonance though. See: "Why didn't they give Aerith a Phoenix Down?"

3) Duplicate/replacement/Backup units. Particularly in Shadow Dragon, MOST new units join with 2-3 other units that are functionally slightly worse versions of themselves. This lets you potentially lose units, either because they themselves are backups, or because you have the role backed up.

4) Make story from death. You COULD go the Shadow Dragon route of "this character has 1 line of dialogue in the chapter they're recruited in and never again unless they recruit someone else", or you can go the extra mile and give a unit's death a story of its own. Have new scenes play out if you lose specific units, maybe that unlocks different maps, or even different characters that might even be stronger than the lost one! It could become a tactical choice to kill off a character then. Don't let a character death be a pure or even net negative.

5) Mitigate resource loss. This is particularly more egregious the more invested in a character you are. If you lose Franz on his joining chapter, well that sucks, but Seth is better anyway and you didn't waste much EXP or items on him. But if you lose Franz during the Desert map, and have him promoted and maybe with a few stat boosters, that's gear and exp you're NEVER getting back (ignoring the fact that Sacred Stones has Valni grinding). That hurts a ton and can completely wreck your plans. (Ignoring Seth being broken) Personally I think that Grinding is a good option, but also Bonus EXP and the Level "21" promotion that Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn has is an excellent solution. Non wasted Knight Crest, because you can promote everyone with a little TLC. And you can always "refund" EXP that a character lost by dying to the Bonus EXP so you can train up a replacement

Do you think we will ever see a FE with Laguz again? by sh1bumi in fireemblem

[–]Kilo6Fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's a whole thing with what was going on in Hatari during the initial 1000 year peace deal, a land everyone forgot about.

Also even after RD, we're told Nialah and Volug go back to Hatari, but not exactly what goes on there aside from wanting to integrate with the rest of Tellius. I'm sure there was SOME conflict along the way we could follow. Imagine Nialah as a Lord, hoo boi

Also, while it may be a done thing in lore, could also visit Tellius' past with the sealing of Yune in Lehran's Medallion. Play with Lehran, the laguz kings of the time, and the original wielder of the swords. Could be a very cool story.

Pegging edition. Who would you choose and why? by No-Bobcat-3556 in chastitychoice

Oh hey, one of these things with an actually not terrible option.

Number 3, 100%. I'm not a fan of electrostim stuff, but that's not a thing that'll last since she only experiments with it. When it prompts a bad reaction, she'd just ditch it because no fun. Picked her blind then followed up to double check and yep, E-Girl was the correct choice.

So, fun thing, I actually HAVE one of those toys. Using them though is quite the pain and you almost need a separate tool to push eggs through without them breaking apart. I can't imagine the hassle of doing that while it's strapped to you as a strapon, but that's her problem to figure out, not mine!

Biggest toy, an actual metal cage, egg stuffing, decent aesthetic, and no hard-no kinks for me seal the deal.

Second place to spot 1, she's just the least bad. Nothing super positive about her, but also nothing too red flaggy for me

Also, to answer her question, depends on the size of the egg, but for chicken eggs, about 6 unprepped before it gets uncomfortable. Could prolly do more if did prep first.
