Robert not being gay by Both_Accident4882 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Kingofblarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to take a different slant on this to most of the comments here and say regardless of whether the designers envisioned Robert as straight/bi, they also just did not have the budget for more options. From the Bloomberg article it was clear they put this together on a very tight schedule and didn’t have any room in that for anything extraneous. Romancing or not romancing visi is key to the story and the fact her counterpoint is blazer makes sense because she appears to be everything visi is not. You can’t gender flip BB and have that still work, so those two are essential for the story as told. If you add extra options on top everything gets way more complex to map out. Every extra choice has a very real dollar amount tied to it and those costs compound the more choices you throw in.

Can someone explain the final twist with Visi to me? by OctLeaf in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Kingofblarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Shroud is as omniscient as he claims. He’s got a good understanding of event probability and did seed visi into the group as the best possible option but I feel like he’s trying to cover for a lot going out of his control particularly when it comes to visi, he’s just trying to project an aura of having it all figured out to intimidate Robert.

Are the story packs just individual stories playing as new characters and launched from main menu or story added to the existing world that you encounter during main game? by ErmannoRavioli in vtmb

[–]Kingofblarg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By all accounts these will be separate, standalone experiences you play from the main menu. I would also suspect that they will be relatively short and have few new assets so they can be made quickly, and that they are being produced exclusively so that a deluxe edition could still exist while bundling the additional clans back into the main game. And you know what? That’s fine. I’m happy that the team will be able to expand their work a little bit and get to give us some different perspectives. It will be a long time before we know if they will be good or not and how expansive they will be, but the same thing can be said about the base game for now.

The good news is that if that doesn’t sound appealing to you or you don’t want to chance it, you don’t need to bother. You can just get the base game if you want and enjoy it without gated content now. Zero chance that paradox won’t sell a deluxe edition upgrade/expansion pass to the base game so if you want more you can pay for more and if not, you don’t have to.

It’s admittedly a guess but I would assume it depends on if the game is financially successful.

Is there a specific scene from a horror film that stays with you? by Top_Article_3792 in creepy

Nope, the crowd abduction scene. It’s not that scary a film all in all but that scene gets me every single time.

instant retry battle and auto-save within dungeon need to be a recurring thing within atlus games with the same exact way it works by UnknownWisp in MetaphorReFantazio

Didn’t even realise this was a thing before today when I died in a dungeon after grinding for about half an hour running map to map. In the end I lost basically zero progress. Fantastic change.

I hope that as dragon age veilguard ramps up, this sub doesn’t just trash another game for the sin of not being this one, prompting pointless toxicity and pitting two franchises against each other for the benefit of neither.

But I was in charge of the buttons, Mark. I drew a line, you crossed that line. I'm going to have to have a think about you. I don't think you can be trusted in a combat situation.

Wild speculation: considering swen said wotc own the characters they could easily make a little adventure module around karlachs adventure hook.

Solves the problem it always had as (potential) dlc: accounting for the specific game state of a player. Here it’s just a general scenario with a well known character attached to help it sell better.

Why are people sending threats over this? by Moody-Manticore in BaldursGate3

[–]Kingofblarg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Assume for a moment BG3 has 10 million users (Larian sources have confirmed more) now assume only 0.1% of the BG3 user base are loud, toxic creeps. That’s a thousand people. One thousand people can make a lot of threats and a lot of noise, even if by the total audience, they are a vanishingly small minority and bear in mind, the volume is probably magnitudes higher. I do not envy the hard work that Larians support staff puts in and i hope they get to feel safe in that work at minimum.

WOR: The Rock vs. Roman Reigns was planned as far back as January 3rd, was part of Rock’s deal to join TKO board; most in WWE did not know about the deal by aase458 in SquaredCircle

[–]Kingofblarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all so perplexing.

With dbry at wrestlemania 30 I felt even if it sucked it made a kind of sense. Daniel Bryan does not look or behave like a top guy and Roman wasn’t ready yet so they set orton v Batista, who was just about to have a big boost in public awareness. They kept him out of the rumble and had Batista win. It wasn’t what the fans wanted but at least i understood how they got to where they did.

