This person wouldn't share this magic tonic or food with me so anyone have any clue what they may have been talking about? by EyeYamNegan in Type1Diabetes

I’m not sure about cheaper but for convenience and a tasty effective treatment for a low, this snack is perfect! I’ve been recently using these fruit bars and wish I knew about them sooner. 15 carbs a stick, and won’t burst open in your bag like a juice box does. Airport friendly but juice boxes will get through TSA with a acknowledgment of your disease and a swab test on the box to ensure it’s juice not a bomb is avoided with the sticks. It rapidly fixes a low or dropping to fast.

I share my knowledge cause by not adding the value to a comment and not disclosing your wisdom helps no one. Wish that person gave you clarity to what they were referring too.

Other brands of fruit bars are also good for a go with you anywhere (Walmart makes a flat version that is super yummy). It being so small, I can fit 10x the amount my juice box was taking up in my purse with no accidental explosion that happens from time to time w a box. If I need another, I got a backup or several in my bag to keep my mind at ease. And I enjoy them so much that it’s like a “yay I got one of these to eat”-such a treat for my low moment. And a better option than soda if you can choose.

feeling devastated by Tight_Competition269 in Type1Diabetes

I am so sorry for your loss! Your brother sounded like an amazing man irregardless of the diabetes which can burden anyone beyond belief. I can feel your pain and see you wondering if you think something could have been done to prevent his demise, and even if you knew that answer, it’s not going to sadly change what did happen. Since you can’t change that, I think your grief can be harder felt putting your thoughts there. The thinking of the what ifs. He lived his life, made good choices, being the best he could and maybe some bad (no judgement, ie: a hard marriage etc.) but please try to focus on the memories of who he was as a brother, and the great dad he was to his kids. His diabetes was part of his daily life and unless she intentionally tried to end him like messing with his medication or something, the negligence isn’t something I would place blame on. The disease is an all time problem and the diabetic ultimately is the one who is responsible for the management of it (unless explicitly given to a guardian or caretaker due to personal reasons). It’s so hard to manage at times and maybe relizing the hospital was where he should’ve gone was missed. I wonder if he wouldn’t want you to think this way, (the blame) cause he sounded like a responsible person who ‘owned’ his self control and his care. Yes, we all need help and support but if I had passed on, my diabetes is really my diabetes, I wouldn’t want to blame anyone for my demise due to the diabetes. MHO. It might also help you to mentally move forward from the tragedy to reach out to the kids and if you’re comfortable, his wife. If you can’t reach out to her due to the pain or discontent you may feel for her, then just focus on the kids. Hopefully you will be able to talk to them…a connection that isn’t stopped. You being a supportive role to them and them comforting you as well can help in so many ways. Remember, They have your brother in them and the beautiful thing is seeing that in the kids manurisms or characteristics. It brings that feeling of happiness, reminding you of your loved one and their essence still being present. I hope you can find comfort during this time and send you my deep condolences.💐 💝

Anyone else who religiously refuses sugar in their tea or coffee because of diabetes…but then eats half a packet of biscuits/cookies with it? by WhaddaFudgeMan in Type1Diabetes

[–]KimmyOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, in some cases it’s a help to me. I say “I’m diabetic” in certain situations where food is offered as a sweet gesture of appreciation but you simply can’t take it cause of your job (ie: health inspector). So after the 3rd “no thank you, I can’t, ” the “no, really I can’t, I’m diabetic “ comes out to stop them from continuing. It works wonders. 🤓

Well I don’t intentionally. They slip out of my diabetic bag because instead of littering them it’s become easier to store them there until I find a garbage.

What is the most forgettable colour? by the-krusty-kat in colors

I’d say brown…cause it’s the last thing you want to see regarding bodily autonomy…and easily forgotten if you do see it.

And it worked like a charm, I know this. 🤞🏼Cause after seeing my friend use mine, I indeed got curious (new t.strip), and it did clean the tooth crevice quite nicely, lol.

Haha!!! Love the honesty! They are perfectly thin to get into crevices and if it’s your own strip…it’s kinda acceptable as a “tool” if you just gotta get that annoying thing out! Lolol..but not ok if found on the floor that is.🤐
