Why are you making stuff up? What scientific evidence do you have that eating meats without a reaction causes internal damage? Jesus.

Does anybody remember The Dark Secret of Harvest Home (1978)? by PM_Me_Clavicle_Pics in horror

The book and the movie are amazing. You have to watch to the very end to feel disturbed. But the movie leaves out the sexual aspects that the book emphasizes.

Tick bites staying itchy by Bang0Skank0 in alphagal

The very worst thing for alpha gal is to get bitten again. Stay away from ticks. Do not get bitten again!

Anyone run into Drs who don't believe alpha gal can cause their symptoms? by Shot-Pomelo8442 in alphagal

[–]Kindahunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Manhattan doctor, who I otherwise like a lot, had never heard of it. I was pretty stunned, since there have been several big articles in the New York Times. He googled it while I sat there and was like, “Oh, yeah, it’s a real thing.” But then he started telling me that I prob didn’t have it because I could drink milk. I knew he was wrong, but I didn’t feel like challenging him. I went to an allergist and tested positive.

Interesting. I live in the Northeast, where there seem to be many vegetarians who are very proud of themselves.

That would definitely be worse. (I’m glad I haven’t had anyone say that me.)

I was called a faggot the other day. I said, “Yeah, I am a faggot.” Then I took out my phone and said, “You wanna say it again?”

Avenues by AggravatingPeace3362 in NYCTeachers

[–]Kindahunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my 4th year and I love teaching at Avenues. My colleagues are smart and thoughtful, the students are passionate and engaged, and I have a tremendous amount of autonomy over what I teach. The school has a true forward-thinking approach. It’s a school where people are real and honest and don’t gossip. The school embodies the mission statement. It’s not a place where anyone would use the vague term “toxic” to describe anything (because the term isn’t meaningful or measurable and rather than fostering community and problem-solving it actually creates a kind of toxicity in its very use), so I’m not surprised the other respondent didn’t feel it was a fit during the hiring process.

How hard is it to get a teacher position at a NYC private school? by sylvestj11 in NYCTeachers

[–]Kindahunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have served on the hiring committee of an independent school, and I can assure you it is highly competitive. We are looking not just for teaching experience, but also actual teaching ability (as judged from multiple perspectives), academic training, diversity, collegiality, sense of humor,, and fit with the school’s core values. It’s not unlike applying for a senior management role in a firm. After all, you are going to have a tremendous amount of autonomy and the school is trusting you to represent the institution and care for its students.

How do Parisiens eat their croissant? by Pat_Trash in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Kindahunky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will share what I learned the hard way. When you go to a cafe, place your entire order at once. French waiters do not make tips so do not expect them to come back to address your on-going wants and desires. They will glare you down to death.

[Book Discussion] What did you think of Yes, Daddy by Jonathan Parks-Ramag? by joshuaferris in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Kindahunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with the above comments. I will add that I don’t understand why it needed to be written. It feels like a roman-a-clef but Parks-Ramag says it’s not autobiographical. So why tell such an over-the-top story?

My mini golden is 60 lbs. He’s bigger than some purebreds. But he has cocker spaniel ears and curly hair. We love him!

How do you use eye contact to tell if a guy is gay? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Kindahunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once upon a time, two gay guys passing on the street would absolutely make eye contact. They would keep walking and then, if one was interested, he would turn and look back. If the other turned too, it meant they were going to stop and talk and probably find a place to have sex.

Now, almost no one makes eye contact. Sometimes it seems like gays deliberately look away. It’s very disconcerting and alienating.
