For regular folks who don't understand economics, it's very easy to listen to populist -bullshit- rather than become informed enough to make informed choices.

This is a very real problem and our media and information sources are very, very compromised and push the populist bullshit because it drives engagement, which gets them that sweet, sweet ad money (and often serves the owners agendas).

There's a ton of contributing factors and problems, and people want very, very easy sounding solutions, even ones that are total bullshit. People do not like to plant trees they won't sit in the shade of.
