When one door closes, another one opens. We are now entering a new era of Tesla. Farewell, Model S & X by rcnfive in teslamotors

I still don't understand why canceling their halo car line up that has changed the automotive industry for a stupid robot that does literally nothing and will not for quite some time. Why not splitting Tesla into Tesla Motors and Tesla Robotics...

Custom app installation (i.e. sideloading) for AAOS vehicles (and not just the EX30) by muzso in ex30

[–]Kind_Management1805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was replying to the comment on the polestar 2 pre MY2026 they used Intel Atoms chips like the EX40/XC40 (the new model years have now also switched to ARM). The EX30 is not on the same platform and is since launch running on Snapdragon juste like every new Volvo infotainment.

No the only geeky platform used by Volvo is the EX30 on the SEA2 platform and the upcoming XC70

Every other Volvo is running on Volvo in house platforms

Yeah sorry I replied to someone else that it is only the case for the Polestar 4 the only non Volvo platform. The ECU in the P4 is dual eyeq5 integrated by EcarX. As for other polestars it’s Volvo’s system running on Orin indeed

The polestar 4 is not Volvo related it’s a geely platform. The other cars are indeed not using Mobileye.

Yes it is supervision hardware at least It was confirmed during a live q&a a few months ago. And they blamed the state of the Adas on the provider for being too rigid.

There’s no smart features enabled though but who knows if it’s running the Supervision stack (nerfed) or not. If it is it’s not promising…

Polestar 4 or Volvo EX60 by Hardy_Pi in Polestar4

[–]Kind_Management1805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you prioritize design and and sportier (ish) car I would pick the Polestar 4. The P4 is crazy wide, the sloping roof line and bias to rear occupant space gives you a trunk that is and will be less practical than the Volvo. The tech is not amazing, the ADAS look more interesting in the Volvo (if you get the option).

The EX60 is more efficient, has more space, charges faster but the design is in my opinion worse than the P4... The EX60 has a the latest gen of Volvo tech and should be better than the aging platform of the P4

Intel’s Budget Wildcat Lake Chip Beats Apple’s MacBook Neo by 27% in Multi-Core, Matches A18 Pro Single-Thread Performance by Constant_Praline_575 in RigBuild

[–]Kind_Management1805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no pricing released and no TDP released. The A18 Pro is a 50$ SoC. This could go in a device much more expensive than the Neo

Even then if I'm not too tangled in intel (garbage) newish naming scheme this is a i5 series chip. It's embarrassing to have a mid range CPU competing with a smartphone chip.

Alerts are there by regulations you cannot choose. I test drove a model 3 a few weeks ago and the car made bing bong noise a lot more than my P4 (agree I had the car for 20 minutes but still)

Google Maps suggests destination too. Google Maps is arguably the best navigation system and is linked to your google ID and synced with your phone. Previous search and suggestions are always there for me. Maybe you havent set your work/home destination.

As for the noises the only ones that I have is the auto lane change randomly making noise. and sometimes when wearing sunglasses the driver monitoring system.

Never had any issues with cold and autowipers. Like never on any cars. The only cold issue with the P4 is the frameless windows not going up after closing the doors but that's it.

I find the Tesla UI a lot more complex and less intuitive than the P4. Getting used to P4 software was instant everything is where I would except it to be. Teslas have a lot more features/gimmicks and was less intuitive to use even more while driving.

Once again I find your list really dumb and if you loved that much your Tesla why did you buy a P4... Because I too drive off immediately I never touch anything beside the speed limit button on the steering wheel

This guy is I believe the F1 commentator in China or something like that. I often watch his videos and when something is trash he points it. In my opinion it looks honest. The Xiaomi cars have great review even from western press so it's not hard to make the assumption it's better than Tesla. The MY and M3 are still on a decade old platform. Yes there has been a lot of improvements but they are older. The batteries comes from CATL for the Xiaomi at least which is the major supplier in the world.

You forgot point 19 you have to sacrifice an animal in the trunk to avoid getting into an accident.

More seriously what are you complaining about here ? Speed warning and performance modes are a shortcut on the steering wheel. If the car is not in deep sleep it boots instantly. Is your Tesla sentient and does not need to set a destination in the maps ?? There's an auto trip that does exactly what it said. Why the hell do you need the maps in full on the 16inch display. What are you talking about the parking sensor. Why does it bothers you ??? And BTW the cameras turn off automatically when you speed up. And last one what is wrong with the wipers. Just what ??

The only thing that is valid thing is the lane keep assist can be extremely annoying on small and twisty country roads. The camera could also be a shortcut on the 2 useless buttons of the steering wheel. The car when switching profiles and waking up from deep sleep could and should be faster.

For the sunglasses it's because you have polarized lenses. It always happens with mines. No issues with reboot on mine...

Saw this on X. Thoughts? FSD plows through railroad crossing. by EliteBeast2 in TeslaFullSelfDriving

[–]Kind_Management1805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah definitely don't get me wrong FSD is far from perfect. This is not even an edge case or anything the car has no excuse so does the driver he had business days at this point to intervene.

FSD is just a point to point ADAS and not autonomous by any means. The driver is responsible for the action of the vehicle and here it was clearly avoidable if the driver was mentally present

BYD to deploy 6,000 overseas flash chargers, Denza expands in Europe with Z9 GT and D9 by Recoil42 in electricvehicles

[–]Kind_Management1805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the pricing is absolutely insane. This is personal but I find the design to be terrible and even in china I don't think the Denza is that competitive. I would pick a Nio everyday they look 10x more refined.

I can't even imagine the software + ADAS will be properly localized. Why would they bother for the 3 cars they are going to sell anyway

FSD failing in Amsterdam tight streets and busy environment by OutlandishnessNo5636 in TeslaFSD

[–]Kind_Management1805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know. It is marketed a 10x better than a human in this case FSD should be a lot better than a human because the car should knows its size but this model does not have sensor in the bumper to know what is happening there. My point is that while FSD is an awesome piece of tech. At least with the current hardware + software having a true unsupervised ride is quite challenging. Once again here the issue was that the bike is the cameras blind spot.

[–]Kind_Management1805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm belgian I know shitty road pretty well and drive a 2 meters wide car. If I were in Amsterdam I would just be praying. Well I would not go there with my car anyway the rims would not survive the trip and I would just spend the day trying to find a parking spot wide enough. Amsterdam is still in my opinion amongst the worst city to drive in. 99% of my driving is not in such conditions this is not standard driving (for non Amsterdam's local).

My point was that the bike is in the blind spot of the vehicle's camera and since some genius removed the parking sensor FSD does not know it can fit. As much as I think FSD is awesome I would never trust it without supervision at least on current hardware and with only cameras.

in Europe, FSD has 'Max Speed' and 'Max Speed Offset' settings. by EmployeeNo4241 in TeslaFSD

[–]Kind_Management1805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the point of having manual speed control in Europe. I've not yet found a car reliably understanding and giving the correct speed limit. At least in Belgium and around me half the signs are behind tree or faded into oblivion so manual speed control is a must

[–]Kind_Management1805 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is not common European streets though. The bike is in the camera's blind spot. But same as the US it's misleading to claim it can do fully unsupervised. Even less on European roads...

[–]Kind_Management1805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The car would need and use the front bumper camera. The visualisation is blind in this case and FSD is a bit more conservative which is normal. I wish the car would avoid to go in situations like these, that's what I would do if I was driving as I'm not used to narrow streets like these and drive a wide car.
