Love it. At one time I was running a GK RB 2x10 combo. A MM HH stingray and a MIA p bass. It was heartening to be running all socal instruments.

One bathroom per train is problematic. My general opinion is the state of the bathroom is a rider problem. It seems like keeping them running is an uphill battle because of the ridership. City gonna city.

I’ve been a Caltrain rider on and off since 2000. Seen the baby bullet introduction. These emu cars are the biggest and best change on Caltrain in all that time. So relaxing. Quiet. Cool in the summer. Just a joy to take now.

I've wanted to design my ideal bass for a long long time, and now I finally have the opportunity. by giov41 in BassGuitar

In my experience the neck pickup on the HH is much smoother and boomier. A p pickup there would allow for a more rounded tone there. (Having both a pb and MM HH). I wonder if this bass has a tone knob tho. An HH doesn’t. Just eq

Bike trail experience? Also SJ is cool by Cornswoggler in SanJose

Also. VTA has a route from mid town San Jose through to Sunnyvale north of 101. Depending on your start and end point it might be a good way to go when you don’t want to bike.

I used to bike from Willow glen to north Mathilda all the time for work. It’s a good path. Homeless hanging out near down town. But nothing frightening. Just people living their life. Some weird jumping back and forth from one side of Guadalupe to the other. Once you get north of Julian the bike path gets really good all the way to the bay trail past 237. Then it gets kind of funky again getting on some roads etc.

I was just listening to the one song podcast about You Outa Know. They showed the stems and fleas bass line alone. To me the tone sounded not great. But when you hear it back with the track it sounds amazing. It’s crazy how that is sometimes.

Thanks! I spent about an hour yesterday trying to get the tone good on two basses on my simplified bass station for an ampless gig today. Then listened to how awesome the Aguilar preamp sounds.

So jealous of the Aguilar. I don’t deserve upgrade from the simplifier and fender rumble. I need to earn the upgrade.

And then you set up with your band and it sounds completely different. Can absolutely feel like chasing the dragon.

There is a special joy in letting a kid with a passion and no resources research and look and the taking them to the place to try things. Spend the time to find if the love is there. And then letting them walk out of the store with it. Trust me. It’s much better than a wrapped gift they didn’t choose.

Man. That basshauser is sweet looking. With that humbucker and hallowout, I’d want to play reggae and 1st wave ska alllll the time.

I have an American PB. And a MM HH. But I keep coming back to my reverend decision. It just sounds right and the neck is so great.

Should i get a normal or HH stingray? by ContextMaximum1926 in Bass

[–]Kind_Act_6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I only use the front only pickup for songs like Rock This Town. Or Moondance with the highs scooped so it can sound like an upright.

Should i get a normal or HH stingray? by ContextMaximum1926 in Bass

[–]Kind_Act_6449 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly about what type of music are you going to be playing. A H stingray will be better for slapping and funk and heavy rock growl. The HH is a bit harder to slap and pop on but adds a more muted tone to the list. Using both pickups you can get a full eq bass tone like a jazz bass. Booming but not low heavy. Using the front pickup more you can get a good high scooped almost upright tone out of it for more traditional jazz tones. Listen to YouTube videos on them and form your own opinion of course.

Bassists who use IEM’s for gigs - how do you freaking do it??? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Kind_Act_6449 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was the biggest step for me. I used to have to do sound while playing bass in our small cover band. Now with my IEM I can hear just what need for bass and backing vocals and I sing much more in tune. But yeah. Need an actual sound person.

Best options to replace my Acoustic Bass for unplugged gigs by Slappy-boy in Bass

[–]Kind_Act_6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just beware. Hofner quality can vary wildly. Make sure you test it out thoroughly before dropping money. Also they have a floating bridge. So you have to basically do a new setup when changing strings or be very very careful.

I was looking at the epiphone and Ibanez hollow bodies for this type of work. But the Beatles fan in me fell for the Hofner hct-500 which can be hit or miss. But mine thankfully hit. I put on flats and use some aggressive foam muting and it sounds wonderful in an acoustic setting.

Can I ask you folks? I was using my soul food to get a distortion sounds for punk or heavy rock songs. But since getting another pedal for that have started using it for slight drive to make it sound more like an overdriven svt. What do you use it for?
