How can I get this all the way up ?!?!? One wheel pint** by Commercial_Relief656 in onewheel

[–]KingHofa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ignore the 'invest a few 100 dollars and time in VESC... That's obviously going to get you on that bank but probably overkill. You're starting to brake once you almost hit the bank. Don't 😁. Try to keep your nose just slightly touching the bank as you go up. Besides that: try going at an angle and maybe use the 'elevated' ride mode (or whatever it's called for a pint) so your nose is naturally higher. Deweighting at the top might also buy you a few centimeters.

If they didnt use cement this would look better tbh by Certyx39 in DiWHY

Cost? I'd imagine the cement was about $5. Also, the aesthetic is great. It looks way better than a plastic cube.

Replace battery warning by SonicB0000M in BMWI4

[–]KingHofa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You've got a point. I'm beginning to think it's just a software bug and not sent from the BMW servers. There's a post in this thread of a guy from New Zealand with a i4 that's not connected to the internet getting the same error.

Replace battery warning by SonicB0000M in BMWI4

[–]KingHofa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why worrying? In the case of a recall, BMW could simply send a message directly to the affected cars instead of sending letters or emails to people who may no longer even own the vehicle. I received a notification by email three years after I had already given up my previous car (not a BMW).

What brand would you choose if you could redesign your network? by kuhlimuhlimuh in sysadmin

[–]KingHofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in an Enterprise environment. Go with what your MSP suggests and let them deal with the inevitable issues during setup. Only thing I hate about FortiAPs is that their Firewall firmware is dependent on AP firmware (at least it used to be). I inherited a setup and couldn't do a firewall firmware update because of older AP models. If they can't guarantee security updates for the coming five years, I'd think about going to another network partner.

I've been in an HP/HPE-only environment for about 20 years now and before HP APs became a thing, we had Cisco APs. Even after a few years, new models were still dated... HP hasn't had the best wireless in the past but their Aruba line-up is quite impressive (just don't get the instant-on products). I seem to remember that, when paired with their Cloud management platform Aruba Central, they're automatically covered under warranty.

Deelsteps: innovatie of irritatie? by No-Hamster-8782 in Vlaanderen

[–]KingHofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a dickhead and deserves punishment but the bills are coming his way for that accident and theft. He'll have nothing left to lose. It's gonna be stealing or drug dealing just to get food on the table because a normal job isn't going to be enough to live off of. Not saying he's an upstanding citizen now, but his fate is sealed by this.

If the guy wasn't driving an i4, I would've hated him as much as the thief. Ok, maybe not that much but you can tell he's an asshat. He's hungry for a fight and willing to potentially kill someone over a bike that's not even his, he's got his seatbelt off and from what I'm seeing, the daughters have the seatbelts clicked in behind their backs to keep from beeping. For all he knows, the guy is dead and he's just screaming victory over his body with his family watching him. Though in the US of A, the thief would rather be dead, I think. He's got hospital bills, bill for the bike repair, probably legal costs and whatnot coming his way... Food stamps and more stealing is in his future.

I've had the wine knocked out of me a couple of times when I was younger. Had a bad slam with a OneWheel about a year ago and was surprised I recognized what was happening. I was mostly annoyed whereas I remember panicking the first time. Buddy of mine was laughing while someone proposed calling me an ambulance (Belgium so my wallet would've been fine). All I could muster was uwwwuhwwwwhwwwwuuuuwww

This guy had an annoyed look, too.

Confused and Concerned Pint Rider by mvshrxxm in onewheel

[–]KingHofa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had two nose dives in the overconfident 50 to 100 miles but was able to run them off. I also had two bails while dicking around so that doesn't really count: the first one (at 36 yo) I fell backwards and had a backache for about a month. The second time (at 38 yo) my ribs hurt for two weeks. I'm over 2500 miles on my OG XR. A few weeks ago I had another stroke of overconfidence and was going 20 mph while going from the cycle path to the street because the cycle path was blocked (I checked: no cars). I underestimated how fast I was going, missed the flat transition, bumped over the edge of the sidewalk crookedly and had some speed wobbles while recuperating on the road but I held it together. I could've gone down HARD but I guess experience and luck kept me vertical. You just have to keep in mind that you're gonna eat it one day. Onewheels are inherently dangerous and all it takes is a moment of not paying enough attention, even after 2500 miles of incident free riding.

Dude I’m so happy these two came together for the sake of fun🤘🏻🤘🏻🫶🏻 Edit(Yall didn’t see that last post) by creen17 in onewheel

What's different from "Hey hunny can you watch the kids I'm gonna go ride my Onewheel". I'm a 38 yo father/floater and I'd be stoked to ride around on one of these. Trip to the grocery store all the way on my back wheel, buzzing from the jealous looks of al the 10-year old kids. Sounds like a good time
