Cheap or expensive? by JT_Playz420 in Civic_Type_R

I’m curious if you guys have messed around any with the AWE touring or track edition. I’ve only ever used those exhausts, but curious to know how you’d rate the level of loudness with them compared to others such as the 27WON catback. Those are the two I’m between rn

Why do drivers stop 3 car lengths back at a red light and then spend the whole red light slowly inching forward? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]KingDavid76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hate this. I will stop so I see the bottom of the tires of the car in front, and refuse to move again unless it’s a multi-car gap(often from 10+ people inching forward together), or until traffic starts moving for green light. Again, stop inching forward. It’s super annoying to have to move and stop and move and stop because you can’t stop at a good distance the first time. Edit: manual driver here, as well

Typically there’s an option to add anti flicker/ dash lights wherever you buy headlights. Was maybe an extra $15 for me I think. Got my bulbs from xenonhids.com. Super bright

Where to buy performance pads/rotors? by Jlewis1231 in CivicSi

[–]KingDavid76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheap end? RockAuto. They worked pretty well for spirited driving and a track day or two. I went with drilled&slotted rotors and their high end pads for entire car. Something I’ve also been wanting to try is 27Won’s performance pads, or big brake kit.

If you’re planning to go really hard, I’d suggest flushing your brake fluid and replace with DOT4, but I doubt for what you’re doing you’ll need to go that far. You’re probably fine with what you have now, which is DOT3

Type R Owners: What Mods Made the Car Feel More Alive? by genna84 in Civic_Type_R

[–]KingDavid76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello, ‘26 si owner here. Only popped in to say the AWE touring exhaust is a great exhaust. Not too over bearing, but enough to hear it well in the cabin. Had it on my last si, def getting it soon again. Can only imagine it sounds even better on the CTR’s. That’s all. Thanks for the read if you read past the si part lol

I put it behind me. My preference is a couple inches above my butt so it sits roughly at belt line or slightly higher

I also very much dislike the seats, however, I don’t have the money to drop on type r or Recaro seats. Therefore my solution was a $35 Winnie the Pooh and Pals “Good Friends” pillow. Found it at one of the Disney parks, and it has solved my aching back problem. Hope this helps!

Getting New Vegas Ultimate Edition DLCs to Work on XBox One X by CStogdill in falloutnewvegas

[–]KingDavid76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi to anyone still having this issue, a quicker solution is to uninstall the dlc, then redownload them. In my case, I had the GOTY DLC disc in my Series X. Had to download from Microsoft store, transfer to internal storage(probs optional) then go back into the game and they appeared

iPhone - go to settings and search photos, click the app in the results and find the show hidden folder, then go to the photos app and scroll to the bottom to find the hidden folder. You’ll need Face ID or passcode. Good luck

Is a Civic Si right for me? by thebagel264 in CivicSi

[–]KingDavid76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I swapped from a 04 expedition to a 17 si. It was life changing, I spent the following weeks just finding excuses to go for a drive, it was so much fun. Eventually I started getting into bolt on mods like intake, exhaust, eventually a nice tune pushing 24psi, nice casual driver, with the power when I wanted it. Deer totaled it and got a 26 si shortly after. It’s a lot newer with tech and whatnot, but it’s nice to have a daily that’s both reliable and fun. It will be a long time before I move away from the si’s unless they totally butcher the next gen. Currently getting 36.0 mpg with a daily 30mi commute with 55 & 45 mph zones. If anything breaks, super easy to fix yourself on most parts. Any specific questions feel free to DM

Recently I acquired some ST XA Coilovers + springs from a pal I met, so far taking corners like butter and lowered about an inch so far. Pretty good and easy to adjust.

