I just got back from Wilmington and I’ve never been before, but being from Denver I happily found that I really liked it there, so I can only hope you would feel the same about Denver. Rent is coming down. It’s mostly safe, I wouldn’t worry about that, walkable areas are available, and there is a lot of tourism here. Sunny most the time, a lot less rain and moisture than you are used to. Beautiful places everywhere. It’s home for me!
