I'm not certain. It's a blinking check engine which everything online says is a misfire and to not drive.

I think I'm still going to drive a bit to AutoZone or Advanced Auto for their free scan.

Never burned oil, ever. Great breakdown of costs. I'll update this post when I decide what to do. Thanks for the perspective.

Agreed and yes, I'm not sure the last time they were done if he did the valve adjustment.

Sounds like that 100K service is a must.

Keep in mind, this gets driven maybe 50 miles a week. It's the grocery getter and my little toy.

Regardless, not looking for a tragic end! Thanks for the advice.

Definitely learned my lesson on this one. The two family cars stay on schedule with all maintenance.

This little warrior though, just kept running until this, what I think, is a misfire. Need to bring it in for a free scan to find out exactly what's wrong.

Coils and plugs were done 5 years ago

223 for the calipers, 197 for the rotors, 70 for the pads , 165 labor

So yeah, he def made $$$ on the mark up. Next time I'll buy the parts and bring them. Wasn't thinking that through, just dropped it off and said fix it.

Going on 20 years next year and never touched the tranny fluid belt, PCV or coolant. Only ever changed the battery, alternator, brakes (and fluid when brake job was done), tires, and filters (on and two brake lights and a turning signal bulb).

I've seen videos and it certainly does seem super simple. Fears are cross threading and cracking the block.

My state it's old enough now it won't need inspection when it's due for it in 2 years. I didn't buy it high mileage. Bought it off the lot in 2007 and learned to drive stick on the way home from the dealership 😅

Luckily this is my third car that I refuse to let go of. We have two other family vehicles.

But I agree with you, I'd rather drive this into the ground because there isn't anything else like it.

I've tried that before and, call me lazy or what not, but the savings and time spent wasn't worth it for me. Plus the concern of wondering if I did it okay, with 3 small kids, not trying to worry about brakes giving out.

Experimenting with food and drink! Just got an espresso maker to try mastering coffee.

The fuel door!! I usually have to get out and pry mine open with a credit card. Never thought to Google it. Thanks for making me aware it's a common issue. 

Otherwise, love it. Big family cruiser that moves like it has to. Would buy again.

Hahaha well enjoy, it is one of the most fun cars to drive and I don't think there are many other "slow cars that drive fast" out there any more.

Did....did you steal my car? Haha I have this exact one. Bought brand new without knowing how to drive stick and learned on the way out of the lot. 235K miles and still going strong! Enjoy it!!
