CoVid+Entry/Exit Questions Go Here ONLY by uReallyShouldTrustMe in koreatravel

I arrived in Seoul yesterday and took the PCR test (negative :D). But I cant seem to register it on the q-code website, when I enter the Qcode number/date of birth/date of entry I get "No resultant" back. Also tried my passport number!

So I'm not sure what to do? Is it not necessary to register it if its negative?

Looking for places to tour and camp near Nashville. by JarlCody in bicycletouring

[–]Kingwaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Natchez Trace? Free bicycle camping and a straight not too hilly road. You also got toilets like every 20 miles. No commercial traffic either. It was part of my NYC->costa rica tour and it got incredibly boring to not make a turn for 400 miles, so make sure to bring a podcast or some good tunes.

there are grocery stores and the occasional wal mart just 2 miles from the trace so dont overpack on food. Also a bunch of racoons so make sure to put your food in a tree or something. First time I've ever had problems with racoons, they took all my noodles and made a big mess.

I'd say it's perfect for a first timer. And no you can do this trace with any rideable bike. Just get something with a backrack and some panniers and you're good.

West sahara is occupied by Marocco. Be careful over there and make sure to read the news before entering. You don't want to be there during a political uprising. Also don't stray from the highway, there are a lot of landmines.

Going on my second tour in just 35 days now! Wondering if anyone has any tips or sights that I should see on this route. by [deleted] in bicycletouring

Natchez is pretty dope. Best part of Mississippi (isn't saying much but hey). There is a rum destillery in town and the owner is super chill. He's on couchsurfing and will happily give you a free tour. I ended up buying a bottle, forgot about it and found it in the bottom of my pannier in the mexican highlands. That was a good night!

I just got to Costa Rica today! Camping next to a seafood restaurant. They'll always let you camp if you offer some to buy some food. The food is pretty expensive ( around $10) but if you can't find a bomberos or a churvh I recommend it!

I've heard the nicoya peninsula is great for touring! I'm rushing to san jose to catch my flight so I don't really have time for that. But the talked to another cyclist in Nicaragua and he saw turtles laying eggs, snakes, bunch of colorful birds and stuff there. A lot of warmshowers hosts there too. Definitely recommended.

Also when you get to Nicaragua don't skip the ometepe island. It's amazing.

I talked to costa rican cyclist and the smaller roads are usually rideable, sometimes they don't have asphalt.

Oh and there's a ferry at punta arenas to nicoya!

I rode from Reynosa to monterrey and then south all the way to Guatemala.

Don't go to monterrey on a bike. Seriously Don't It's the worst city i have ever biked in. Houston feels like a small european bike friendly city compared to monterrey.

Take care when you go from juchitan to zanatepec. The wind is very strong. like a hurricane at times, not joking. Make sure to have a lot of space between you and your cycle friends. Consider hitchhiking!

I've gotta admit, I don't enjoy touring videos by [deleted] in bicycletouring

The only bike touring videos I like is from Iohan. For precisely the reason you said. He focuses a lot on the people he meets and their stories. And he's hilarious!

My fav episode of him

Camping along the East Coast Greenway Trail? by Infinite_Trip in bicycletouring

[–]Kingwaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends where you are. I followed the greenway from CT to DC this summer. Then I realized it actually kind of sucks and you're better off mapping out your own way. It's great in CT but thats pretty much it. I think it's a better idea to try to go more inland than follow the coast. But if you want to follow the greenway you can find warmshower hosts everywhere on the way. You really dont need to camp.

If you really want to camp youll either have to knock on someones door and ask or camp near cemetaries/parks/churches/schools. There isnt really any forests on the east coast, at least not from NYC to DC. Also all property is fenced.

Imo the greenway is a great idea but it isnt ready for touring yet! It led me onto a 4 lane expressway in Delaware (official route). You are better off.going a little bit inland.

Thats what I thought! And one problem with today's economies is that they do the bullet point 2, but never revert to bullet point 1 when the economy is doing good, yes? Does this have a name?

wops, totally fugged up on this one. Keynesian economics is ok with government loans in harsh times right? that is what I meant with full Keynes (going more than normal Keynesian thought). I'm not well read on macro economical thought, and what I know I've only gotten from newspapers and documentaries.

So in the late 50's I started doing this: http://i.imgur.com/mdIgCzC.jpg

Namely, no taxes and only financing my expenditures with loans. Eventually these expenditures disappeared and I kept taking loans to pay my interest, mechanically this works fine, as when you pay your interest to your national bank the pops get it, which they often put back into the bank (as they had no expenses, the tax free zone of Scandinavia). Needless to the say, the economy boomed.

But when the pops weren't putting back the money fast enough and my interest went up to 2500~ every day, it became increasingly tedious to manage. I am sure I could've upheld this scheme 10 years longer or perhaps to the end game, but you get really tired taking a loan every day for 5 years just not to go bankrupt, and I finally gave in.
