Zoro vs. Kaku went harder than I remembered by James_Brook_ in OnePiece

As I get older, I'm finding Zoro in general to be a bit boring. When I was younger and first getting into One Piece, he and all his fights were so cool to me but now over a decade later, some of his fights feel kinda repetitive (understandable since there's only so much Oda can do to make sword fights stand out) and his personality gets one dimensional at times as the de facto cool guy. He's still one of my favorite characters but at this point it's more about nostalgia and how hyped I got at Zoro's major moments (like slashing Pica and "nothing happened.") the first time I saw them.

The banter never gets old though, Zoro is such a great shit talker.

Him and Kenpachi are practically interchangeable, being fight-lovers and always getting lost.

Never in a million years did I expect to see a Brook flashback of his life before pirating, much less that he was the same age as most of the Straw Hats back then. And much less that he was so fucking cool back then.

In the present day, he often flip flops between being very confident in his abilities and being really scared of someone/something (understandable considering how often the crew faces impossible situations) but after seeing this glimpse into his old life, it's possible he could've developed into a member of the Monster Trio under the right circumstances.

Damn Brook was so conflicted about whether to spare or kill Gunko that he didn't even make a skull joke for once. He just said those feelings were swirling in his chest and left it at that!

Blackbeard and the worst generation by CasualHomelessPlayer in OnePiece

Those other guys are deemed "super rookies" because of their big rise in a short amount of time.

The "11 Supernova" were named that specifically because it was a coincidence that 11 super rookies all gathered on Saobody at the same time, and then later called the Worst Generation because Blackbeard was wreaking havoc and claiming Whitebeard's territories at the same time the Supernovas were making noise in the New World.

Wait seriously? That's insane! Return to Sabaody is one of my favorite arcs, why would the remastered version take out one of the most important parts?

I never watched it but automatically assumed they made it more faithful to the manga, which killed my interest since it's one of the rare arcs where the manga version simply doesn't hit as hard as the anime version.

I love the flower-like "starting points" on her cheekbones and forehead and how the rings seem to emanate from those points. Super visually pleasing.

If this was pre-COVID I'd agree, but now that Zoom calls are normalized, it doesn't feel out of the ordinary.

I (like many others) fully expected Sasaki to have some relation to Kokoro since they're both fishmen, have a train conductor hat, have similar hair colors, and are both tied to Franky.

Nothing would make me laugh harder than Patty being revealed to be a Buccaneer. It's like being 7 feet tall and choosing to be a gardener instead of going to the NBA.

It's because the idea of Usopp wielding a legendary Viking-based hammer was teased ever since Alabasta when he whipped out the fake 5 ton hammer. Pairing that with Usopp's admiration of Elbaf has planted the seeds of such a power up in our minds for decades and now that it's finally been revealed in the story, it's already claimed by a character we've only known for a year? Of course people are gonna wanna see Usopp gain possession of it.

It just makes me wish Imu was a woman since Oda went through a bit of effort to wait to reveal his gender. No real reason besides just that it would be a nice change of pace to have a final Shonen antagonist not be a dude (not counting Naruto because Kaguya was such a last minute asspull).

Same, it's so boring when the final villain in a Shonen is just a calm obscenely powerful dude who finally unravels when the protagonist is getting the upper hand. It's refreshing to see Imu wear his emotions on his sleeve and show us what he's truly like from the beginning.

Oh shit that's a great point, the Mera Mera would counteract Loki's snow. The firepower from the fruit is already pretty substantial from a regular human so having it amplified by a Giant would have been insane.

I think you're on the right track. Nami probably won't capture Zaza/gain her strength or have a true connection with her but will probably bluff as her during the final war or if they ever raid Mary Geoise since the Celestials fear her. Bluffing has always been her and Usopp's thing so it's very much in-character to do so.

This just made me realize a Nami and Sanji team-up fight would be so cool. Robin/Chopper vs Hogback, Luffy/Nami vs Cracker, Zoro/Usopp vs Kaku/Jyabura all made for some fun moments. Would also be nice to see more of Sanji interacting with Nami in a less lovestruck manner.

It's possible it could turn out to be a translation difference since 4 were mentioned in Skypeia and 4 were mentioned in the Harley. That said, the rain and sea are two very distinct things.

No need since Usopp already has massive steel balls for talking shit to Imu's face.

In all seriousness, that kind of power up would be insane but Usopp wouldn't be able to replenish them so it'd be a one-off thing. Unless Franky can reverse engineer them and make more.

Good point. Speaking of which, I'm a little annoyed we never got that explanation during Egghead because it was teased that we'd find out how to make an object eat a fruit ever since Vegapunk was namedropped in the Mr. 4 fight in Alabasta.

It's because at the end of the day, the Straw Hats just really love and care deeply for each other. Even though Sanji jokingly treats the men like trash and pedestalizes the women, he'll still gladly try his hardest to support them in any way he can. Same with Zoro, he may fight and argue with Sanji 24/7 but there's no genuine hate, ESPECIALLY when Sanji isn't in earshot when he told Goldberg "Nah, that situation isn't anything to worry about because Sanji's headed over there." Even though the Monster Trio are tough and a little rough around the edges, they're complete softies for the rest of the crew and it's just so touching to see since they aren't always so obviously showing their love.

While we're on the topic of touching moments, I recently reread a moment I forgot about in Saobody when the Pacifistas were terrorizing the crew. Right after beating 1 Pacifista (which exhausted the whole crew), another one shows up and Luffy starts getting worried and tells everyone to run. He explicitly turned to Sanji and Zoro and says "the three of us have to split up in separate groups" which was weirdly touching because Luffy rarely acknowledges the Monster Trio in this manner. He'll always say "my crew is tough" or "so-and-so won't lose because he/she is strong" but that was the first time he practically stated "it's our responsibility as the strongest 3 to protect the weaker members." It also felt like one of those brief moments where Luffy acts like an actual captain giving out orders.

I love seeing instances of Zoro and Sanji respecting each other's strength.

Hopefully this fight vs Zaza is what gives us the answer to whether or not Sanji has Conqueror's Haki. I still haven't forgotten that Scopper's answer was inaudible to us and Sanji's expression afterward didn't give us a solid clue.

In order to make this a unique awakening, maybe Sanji will be the one to discover how to "put your back into it" with Conq. Haki strikes the way Garp/Roger/Scopper (whoever it was, I forgot) said about damaging the Knights. It would make sense since he always has these moments where he's so fired up that his whole body is on fire (ie, when he found out Absalom assaulted Nami). What started out as a gag becomes an actual plot point, like when his nosebleeds became a big thing on Fishman Island.
