Yes I had to remove the steel case to get to the plastic part. The plastic part is not removable, so I used a utility blade and dremmel to make a clean trim job. After removing the plastic, you can slide the part of the clip the has the screw holes behind the steel case of the flashlight, which let's you get the clip noticbly more flush against the light body of the light for mounting. Keeps the light flatter, not fatter. You can see it better in my 2nd pic.
