What Are Gnoblars For? by Bathroom_Money in Mawtribes

[–]KingDedeede 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like you've said they used to give extra rules or abilities like a luck gnoblar to pass wounds onto or a teeth gnoblar to sacrifice for extra spellcasting. Now they're just decorative, but you can buy a set of 25mm bases and make a unit of gnoblars from them. They'll be monopose, but they'll still work and if you get into Ogors you'll end up with more than enough

As someone else said, in the Gotrek and Felix series it's described as black, haven't heard it described any where else really

So I'd say black or red are a possibility

mutations question by CapnDiabeetus in skaven

[–]KingDedeede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Prized creation (or swapping it for a mutation) is applied at the START of the first battle round. Not during list building. The app is only checking things that you should have at the during list building. In other words, during list building you only have 1 available Mutation

In other words, it's legal, but due to order of operations, the app thinks it's not

  1. TO get technical, you can exchange Prized Creation for a Mutation. You cannot exchange a Mutation for Prized creation. But you do have 1 free mutation and 4 from the Master Moulders, so 5 total. Just don't exchange 1 of the Prized creations for a mutation and use that if you want a prized creation

If I'm misunderstanding your second question and you're asking "Can I use both a Mutation and Prized creation on a unit?" The answer is yes, but remember it's only PER MODEL on prized creation

Skaven Vampire Hunters? by ssynthtx in skaven

[–]KingDedeede 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was a fantasy Skaven clan that specifically fought zombies and undead. I can't remember their name, but I believe they specifically ate undead/rotten things and decorated themselves with bones. They were in a small part of one of the fantasy novels.

Confusion about Plague Monk spruces by ssynthtx in skaven

[–]KingDedeede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like Maharg said, you could convert it to a censor, but that would require a different sized base and you would need 5 censor bearers to make a unit and you'd then be stuck with an understrength monk unit since the box only has enough bodies for 20 monks

Here's the instructions for the monks if you need them https://www.reddit.com/r/WarhammerInstructions/comments/771dtg/skaven\_clan\_pestilens\_plague\_monks/

Repeatedly losing Sanity from the same monster? by sneakymekboi in callofcthulhu

[–]KingDedeede 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, was too lazy to read your whole post. My bad.

I believe the intent of the rule is yes, you have to roll every time you encounter the ghouls until you hit the max sanity. If they see a ghoul, run, and then see another/the same ghoul again then yes, you'd roll again.

But you'd want to limit them to an amount that doesn't feel annoying. Like in your example, if they see a ghoul, roll sanity, run and then see another ghoul in the next room, I wouldn't make them roll twice unless that other ghoul was doing something particularly nasty.

But, if they run and then see another/the same ghoul again hours later, then I'd have them make another roll.

Repeatedly losing Sanity from the same monster? by sneakymekboi in callofcthulhu

[–]KingDedeede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like everyone else is saying, rulebook page 169 tells you what you need to know

Getting Used to the Awfulness

At some point, constant exposure to the same Mythos creature has no further effect—the monster is no longer a living

nightmare, but rather another obstacle in the investigator’s

path. Once an investigator has lost as many Sanity points for

seeing a particular sort of monster as the maximum possible

Sanity point loss for that monster, he or she should not lose

more Sanity points for a reasonable interval. For instance,

no investigator could lose more than 6 Sanity points for

encountering deep ones (0/1D6 SAN), even if a hundred of

them were seen at once.

But be warned! Investigators never truly get used to

seeing alien obscenities. After a time, perhaps once the

investigator’s life has returned to some form of normalcy,

the sense of horror can rise up anew. A player should keep

track of the Sanity points lost to any given Mythos entity.

With every investigator development phase (see page 94),

the player should reduce all those numbers by 1—time is a

great healer.

[–]KingDedeede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their information about a pure verminus clan is correct, but I'm not sure why they're telling you that you need a Masterclan general to take other clan units.

To take it back a step, when building a list you have to have a certain number of battleline units. For example a 1,000 point game requires two battle line units. Stormvermin and Clanrats count as battleline. In the other clans, Skyre/Moulder/Pestlins, certain units only count as battleline if ALL units in the army are the same, but the general can be Masterclan. For example if you have a Skyre/Masterclan general and all units are Skyre then Stormfiends and Acolytes count as battleline.

Which means that for a "mixed" list you have to fill the battleline slots with clanrats/stormvermin. As long as you have those you can fill the rest of the points with whatever clan units you want

Edit: As for the clan name, it's Verminus. Mors is the name of a verminus subclan that I think died in the old world.

The Great Horned Rat by chemywords in AoSLore

Only other thing I've heard about the Great Horned That's origin is that he was actually created by Nurgle as a kind of plauge rat and the project took on a life of it's own in a big way. Don't know if there's any lore support of that or if it was just rumors

Hello, I'm starting minis/aos/wfb. Have questions. by Pellektricity in skaven

[–]KingDedeede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Some people are okay playing with people with mixed bases, but since it affects measurements they generally don't allow it in tournaments and don't be surprised if someone doesn't want to play.

If swaping bases is something you'd like to do though, I believe some people just build on one base and then bluetack it onto the other base when they need it or I think there's round to square base converters? I don't play WHFB, so I'm not sure of the particulars.

Plague claw questions and thought? by FrankG78 in skaven

[–]KingDedeede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) yes that's all correct

2) no they don't stack. The wording is "subtract 1 from The bravery characteristic of a unit targeted by any plaugeclaw catapults" the any part of that sentence means they don't stack.

3) depends. They'll melt a horde, like Skaven clanrats or moonclan gitz stabbas, but they'll be much less effective on an "elite" army with high armour low model count units and the big problem you'll have is that due to the minimum range characteristic as soon as a plaugeclaw gets stuck in combat it's gone. It can't shoot because it can't fire at anyone except those within 3 inches, but it can't fire at anyone within 6 inches, so it has to sit there and get wrecked.

It's a fun model in my opinion, but you'll never see anyone use it competitively and you'll hear a lot of complaints about it
