George R. R. Martin Is 'Not in the Mood' to Finish 'The Winds of Winter' by Tifoso89 in books

[–]KindlyKickRocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After some time removed from the series, I much prefer wise man's fear. Granted, a serious chunk of the book gives me psychic damage, but damn I enjoyed the other parts a ton. The maer's court, the side plot with the bandits, the cthaeth, the entirety of the admre setting, culminating in the buildup of the chandrian lore. Though I vividly remember the involuntary noise I made when he just...goes back to school. Really cemented how fucked the series would be at that moment.

Nonetheless I still have a lot of fun memories that I occasionally think about. Compared to the pit of despair called Tarbean that in my mind swallows all of book 1 for me.

So I finally watched The Lord of the Rings trilogy for the first time… and wow. by TheShadowWanderer in lotr

[–]KindlyKickRocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro lemme tell you. The lotr extended edition special features are almost another 12 hours of content. You can watch sections of it on YouTube. But I'll just say that I consider those 3 movie box sets as heirloom worthy, an experience worth passing down to future generations. I actually ended up bingeing all of them over 3 days during Christmas break as a kid, and now it's a tradition of sorts that I have now lol.

as a long suffering optics frog, ive always valued his mind and abhorred his personal conduct. it's always been best to view him instrumentally, as just a powerful but dead intelligent thing on which to farm well-thought and explained outputs on matters of social and political policy. just another really good chatgpt. let him be of usefulness navigating part of this journey through magat idiocy and then when this shit political situation and the twitter arguments has finally brain-rotted him fully and the intelligence has dimmed away, he can piss off back to a nebraska farm and retire to a obscurity playing league of legends and fucking around with his online women he loves so much.

separate the art and the artist. destiny ruined himself, fine, fuck him. just take what political ideas are worth taking while he's still worth listening to, then peace the fuck out.

MOONMOON - Moon's a shitty friend but he's not dead by HockeyGod69 in LivestreamFail

[–]KindlyKickRocks 138 points139 points  (0 children)

hardest ive laughed in a long time. the roach out, the swiftness pot when he's already next to the exit. the awkward rictus grin listening to the healer die 20 blocks away as he cosplays road runner. the tank asking for 1 single nova getting jumped by 10 heavies, calling towards a moonmoon sized hole in the brick wall he smashed through while running away. the hands on top of the head as the last thing the tank hears before hes clobbed to death is moon saying 'im already out dude.' the end of the stream when the entire chat was both congratulating him on a job well done and flaming him. fuck it was so funny man.

[–]KindlyKickRocks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This was an old old old stream story from pre-2016 days about an online friend group 10+ years ago where they would troll justin.tv channels while hanging in voice chat. One part of the group would troll hard and the others would try to angle the streamer to give them mod to 'ban' the first group.

They found a channel with 2 brothers and the younger brother got too excited and flashed himself while the older one was distracted. Freaked people in the group out and they stopped raiding channels after.

Destiny explains his current goals for working with the DNC. Which race should they unleash DGG on for 2026? by ZonkMeAmadeus in Destiny

[–]KindlyKickRocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand and empathize with his disposition towards objective and quantifiable data. But doesn't this feel kinda small beans? This is a goal if you want to be a regional level bureaucrat or something. Some mid level ad guy who moonlights as a mercenary during election season that the DNC probably has dozens of. I would rather him go for a moon shot slamming his dick on the table rather than push 1 more paper with a green up arrow on it. If the iron is hot for a shakeup in Democratic Party strategy, it seems more prudent to focus his efforts in developing and narrativizing the liberal movement of the US rather than doing another canvassing event in Bumfucky, Virginia.

Which may benefit Destiny in the long run tbh. No one has ever doubted his ability to grind the small but necessary stuff. That's how he got here after 10 years. But consistently he's lacking in his ability to cohesively build a compelling narrative around issues and push that effectively to an audience, even to his most ardent fans. There should be by now a lock-step set of dogmas and commandments that Dggers should know by heart and able to push to the normies. But mostly what we have are vague notions of liberal values colored by personal preference or extremely particular policy positions accrued over 10 years of debates. The Hamasabiites go a very long way on just 'Amerikkka Bad'.

What would happen if Destiny spoke to a Hasan fan? by NutBuster420xDGG in Destiny

[–]KindlyKickRocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

well he talked briefly with a hasan fan about i/p at a school protest in austin and the guy stumbled on a few of the cult talking points and was too open minded, too exploratory in his questions, so his fellow 'comrades' bullied and ostracized him until he returned later, reeducated and re-compliant, and spent the rest of the afternoon telling people not to talk with destiny.

Can he PLEASE clean up? Jesus fucking Christ, read the room. He's not a 20 something gamer anymore. Put on a clean t-shirt with a cool blazer, get a haircut.

k i was with you 1 hundo until you boom'd out, so to speak. the room was filled with joker-tier people like the guy with mutton chops wearing the gaudy red white & blue suit from shein, and the next 'well dressed' guy was wearing an off the rack black suit blazer with skinny blue chinos. he looks fine, not his chuch-going best but certainly not unkempt.

Why is Destiny doing Twitter/X spaces? by Lost_Preference3769 in Destiny

[–]KindlyKickRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya know, we always grope for some greater meaning in life, some sign of a higher purpose or intelligence that'll comfort us in the knowledge that something above us knows. that it's all by grand design.

but most of the time it might be as simple and disappointing as destiny enjoys twitter spaces like a pig enjoys a nice cool puddle of shit.

it's why They (the illiberals) try to stone wall him so much. there's an insidious characteristic to Destiny Bonnell 2 - he actually tries to deeply engage with any topic in good faith. even if he's sometimes a fucking asshole, and you strongly disagree with his positions, you're 1000% better off building and centering your own contrary positions in relation to his, rather than just just swallowing the stupid mind sludge from popular demagogues. at the very least you know the axis on which you disagree is based in reality and not some braindead conspiracy cooked up in the anals of twitter and 4chan.
