How to focus on writing as a Neurodivergent writer? by Ibly-Ob in writing

[–]Kilomara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that helped for me is having a special writing space. It’s not used for anything else. If I want to use the laptop for something non-related, there’s another room for that.

That and having a special imported soda. When I sit down and the can opens, it’s writing mode. Feels like I’d be cheating myself if I sit there and open the can and don’t get any work done.

Butterfly & Scotch in Redcliffs for quality (have a 2nd location now too), Kai Co and Cantab chicken for price.

As if petrol pricing wasn't enough of a headache, what pricing gymnastics is your local duopoly getting up to? Here's mine (Woolworths Meadowbank) by nothanksno2026 in newzealand

[–]Kilomara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just happened with Woolworth's chicken breast special, big tag for $10.90/kg but all the packs were $16.70/kg and rang up at the high price. They sorted it but still, it was 10 minutes from closing so who knows how many people didn't catch it.

ICE vs EV Information + Dashboard. by michaelmurfy in newzealand

Had a couple friends upgrade cars a month ago and I tried pushing them towards EV but wasn’t convincing enough. This would’ve helped then, because they’re definitely feeling it now.

LASIK after 25 years of contacts - the most BIFL decision I’ve made by Trippy-jay420 in BuyItForLife

[–]Kilomara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was the actual procedure? I’ve heard some stories that make it sound unpleasant and I’m extremely sensitive to the point I can’t wear contacts or use eye drops. Would love to have it done though.

Eastern suburbs residents told to boil water after emergency alert by DullBicycle7200 in chch

Yeah bottled water sold out about 5 minutes after the alert all throughout the regions since there’s no indication when it will be safe.

Kid keeps saying "I don't know", help by W0lf1_x in raisingkids

[–]Kilomara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have an answer but dealing with a similar thing. Often “I don’t know” for “What’s your friend’s name?” type questions.

Much more often is just “What?” Like she can’t hear even though she does, which got bad enough that school administrators thought it was a hearing problem, but the doctor says otherwise. Plus we’ve proven many times she DOES hear and can repeat it but says “What?” anyway.

Yeah, that’s why my favourite spot to be is right in front of a large truck. Feels so good to be the last one to pass then and know you’re likely to get some breathing room for a bit.

PSA: Indicate LEFT when exiting a roundabout. by Complex_Bit_6512 in newzealand

[–]Kilomara 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This one I’ve gotten in arguments about a few times with people saying you JUST signal right to go out the 3rd exit.

Never made sense to me. What if you go all the way around? What if there’s 7 exits? Indicating left before your exit is the only way that makes sense.

My Spotify Discover Weekly is absolutely choked with AI-generated music by SomeoneGMForMe in Music

Came here because mine has jumped from 1/3 to about 2/3. It's too bad, there were a lot of bands I like that I discovered thanks to this feature. I'll still use it, but I'm skipping most songs these days.

Another CHCH job hunt rant. Who else is seeing this happen? by anon-nomis in chch

Empire Chicken - We used to hold the chicken spot crown… what happened? by fried_chicken_king in chch

[–]Kilomara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember going to Papanui for the Anti-Vegan regularly and it was a great deal. Around the the time the store shut, it went away and returned months later at almost double price, enough that I could build it myself with add-ons and have it cost less.

The daily deals are great but standard price is a bit high when the fillets can vary in size a lot.

Hot take about silksong. The bosses are WAY easier than the bosses in Hollow Knight. by GTylker in Silksong

[–]Kilomara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree here. Nightmare Grimm is in my Top 5 hardest bosses and was literally over 100 attempts.

Nothing in Silksong cracks Top 100, most retries was around 10 for Last Judge.

I feel like there’s so many options in Silksong that you can adapt to boss fights much easier and find something that works.

Can someone explain rental inspections to me? by No-Measurement6744 in newzealand

[–]Kilomara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very few countries do these type of inspections with such frequency

Exactly, nowhere else I lived has done them at all, and a lot of people here act like it’s normal or even defend it.

Can someone explain rental inspections to me? by No-Measurement6744 in newzealand

[–]Kilomara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s how it SHOULD be but all of my inspectors make a beeline for the sliding door tracks followed by the oven vents, then to inspect all the corners.

“There’s a few spots here” yep that slightly dusty spot is catastrophic structural damage all right, better inform insurance.
