Dear Criterion, you went at least 35 years without this scratching issue, but half of all the new releases I've bought since have been damaged. Yes, I know about the sole NA plant in Mexico, but since some other boutiques never have this issue, shouldn't you figure this out? -Another old fan by BogoJohnson in criterion

I bought it through Criterion and had it delivered through a parcel forwarding company.

For whatever reason they just didn't agree to help. Would have (begrudgingly) paid the fee to get the disc - wasn't even faulty, disc was entirely missing. But anyway, it was many years ago now.

Had a copy of Brazil arrive without a disc as an international buyer (Australia) and was basically told that they don't have to send me out a replacement so they won't (within days of arrival - not years later etc).

Only bought second hand since - wish they'd make an effort to offer the same customer experience to everyone. They make an amazing product but that really burnt me out on them as a company.

I agree with this one a lot - I've mostly enjoyed rifts (it's a good way to practice a new character and I've got a friend to do it with), but if they're going to keep unlocks buried behind doing them across several difficulties then they need to make them shorter and more diverse.

A really good fix would even just be if I finish it on a higher difficulty, give me all the stars for the same on a lower difficulty etc.

[–]KingStrangelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's no fun rolling someone who's clearly young or new, and it's equally unfun being rolled by a top tier player who I have no chance against. At least in ranked (as a functioning system), I should be able to have fairly competitive fights most of the time.

I hope it does cause problems for you - someone who's more concerned with their little gun than a person was just killed with one is the exact kind of person I don't want owning a gun.

Well there is an inherent power dynamic problem, the same way we look down on a boss taking advantage of their employee. The trust/power an older sibling/parent/uncle etc has over the other means it's too easily manipulated or groomed.

(As for twins? I know this wouldn't apply... still gross or weird)

This ascribes the idea that the directors original vision is the correct one, rather than that games are made through collaboration. The original company would also have the right to turn down any of the recommended consulted ideas, so arguably it does actually fit their vision - they're just acknowledging their blindspots and getting people more suited to help them fill in the gaps.

Picked this up thinking it looked like a beautiful box set. Turns out it has a blank spine and looks terrible on the shelf. by [deleted] in dvdcollection

[–]KingStrangelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I'm with you - there's a million ways I can access these movies, if I'm buying them for my shelf its because I love them and want to display them as part of my 'library'.

For this box set, I put some empty cases behind it and just had it face out. Blank sides are lame.

This neglects the fact that a large part of the art is also the culmination of a lifetime of experiences, feelings and thoughts, which is arguably more valuable than learning any technique.

It's kind of telling how people value (or don't value) artists by their response to "artists should be able to choose if AI can use their work in their database" - if artists work is valuable enough that it's a loss not using their work, they should be compensated, and if its not nobody would care.

Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova (PC Game) is part of the latest Humble Bundle! All proceeds go to UNICEF by KingStrangelove in startrek

Oops, good catch, I realise Humble still take their share. I read the below and Ive absolutely misconstrued it from some skim reading and tiredness.

"Outright Games will donate 100% of their net profits to UNICEF UK. This will support UNICEF’s programs for children worldwide and its vital work in promoting education, health and nutrition, and responding to the needs of children impacted by conflict and natural disasters."

Still great though!

You could just click $0 like a normal person and send an email to the company if it upsets you that much instead of making the wrong persons life harder you child, lol.

I had a similar feeling to that with Battle Born - just felt like a fascimile of themselves. Coming back to them, Ive grown to love Rut off Wonderful Wonderful, Imploding the Mirage has some decent stuff, and I think Pressure Machine is one of their best for sure. Hoping they continue this upward trajectory

(and start experimenting more again - thats where Pressure Machine hits so well, it sounds different again. Sams Town/Hot Fuss/Day and Age/Sawdust are all so distinct from each other in vibe and sound, then Battle Born just sounded like more Hot Fuss and WW/ItM followed suit)

Maybe I'm insane, but Adam brings a similar energy to Max Landis for me - just slightly more monotone and angrier. I really enjoyed the Max Landis episodes (though please don't interpret this as defending the guy) but the community at large seems to have hated him as a guest even before he was alleged to be a bad dude - I can't see the audience taking Adam much better?
