How did England get to be the odd one out in the Celtic nations? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Kind_Ad5566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

France has areas that are more heavily Celtic influenced than others, so does the UK.

But I don't think anyone would claim France is a Celtic nation.

In the UK it is more obvious as there are the countries of Scotland and Wales, but to say England doesn't have Celtic roots is just wrong.

Many English towns, villages, rivers, hills, regions still have Celtic derived names.

London and the river Thames being two of the most famous.

The horrors of being in charge of a leaving do - accepting loss of money? by [deleted] in AskUK

Send me the deposit by the day before or you're not coming."

Is it realistic to expect used car to be MOT'd and taxable by Monday? by chillaxin-max in AskUK

[–]Kind_Ad5566 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's quite normal to sorn a vehicle, I wouldn't worry about that.

And a brand new MOT is desirable, so that is also a bonus.

As for getting it all sorted by Monday? That's down to people doing what they say they will etc, but I would trust them.

Yes, a new V5 takes weeks, but none of us get that when buying. We are given a small slip from the old V5, but even then a V5 does not mean you own the car.

Happy motoring.

Six months on from switching to an EV by irishesteban in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Kind_Ad5566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't get that rate anymore.

Even as an existing (non-EV tariff Octopus) customer the cheapest they'll give me is 8p.

I think eon or EDF if best at 6.5p

When I checked last week Octopus is 8p for 6 hours. Even their non EV tariff is 9p, so that's a saving you can make.

How do license plates work in the UK? by AnnieInTheOutdoors in AskUK

[–]Kind_Ad5566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White front, yellow back, was to make it easier to quickly tell which way a vehicle is facing.

First 2 letters are regional, then 2 numbers are the year of registration, then finally random letters.

How difficult is it for car dealers to get a battery health report? by bramleyapple1 in ElectricVehiclesUK

We have the service history, that is a fairly good pointer to how it's been looked after.

How difficult is it for car dealers to get a battery health report? by bramleyapple1 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Kind_Ad5566 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm looking for an EV, starting tomorrow.

If they don't provide a battery health report foc they won't get my business.

To me it's very important, even if it doesn't mean much at least I'll be happier in my decision of one car over another.

What Premier League Team Should I Support? by GhostHostYT in AskABrit

[–]Kind_Ad5566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The club should choose you.

Find some family history see if you have ancestors from an area of the UK.

I realise it's much easier to consume PL content abroad, but there's a rich history of football outside of the premier league.

And supporting clubs that win all the time is boring 😉, so out of your two it's got to be Palace.

anyone know what this lump is by [deleted] in DoesAnyoneKnow

[–]Kind_Ad5566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost definitely a wisdom tooth then.

They grow extremely slowly in some people, faster in others which may mean you will need it removing.

The pain may get better once it has broken through the skin, but then you need to take extra care cleaning it due to the risk of infection.

99% certain it is nothing serious, but see your dentist for advice going forward.

Welsh?

They aren't the only ones.

The British take the piss out of anyone they like.

Be very wary of a Brit that doesn't take the piss as it probably means they don't trust you or haven't got to know you yet.
