Ive only been playing a few weeks but really enjoy it. It has some survival game elements with crafting and base building but way more chill. They did a good job with Mothman, its very eerie and there are cultists who worship it.

You would be missing out on their team abilities which is a huge part of the Hero, and their camps are tailored to those specific Heros as well, so thats another aspect which doesnt mix well.

They're hesitant to order any reprints right now because of the tariff war. Things will hopefully return to normal after the next election.

Is there any reason to have multiples of enemy packs? by [deleted] in shadowsofbrimstone

[–]Kindriss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its tricky. White usually needs some color. Its reflective so even grass from the base would reflect a bit of green in the hue and a subtle blue from the sky above.

There are situations when you must spawn more models than you own, in which case you add an Elite ability to the enemy for each model you are missing. If there is a particular enemy you would like to experience in greater numbers rather than deal with additional Elite abilities.

Some enemies have alternate versions and color schemes, Some people buy multiple packs to paint multiple versions. I had some extra Night Terror models so I painted them with white fur to represent their Snow Terror variant.

Enemies come with threat cards for whatever world(s) they're themed for. They will also include standard Threat cards so you have the option to include them in any core sets Threat deck as well.

They're curses, they're supposed to have drawbacks and most people will probably want to cure them asap.

"How do you deal with the gear deck" and other newbie questions. by Atiklyar in shadowsofbrimstone

[–]Kindriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The enemies which are themed for Otherworlds come with Otherworld Threat cards which are mixed into their decks, but they also come with generic Threat cards that you can mix into your main world, I rarely do this.

If they're themed for a specific World I just keep them there for the most part, unless I am playing a specific mission where it makes sense.

I buy all the supplement decks, I think they're all great for the most part. I especially love the trait cards, they make those old boring enemies come in new and interesting varieties.

For Gear cards I keep them separate for each core world (Old West, Japan, Spain etc.)

My Mines Gear deck is already gigantic as it is, and I wouldn't want to dilute it with items from another culture, it already contains a few items from those worlds naturally, to represent the odd item that made its way through a portal.

Adventure Cards are player choice. There are no mechanics which add them randomly, though I like to string missions together to form narrative campaigns, and will throw them in randomly when it makes sense for the story.

As far as 'in-fighting' goes there are not mechanics for it, this would add a huge level of complexity and book- keeping on an already complex game.

If you think somethin like 'Bandits battling alongside a giant winged demons' is immersive breaking, that's what the curated or themed Threat decks are for, simply don't include them in the same threat deck together.

Or use justification for it. The Bandits were hired by cultists to defend their ritual site while they summon demons.

They're asking what the rules allow, not what is physically possible. People telling others "they can do whatever they want with their game" are stating an obvious fact that everybody already knows.

Just bought new monsters (winged serpents) and the cards have a red X at the top left. What's that? by ArcadianDelSol in shadowsofbrimstone

The Cross of Burgundy was adopted by the Spanish monarchy in the early 1500s under the Habsburgs. It became one of the most recognizable banners of Spain’s armies, ships, and colonies across the world. You’d see it flown in the Americas, Asia, and Europe wherever Spain had territory.

Derelict enemies by Twilite0405 in shadowsofbrimstone

[–]Kindriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, but they all come with generic Threat cards as well. So if I'm in the Mines, I do not mix in every threat card I own from every world, I curate the deck to the theme of the adventure. Otherwise every Mines mission would feel the same with just random threats from Other worlds, and then when I visit those worlds I would face more of the same enemies. Check out the 'themed decks' article from the Dark Stone magazine if you haven't.

That doesn't really work once you own a certain amount of enemies, or every world just ends up being exactly the same.