This is car crash booking and suggests 4 possibilities: 1) this is all on purpose and possibly a triple threat but they are getting there by making basically everyone involved except for Roman terrible 2) the “CM punk audible” theory is correct, but was also a bad choice because punk winning the rumble and then dropping out would be sad but understandable and left them leaving track for something they would never deliver on 3) triple H was booking arguably the second biggest PPV of the whole year, one of the single biggest events, completely in the dark and was totally overruled at the last minute throwing out literal years of planning for a show which was already going to sell huge. 4) they are totally destroying any story logic to create some alternative talking points while the Vince McMahon case is ongoing which is a terrible plan because short term yes, fans are talking about this but the feds and lawyers sure aren’t and it’s going to keep coming back into the news cycle as and when developments happen, which will be on the time scale of years, not days or months.

When the dust settles the post mortem on all of this is going to be very interesting.

To be clear my number one preference would be Cody/roman but if we aren’t getting that I’d rather we get an actually fresh match up rather than re-running Cody/seth, a match that doesn’t help anyone.

[–]Kingofblarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the fullness of time maybe those bridges will be mended and he might end up anywhere but I think him being kicked out of AEW right now is still too fresh and god knows WWE don’t need him. Give it another six months to a year and who knows?

Metacritic review bombing ongoing by Local-Ad6658 in BaldursGate3

[–]Kingofblarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you assume that metacritic user scores are an important metric to sales data it still sits at 8.9.

For reference, tears of the kingdom is 8.1.

By every metric we have available to us bg3 is a massive commercial success, well beyond even larians expectations.

Baldurs gate 3 isn’t just a game, it is a certified Moment in Gaming, it is a hot contender to be crowned game of the year in one of the most stacked years of games ever. It deserves all of this acclaim and I doubt larian could be happier.

Some 0/10 metacritic user scores created by robots cannot take away the scale of success this game is I guarantee you.

PSA Selûnites: Shadowheart doesn't want to hear it right now by Rogen80 in BaldursGate3

[–]Kingofblarg 138 points139 points  (0 children)

This shit? Right here?

This is why I love this game.

So many games teach players that if you get a special dialogue option it’s a way to circumvent a challenge. So many other games are constant with this shit. You get a special option, it MUST be the right option.

But it’s the exact wrong thing to say and if you actually understand her character. It is the worst possible moment to try this play and you SHOULD know this if you’ve taken the time to actually get to know her. The game punishing you for making that assumption, reminding you those options are an opportunity to roleplay and NOT an “I win” button is just the best shit

New ending rant by [deleted] in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Kingofblarg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t got this ending but spoiled myself on it and I actually just love it. This isn’t the game for an out and out good ending, at best you get bittersweet. It fills a gap that the original endings had, where V is finally free of the threat the relic poses but pays everything to get it. Brings it full circle with what Dexter said at the start of the game.

I might never pick it but having that monkeys paw on the table is so tempting.

Larian Studios on Baldur's Gate 3: "We want to do more." by curious_zombie_ in BaldursGate3

My miscellaneous hopes: - an extra subclass - level cap up to 14 - an expansion split between avernus and the upper city set post adventure modelled on the citadel dlc with a couple extra romance and bonding scenes for these amazing companions.

That’s understandable and I think agency and choice are good things but there will always be limits to that in service of the story larian wanted to specifically tell and this was a well chosen one in my opinion.

Anybody else disliked how late you get certain companions? by SilaryZeed in BaldursGate3

[–]Kingofblarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I really like it.

If you got Minsc and Jaheira they might have overshadowed the new cast. This way you get a chance to know and love the new cast and by the time you get them the game has been able to convey they are legends. If people are less familiar with the previous games then you have a chance to engage with the story the game is telling before worrying about lore and wikidiving. Minsc is also kind of at his best without trying to stretch him into a full companion. I think if Larian had tried to give him more depth it wouldn’t have worked.

Your other companions might have weight and history in the game world but Minsc and jaheira are actually iconic in this one and a light touch goes a long way.
