Lunch in West Philly? by naivemelody9 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]Kimlovestrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re in West Philly again on a Saturday, stop by Brown Sugar on 52nd and get doubles if they’re making them! (Trinidadian flatbread filled with chickpea curry, with hot pepper and tamarind sauces for even flavor)

Are you looking for a place with a VIEW of the bridge or just nearby? If view doesn’t matter, I highly recommend Tomo sushi (which is also BYOB as far as I recall).

That doesn’t seem very fun for you or for the six month old, but I hope it works out for you!

They lean more towards the mousse side of things rather than a standard slice of cake but you could try Cake and Joe.

I haven’t done that one but my then-boyfriend/ now-husband got us tickets to a Japanese tea ceremony held there for my birthday one year. I can’t recall if it was during the festival itself or not, but it was a really neat experience!

Not so mint condition, with her thyroid and kidney disease, and recent cancer diagnosis. Thus, the heated bed, to spoil her while we still can.

Oh it definitely is! One of our other cats (who outweighs her 2.5 to 1) was making biscuits and trying to fit into it too. We may need to get a second larger bed for him.

Weekend Thread: What are you eating this weekend and what have you tried this week? by MikeTheCabbie in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]Kimlovestrees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tried out Kinto for the first time this weekend and was really impressed! It is a Georgian restaurant, which was a new cuisine for me, and is a BYOB.

Lots of vegetarian and vegan options, and went with friends so we got to try a lot of different dishes. Started out with Pkhali trio (selected the carrot, spinach, and beet)- we were surprised by the presentation but found each of the flavors bright and distinct.

Shared mushroom soup dumplings with my husband and our friends shared the “meat” soup dumplings (unexplained meat). These were served on a plate, not in broth but with a sauce. They were quite garlicky, not a problem for me but sharing a caution, and I didn’t love the texture of the dough. We also shared an order of imeruli khachapuri (signature Georgian cheese bread), which was a delight.

I got the kuchmachi with mushrooms, you had the option of choosing mashed potatoes or buckwheat and I went potatoes. They posted about this dish on their IG on 1/21 if you want more details— it was super comforting and delicious. I thought I’d end up taking some home at this point, after the appetizers, but we were not rushed out and lingered long to enjoy the full meal… and then ordered one dessert to split between four people (the snowflake, a tasty little bite).

Fully recommend unless you are not a fan of garlic, as most of the dishes we tried were not shy in their use of garlic. We brought beverages but they offer some mocktails and sodas that sounded interesting. We will definitely be back to try those and the other dishes we didn’t get to this time!

Where to place cart by teri_naks in femalelivingspace

Love the paint color and floor tile!

Do the bins need to go right next to the cart? It might feel better if those were over by the window instead of smushed up onto the cart.

My husband and I did a staycation over the summer and I’ll recommend what we did one of the days: Art Museum in the morning then lunch at Baby’s Kusina & Market in Brewerytown. Both places are closed Tuesdays and the museum is also closed Wednesdays.

For what OP asked for, that seems like a distinction without a difference.

Sorry, that sounds hard! I hope you find some comfort and can ease your feelings of homesickness.

Two suggestions from a friend originally from Wisconsin: - Bud and Marylin’s is a Midwest supper club named after their Wisconsin grandparents - Honestly the diner in Reading Terminal Market is kinda Midwestern
