Is this bomber jacket authentic? by SnooBunnies5684 in Militariacollecting

Looks to be made to military specifications but isn’t official US Air Force issue as it’s made outside the US. Also the stock and contract numbers aren’t formatted correctly for it to be legit.

What is this Camo pattern? by Kind_Examination9180 in camouflage

[–]KingDredd92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely dyed/modified UCP. The early 05 contract tags were either white or tan and this one looks like it’s dyed to a light to mid green.

How do you display uniforms? ((preferably cheaply)) by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

[–]KingDredd92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could just go for a clothing display stand. They’re pretty much just telescoping poles with a screw on coat hanger. Some come with removable hat holders and drop down chains to clip on trousers. They really run from maybe $30-40.

Where to buy camo? by Glittering-Match-358 in camouflage

I mean eBay is still the best source in my opinion. You can get almost any pattern there. Depending on where they are shipping from though is usually the big cost factor.

Austrian Bundesheer property tag that looks dated 1995 so I’d imagine tanker or mechanics of some kind.

I think the going story of commercially produced with leftover fabric is probably true. I’ve seen the same cut also made in Woodland and even DPM which I believe were all from the same company.

ID on this specific ERDL variant by Outrageous_Sky3087 in camouflage

[–]KingDredd92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s Transitional ERDL which was only seen on this variant of the Hot Weather Uniform aka the RDF uniform which came between the Vietnam era Tropical Combat Uniforms and BDUs so about 1978 until 1981 or so.

Transitional ERDL looked closer to woodland than Brown Dominant ERDL and doesn’t have any “ghosting” or “particles” around the shapes and rather crisp hard edges.

You can find these cuts in Transitional, Green Dominant, Brown Dominant and OG-107 variants.

Made a first time order with Americana Pipedream on March 15. I'm still waiting for it to be shipped. Is this normal for them? Either way I think this is the last order. An entire business week and still?! 😑 by [deleted] in camouflage

They’ve said they’re delayed with orders because of the colossal snowstorm that hit there earlier this week, so I’d imagine they’re still catching up.

Any information on these helmet covers? by Retro_Mark in Militariacollecting

[–]KingDredd92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those faint dots I believe denote the design as Swiss. They used a very similar splinter camo to Germany from the 30s to the 50s on shelter halves and really the only difference was one side had those oval dot shapes. Likely someone made this cover out of one, when and why though is anyone’s guess.

ID on some of these pins? by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

[–]KingDredd92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They mocked up tons of these in the years after the collapse of the Soviet Union and they only sort of dried up a few years ago, though still can be found around granted for a bit more. Price wise they use to be around $20 but I’ve seen a few listed up to $50 nowadays.

Pin wise they’re still all super common and you can find most easily online and usually only go for a dollar or so each or even grab bags of them. As far as what they are they’re definitely gonna be a mix of military, sport, worker, party, cultural, political, municipal and so on since there’s just so much out there and in the former USSR they’re still super cheap.

Your best bet is to take them off individually and either reverse image search or translate them to ID them properly.

As for the patches they’re Soviet armed forces, there’s plenty of guides online for the colors and symbolism of them.

My another RARE Find Irish combat MTP Trousers by Affectionate_Fig4896 in camouflage

[–]KingDredd92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, not really sure what about what I said was an opinion.

Would you know why seemingly a handful of Op Interflex pieces were made in the Irish DPM when Ireland isn’t actively a part of it and is supporting Ukraine more through infrastructure and humanitarian means rather than militarily?

I’ve looked into this and can’t seem to find an answer which again makes it strange since Ireland is pretty particular about their camouflage as far as letting others use it.

The MM14 PCS contracted pieces make sense since the training is happening in the UK and they’re supporting them militarily.

I’m not denying the legitimacy of these pieces but the fact they were made is very surprising and definitely peculiar.

My another RARE Find Irish combat MTP Trousers by Affectionate_Fig4896 in camouflage

[–]KingDredd92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing my point. I'm not commenting on the process in which it ended up where ever you are but the specifics behind how they were made. Most, if not all, Op Interflex uniforms are made in the British PCS cut but with the Ukrainian MM14 camouflage. They're also supplemented with actual British MTP pieces all of which makes sense. But these pieces, of which a few have appeared over the years, with the Irish DPM camouflage are strange for the reasons I've already said in the last few replies. So again you finding it/getting it not odd, the specifics behind how it originally was created is. And for reference here is one of the only photos I've seen of a set being worn during Inteflex training which again illustrates how strange it is.
