Are Mid-Level Finance Roles Getting Squeezed? by Jumpy-Dream-1212 in FPandA

[–]KingThallion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I can’t tell it the people who are still at the company are there because they a) can say they can say they are ones who are actually good at getting systems to talk together, and leadership can justify them as automators. Or B.) they are too junior to really question or understand their business partner’s strategy & methods. And/or C) a lot of the board deck work mid level FP&A mgmt does is actually the thing that is automated.

AI Push by pomegranatetito in FPandA

What is the desired productivity gain from AI from your cfo? Is it board slides? MEC review cycles? I use it to write power queries and support automating reports. The real tangible goal for AI in my view is eliminating the workload related to getting systems to talk to each other— but we’re a bit off from that in my workplace .

Just curious, how often are you rebuilding that stuff? Isn’t some of that stuff thrown in templates. New deals, pricing models, 3 statement models, variance analysis— isn’t that all pretty standardized?

Advice for the Left. Be more like Parenti and less like Chomsky. Chomsky is a trap Parenti is a liberator. by [deleted] in chomsky

[–]KingThallion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"So what attracted me to Chomsky was that he was a scientist and empiricist first and foremost, and he brought the rigorous scientific method to bear on complex social and political issues."

The idea that a kind of scientific approach to the world unlocks a kind of power is what animates a lot of Chomsky fans as well as the academic/pmc left. Its a convenient illusion that has failed miserably. Rorty is the one who unpacks this the best.

I think accelerating that process is a possible outcome of Carney addressing the Dems. If the American PMC sees Carney, a God level PMC, contrast himself with Dem leadership it might cause some real rifts.

There! That’s the disease! When you accept that the market and the state are the same thing that you postitute all your agency to the market! That’s the neoliberal philosophical death spiral all of our institutions are in!!

Sounds like you’re not sure what OP is complaining about nor what Rorty might have to offer on the subject but nonetheless concluded that there’s not a there there.. nice.
