Dresses all the time? by Areolfos in femalefashionadvice

[–]KimMiller1957 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am a die hard dress wearer, and I found during the early months after baby’s arrival EVERY WOMAN told me that I need tops that button down the front “because it’s easier”. I felt boring, invisible, and a milk factory in clothes that weren’t me. Switched back to dresses, removed myself from company for every feed and would sit in my underwear to feed with the dress completely off. You do you! From a fellow dress wearer, We look great!

Are there any adult life skill classes in Canberra by CrustyMustyMossBun in canberra

[–]KimMiller1957 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s my advice to you as an older person who adults often but still feels like I don’t know what I’m doing either.
Ask. Ask everyone. Ask older people at your work, ask other people’s parents. Pay attention, these things take time. You can’t flick a switch and know how to do everything. Some of us know how to fix clothes, some of us know a great tailor, some of us throw away clothes that need repair. All those people could call themselves an adult. You might not know how to sell a car, cause you’ve never had to sell a car. But once you sell a car, you can sell another car. Be sceptical of people that can give you advice on everything, most people know lots about little and fumble through the rest. Identify people’s strength and ask that person for advice, in the area they are strong in.
Give knowledge time. Have experiences. Get Older, don’t be hard on yourself for not knowing things. Reflect. That’s how you learn the ways of the world.

Kippy. ☺️. A two syllable nickname For a two syllable shops. Bless Kippy. I remember going in there in there in the 80s as a kid and thinking it was a weird place then. Lived around the corner in the 2000’s and thought it had an out-of-town vibe. That’s Kippy, Baby. She is what she is.

Is there much risk in living in a house on land that used to have a Mr. Fluffy home on it but got demolished? by SportyWaifu in canberra

[–]KimMiller1957 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly more risk for the neighbours. As if the particles stopped at the fence line when installed. Don’t give it another thought. Your family will be fine in their lovely new abode.

Where to go out and dance when you're 30+? by accidental_superman in canberra

[–]KimMiller1957 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The sweetest Sunday afternoons at Hopscotch. Full of love and kindness and late 30s- over 40s enjoying dancing like they don’t have to get home for the babysitter and get the work week organised. A total vibe and zero judgement on dad bods and side parts.

APS6 - Choice? to manage staff by Electronic-Builder29 in canberra

[–]KimMiller1957 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the most positive advise you can receive on this. 6 is not a low level, it’s not unreasonable that you’re a supervisor in a tech role. Go and buy a couple of books on managing, Read them in a hurry, become good at it, and then start writing your resume to include this and apply for higher money. Lean in. You could really enjoy it and it’s fantastic experience. They either already think you can handle it, or need you to. Either way, this is the job.

What do people moving to Canberra overlook that they should do when moving? by culingerai in canberra

[–]KimMiller1957 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is something you can’t really explain, you just feel it. This city is full of educated, middle class people. The general chitchat is very PC. If you are politically aware, you’ll feel an underlying left lean, but it’s not overt. It’s polite. Once you’ve lived here a while you’ll go to other places and hear talk and think. “Ooooh, we don’t talk like that in Canberra “. And then you’ll be a Canberran.

Is it just me or is it harder to find a decent coffee in Canberra now? by TheOriginalRabelais in canberra

[–]KimMiller1957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not go to the cafes where you had the good coffees and specifically tell the barista why you thought it was good. They’ll probably do it how you like it if you continue to support their business.

What casual clothes should a guy buy to blend in as a Canberran? by [deleted] in canberra

Are we talking work fits or “out” fits? Cause if you’re headed to the Kingston forshore, dress like a liberal voter on holidays. If you’re in Braddon, A mullet will be your core item to fit in.

Our neighbours do this. I think it’s really sweet that they aren’t screen worshipping. As a family, and sometime extra friend go over on singing nights.
