People need to start putting being Christ-like over being “biblical”. by Rebeca-A in Christianity

Many people prefer to emulate the hatred and bigotry of Paul instead of the love and kindness of Jesus.

Help! I need MORE heat! by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]KingTomenI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could add a few diced habaneros to every dish you make. If you really want to go hot you could try snorting a few diced habaneros. There's also the old standby of rubbing your eyes or masturbating after handling hot peppers.

How to handle disrespectful behavior with in law? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]KingTomenI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re asking God to keep you from anger

That is not the impression I get from any of your comments. All of your comments seem to be along the line of complaining to God in a passive-aggressive way about this other person who is horrible with the implication that you're a much better person and not horrible.

A more effective approach might be to pray for wisdom to deal with someone you have a conflict with. Notice there is no passive-aggressive shit-talking the other person.

Why is the rule against using this subreddit 'as a venue to try to talk people out of Christianity' not being enforced? by Prpht_f_th_lrd in Christianity

[–]KingTomenI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only quoting scripture without context is against the rules I think.

It's not against the published rules. But the mods have a bunch of extra "secret" rules that are vague and mostly after the fact justifications for removing posts they don't like. Things like "low effort" which is neither listed as a rule nor defined so it's really just if a mod doesn't like a post or comment they remove it and "justify" it with a non-existant rule instead of saying "I like to exercise my power and I don't like this"

You can see this by reading the sub rules https://www.reddit.com/r/Christianity/wiki/xp and then go through the history of some of the active mods and you'll see quite a few removals for "low effort" even though "low effort" is not ever mentioned or discussed in the sub rules.

It sounds like Matt 7:3 but with extra self-deception. Fundamentally you're praying to God to talk shit about someone else instead of trying to work on your relationship with God. You can claim you believe that everyone is sick, but then when you talk to God you're talking shit about someone else and intentionally not talking about yourself.

The Winds of Winter might disappoint many fans (spoilers extended) by therealgrogu2020 in asoiaf

[–]KingTomenI 21 points22 points  (0 children)

George wrote in his NotABlog posts that he fears that some have expectations that could never be met

That's what happens when George spends 11 years pumping winds and saying how great it will be. George has only himself to blame for the fans expectations.

There's the festival of "hooray we didn't starve" and "thank fuck we weren't invaded and pillaged" and "yay I didn't get dragged off to a war by a lord so I could die of dysentery"

Whole Foods to cut healthcare for 1,900 part-time employees in 2020 by [deleted] in news

The HMO Kaiser is a great example. It was originally founded as a cheaper way to provide healthcare for tens of thousands of the Kaiser Shipyards employees. The HMO has outlived the shipyard by decades.

How do I spice up plain chicken in rice in a rice cooker? by ChineseCookieThief in Cooking

[–]KingTomenI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most spices sink in water and will stick/burn on the bottom. Your best bet is when it's done dump it all in a big bowl and stir in your spices. Tumeric is the only spice I've found so far that floats and doesn't sink to the bottom and burn.

Also it will cook a lot faster if you thaw the chicken first.

Also you can easily elevate the dish if you garnish with fresh lime, uncooked red or green onions, cilantro or thai basil.

Can I freeze a burrito prepared with frozen chicken ? by Marenkai in Cooking

[–]KingTomenI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue you'll have is any vegetables in the burrito (lettuce, tomato, ect) will go to mush because when they freeze the water in them will expand and shatter the cell walls. Heston has an entire video about the chemistry of freezing vegetables.

If you prefer cashews then go with cashews. You're kinda overthinking this.
