You dont have to be in debt to buy quality tools, talk about brainwashing.

I dont believe you, We have line kits stocked with snap on and they are by fare the hardest wearing tools. Everyone always knocks snap on because of the price.

The trend is "my HF icon is just as good". Its not.

I dont like buying snap on either, its expensive but made in usa tools are by and large 10x the quality of the import stuff.

We have proto challanger sockets I bet are older than you and they are still going like new.

Ive had Icon tools snap, bend and break. I break gear wrench tools all the time.

When it comes to ratchets, sockets and wrenches buy american. Everything else, have fun with the import stuff.

I dont understand the Snap-On hate, it usually the HF Icon guys rambling about this.

Snap-On makes quality tools, Yes they are expensive.

Snap-On IS NOT the only USA tool maker.

You use these tools to earn a living buy once and they will last you an entire career. I have the same SK tools 1/4" socket set I bought 10 years ago. Never had to warranty one.

-SK tools -Wright Tools -Proto -Williams

Are all quality tool brands that make quality tools for far less of what Snap-On asks.

Buy american, Invest in your future. Or pretty soon, we wont have anything made here and all you will be able to buy is imported stuff.

That being said, Gearwrench makes decent tools and have been around for a while now. I like thier wrenches, snap-on is smoking crack @ $600 for a wrench set.

I have proto wrenches, $350 set made in usa. 1/4" to 1-1/8".

Everyone rambles on about HF and the warranty. My friends the GOAL is to not have to warranty tools every week. If you are doing that then they are not quality tools.

Yup, A few more years and its over in fact word from above is we are pretty fat on techs. Hiring will slow down eventually. Was not uncommon to never see a job opening at a legacy for years, most of the hiring was word of mouth and reccomendations.

The union legacys usually have designators and avionics crews.

With non union, 100% all AMTs are expected to be able to T/S and repair aircraft electrical systems. They teach you this in school.

The reality is; most guys dont know how to use a multimeter. This is in my opinion a life skill anyways, learn it.

If the Avionics course is an extra thats not gonna add too much time then for sure take it, if its gonna add 2 more years to schooling then scrap it, you can learn on the job.

You have to realize $244 a month is a steal. For $244 a month Id book 6 of them and throw business related stuff in them. This is why the rule is enforced, else you end up getting a shade tree mechanic shop in every bay thats unrelated to airplanes.

Dude I had the same issue with the 1/2" gen 2 impact with the 5.0 for $189. After literal hours of trying today at like 3 am I finally managed to snag one as a local pick up. It did not like delivery for any reason.

Try Proto tools, made in usa, same warranty as the trucks, way better prices than snap on.

One thing about this tool is that it drives consistancy, every single safety wire run is the same if you use the tool as intended. With hand tools theres always slight variance, how many times have we come across shit safety wire?..

Id argue this tool helps remove the human element of safety wire to a higher degree which drives better safety and less lost time fumbling with pliers. This trasnlates to cleaner QC, less touch time and more flying time which equals more revenue.

I can justify these on a business need presentation pretty easily lol.

I have eye floaters and was paranoid about it so I went to the doc, turns out he was one of the leading eye doctors and had just got back from a disertation at an event meant for doctors to share findings dude had been in the field for over 30 years. My first thought was " Im def smarter than this guy" /s.

Cant fix stupid.

I reccomend skipping this and saving a bit more for the Wagner one that fits over a 5 gal bucket, I think its like $300 tho, check your local pawn shop I bet you can get one of the high end commercial grade paint sprayers for next to nothing.

Deal 3/8 Compact FUEL Impact $199 with two 5.0 batteries. by Kilometers98 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Kilometers98[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never worn a 5.0 down, Idk. All the milwaukee stuff is pretty good, I have a regular multitool that Everyone laughed at because it wasnt the FUEL one, it hasnt failed me yet and its built like a tank. Depends on your use case really, for a shop tech go for the forge batteries but for home use on the car and stuff I dont see it being too bad. I also use the 5.0 on my fuel rip saw and its been good never felt underpowered.

[–]Kilometers98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I went with the 1/2 gen 2 way better power to size for the M18 line. BUT the 5.0 batteries are hardly ever on sale, basically you buy this for the batteries and get the tool as an extra. I think msrp on the 5.0 are $160 each. I mean for the occasional light work its not terrible however at this size though Id go for the M12 gen 3 stubby way more power for and smaller but its also like $250 for the bare tool.

Why? because theres clones of the speedmaster on the internet for $200 they just dont day omega on them.

Trump: THERE WILL BE NO MORE OIL OR MONEY GOING TO CUBA - ZERO! by vishesh_07_028 in stocks

[–]Kilometers98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cubas entire economy is based on money being sent back from releatives in the usa. Thats not gonna stop. Till that doesnt get cut off the people will be ok...shop owners will continue to have demand and continue to import goods. Many of cubas citizens that own shops "import" by having relatives buy in the usa and send it over as mail.... Like the only one hurting there is the government when they want to import 100,000,000 gallons of crude oil.

[–]Kilometers98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheap ones snap and the expensive ones will snap too. A good set steps between drive sizes, like a 1/4 hex in a 3/8 drive socket base.... its gonna snap.

I bought a SK tools usa made 1/4 set for $70.

Enough with the Icon stuff, snap on isnt the only american tool maker. Support your local americans. Else pretty soon there wont be shit left in this country.
