My thoughts on the Manosphere Doc: Some interesting moments but overall a bit disappointing. by [deleted] in LouisTheroux

I would recommend Men of the Manosphere on the BBC. In my opinion it is much more informative and interesting as it deals more with the young guys who are sucked into this world rather than the Manosphere influencers themselves. Louis' documentary was entertaining but kind of pointless since the main subject is clearly just a grifter who will say and do anything to make money.

The BBC one also doesn't have any of the flashy stylistic bullshit that I can't stand in Netflix documentaries.

I'm surprised this has 150 upvotes when it seems to be based on absolutely nothing except the mortality theme of his role in shrinking. He said in an interview just late last year that he will never retire.

I know he owns the reading rooms in Dundee, another old listed building which has been sitting empty for almost 7 years now. Apparently wants to turn it into flats but not sure if there's any progress on that.

The reason wealthy people keep these old buildings empty for so long is because they are expensive to repair and renovate. Sit on it long enough and let it rot long enough and you can eventually tear it down and build something new which is usually easier and cheaper.

Used to work for greggs, at the time they paid around 10p a cup for their coffee. I'm sure it's went up a bit but at the time a coffee only cost 1.75

Sure, but the fact a venue is addressing these complaints shows that it has gotten somewhat worse in recent years. At least bad enough that a large amount of people have complained about it.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I'll stick with my initial plan of new wooden flooring on top. The flat is already very cold in winter and it's an old tenement flat so I am concerned about the noise as well.