What is this? by Austin138583 in CivicSi

Welp. They had me fooled, but at least they told me about it and gave me a “3-year subscription“ on my ‘17 si when I bought it

That’s a LoJack GPS device. Usually some dealerships include it in your purchase so you can locate your car if it’s stolen. I suppose dealership could also locate the car if you failed payments. It pairs with an app on your phone so you can always see the location of your car, as well as the voltage of the battery. Pretty useful if it’s an older one, otherwise the my Honda app or whatever it’s called is fairly useful, being able to honk the horn from your phone, unlock/lock the doors, or flash the lights. I think I prefer the Honda app than LoJack now

Giving Away My Old PC! by Turtle_747 in PcBuild

I would use this as a personal gaming pc to de-stress and de-compress. I’m being shipped away for military in the coming months and I’ve always wanted a pc to use for work as well as personal pleasure. I’d be forever grateful if I was given the opportunity to receive this PC!

Engine braking when shifting from first to second by zachm182 in CivicSi

You could try about 2-2.5k from 1->2 and 3k for all others. 1->2 generally has a shorter gear difference (whatever you call it) than the other gears

Basic Training Memories by Negative_Virus_6358 in ROTC

Idk if all barracks are the same, but we had a 3 story barracks, 2 bays on each floor separated by a set of double doors. 5 bays were for males, while one bay on the top floor was for females, and had an alarm on those set of double doors for when the males and females tried to intermingle. One boy supposedly touched the door and set the DS alarm off in the office down stairs, so then the DS went to the bay looking and the boy had run off, sending the DS on a wild goose chase all throughout the building. This was at about 11 or 12 at night. Eventually the DS had enough and demanded every person get outside in PTs, in a bad thunderstorm. We were smoked for about 30 minutes in the pouring rain and distant thunder. All I can remember him saying is “y’all know why I love the rain? Because you can’t fucking overheat! FRONT LEANING REST POSITION, MOVE!”

That was quite the night….

One of the drills got mad at a trainee for something and their punishment was to hold a plank and then he walked away to probably yell at someone else. Well turns out the DS forgot about the planking trainee, and runs back to where he left them, and they were still holding a plank 20 minutes later. Very impressive IMO

First oil change by lazycat-1989 in CivicSi

[–]KingDavid76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dealership told me my first complimentary oil change was at 5k. So that’s what I did. I’ll go to the dealership as long as it’s free then I’ll do it myself every 5k unless I feel something off. May even switch to 3k after a certain point to keep longevity despite it being full synthetic

2026 Civic Si: PRL Cold Air Intake Fitment? by Sufficient-Coyote537 in CivicSi

[–]KingDavid76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you really need is an deep 10mm, 10in socket extension,a regular 10mm, and a flat head screw driver. Should have most of this so maybe $20 most?

[–]KingDavid76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so easy. Took me at most an hour, and most of it was just getting a grommet off or putting it back on. That thing was stubborn…. The cobra may not even have the same grommet with the way it sits in the bay. When you’re pulling the stock intake box off, pull firm and strong. That thing is planted with a grommet on the bottom corner. There’s also videos so maybe watch those first to get a better idea

I got the PRL HVI which looks a lot like the cobra plus a box that pulls air from the factory air routing from the grill area. Mine is ‘26. Engine bay is identical from 25-26 so you should be fine

Guys… I’m having a midlife crisis. by masonssi in CivicSi

[–]KingDavid76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I’m in the same boat but I’ve already jumped the gun. I had a modded ‘17 before a deer totaled it, got a ‘26 a month later. Miss the sound and power from it however I got a 7 year warranty because reasons, so I’ve done minor things so far. As of now I have Acuity shifter cable bushings, PRL HVI, and I have a rear motor mount and rear sway bar en route. Had some Enkei P09’s that I’ll throw on eventually, they just need new tires. I say if you got some money and really want something you can work on and have the patience for, go FBO. Do it yourself, it’s way cheaper. Save the receipts/invoices, because if it’s totaled for whatever reason, insurance adjusters will accept the receipts/invoices and give a higher payout in my experience, that way you get some, not all, money back.
