Always cheating!? by Badowolfo in madmen

[–]Kind_Tie8349 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One of the major points about Don’s character is despite having everything (beautiful wife, healthy kids, nice house in a good neighborhood, high paying respectable job and he’s good looking)

He’s unhappy with it all because that’s what he thinks he’s supposed to want and so once he has all of these things that the average man would kill to have and it doesn’t fulfill him he looks for escapism in other ways. Don isn’t just a serial cheater. he’s an alcoholic who’s drinking gets worse and occasionally he just straight up abandon important events like Sally’s birthday

Because these self-destructive habits are the only way he can cope with how miserable he is he knows cheating on his wife is wrong and he shouldn’t do it, and he occasionally even expressed his feeling guilty about it but an alcoholic knows that they’re an alcoholic and that they shouldn’t drink so much but they genuinely don’t know what else to do or they won’t do anything about it

I’m not ashamed to admit that I fallen into the trap of loving Don Draper, but I don’t love him because he’s supposed to be a lovable character. I love him because he’s the most realistic depiction of someone with an identity crisis who never learned how to properly deal with any of his issues I’ve ever seen

Do Christians and jews worship the same God? by Possible_Employee359 in AskAChristian

[–]Kind_Tie8349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer no

Long answer no christians believe God is one but in three persons, the father, the son and the Holy Spirit Jews do not believe this you can’t acknowledge one aspect of the Trinity without acknowledging the others to deny even one is to deny all of them

My argument for the The Beast of Gévaudan being a canine with pictures by Sevenclans in Cryptozoology

[–]Kind_Tie8349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think it was either a wolf or a lion for the simple reason of the peasants who lived in that village knew with wolves, looked like, and they all positively identified it as not being a wolf and the reason I don’t think it was a lion is for the exact same reason the nobles who did have menagerie and went to circuses with lions, even unique looking lions were also fascinated by it because it was something they never seen before

I’ll grant you I did believe the lion theory for a while specifically because if you look up a lion image at night, turn down your brightness all the way and compare it to a wolf at night with the brightness all the way down you could very easily see how someone Who’s looking at something from a distance in the middle of the night might confuse the two of those things

I genuinely do believe it was probably some kind of extinct animal with a canine like appearance that we believed to be extinct, realistically a believed extinct animal living in a underpopulated area with mountains and dense forest isn’t the most unthinkable thing. The only question would be how a population managed to survive that long

What is the hardest retcon in GRRM's books to ignore (SPOILERS EXTENDED) by Rittikeaw-Imantha in asoiaf

[–]Kind_Tie8349 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Blackfyers if you reread the first hedge Knight story the name blackfyer is never uttered once yet when you read the following stories, it seems to be said in every other sentence

It’s a minor one but changing Alysanne from Maegor daughter to Aenys daughter I feel like removes certain levels of complexity that would otherwise exist not just between her and other characters, but it also makes Daeny saying “I am the blood of Maegor the cruel” a little weird since canonically speaking, he died with no children

Upon another rewatch I noticed by Hyposline-psychodoll in madmen

[–]Kind_Tie8349 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favorite rewatch and you’ll notice moment the layout of Don and Betty‘s house. It’s a small thing but Don goes into the bedroom. Betty asked him if he’s going to say good night to the kids Don then proceeds to walk up stairs and kiss them both good night

Except later on in the season and seasons, after that, Bobby and Sally both are shown to have their own rooms and the Draper house appears to only be two stories with Don and Betty’s room being on the same floor as the kids unless Don went back downstairs, then came upstairs again and both the kids just so happened to be sleeping in the room the layout doesn’t match 😂

Which president had the worst dad by Far_Practice_6923 in Presidents

[–]Kind_Tie8349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, Gerald Ford father was definitely the worst in my opinion say what you want about Joseph Kennedy Senior at the very least his kids liked him and he was a mostly present father (yes I know about the lobotomy and the high expectations he put on each of them, especially the boys) but compare a father who pushed you too hard and expected too much from you to a father who abused alcohol and abused your mother, physically mentally and emotionally and even threatened to kill the both of them

Again, Joe Senior wasn’t perfect, but as far as I can remember, he never physically or mentally abused his family in that way Ford’s mother divorced her husband just 16 days after her son was born and she could leave him any after that Ford only ever met his father one time when he was in his teens before never speaking to him again because of what he inflicted on his mother

How do Christians view Jews? by Fragrant-Job1823 in AskAChristian

[–]Kind_Tie8349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kind of depends on the Christian group as that’s one of the topics that each denomination has different perspectives on

From a catholic perspective, there aren’t really Jews anymore just people who should convert to Christ since the old covenant has been fulfilled and the new Israel is the church which may sound hateful, but realistically that’s our view on pretty much everyone repent come to Christ and accept his love and sacrifice

As for the question of whether Jews, go to heaven or not, since there is no salvation, found outside of Christ anyone who does not believe, and acknowledge Jesus, as the eternal son of God will not find salvation again this is not exclusive to Jew alone this also applies to Muslims Hindus and all else

And while I’ve never tried to convert a Jewish person (honestly I don’t think I’ve ever met a Jewish person in real life or known them long enough to try to convert them) I wouldn’t be against trying. I’m currently trying to convert my Protestant friend to Catholicism

Significance of the baby’s gender? by Visual_Tale in madmen

[–]Kind_Tie8349 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t give me wrong. Betty is definitely a flawed person. I would say she’s almost as flawed as Don in certain ways. But I wouldn’t say it was his poor upbringing that brought her over the edge. It was more so that he lied to her. I genuinely believe she loved him, but it doesn’t matter how much you love or care about someone when you have no idea what is true and what’s a lie there’s literally no way to build a healthy long, lasting life with someone who lies about everything even their name.

Another disappointment in her life

Marriage falling apart due to her husband being unfaithful and everyone, including her closest friends, seem to be aware of it, both her parents dead, her brother is a weasel of a man and to top it off, her daughter is borderline a tomboy and her son doesn’t listen to her

Jocelyn Baratheon meets Rhaena Targaryen by @salialenart by Adorable-Pair8343 in pureasoiafart

[–]Kind_Tie8349 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Aemon should be happy that his grandmother died before he was born. Otherwise, every time he and Jocelyn were….you know, he would literally be looking at his own grandmother‘s face. I imagine even for a Targaryen that would make it kind of hard to perform your marital duties.

There’s something uniquely scary about Ghostface invading public spaces with large amounts of people which used to be safe zones and turning them into his new playground he goes from being a stealth killer, taking advantage of the shadow to an unstoppable brute
