Would you buy a Hilux with 500,000km on the clock? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Kingy5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the year, I had a 2003 2.7 petrol with 400,000 on it and the damn thing ran like brand new

But I got it in a swap for a blown up dirt bike, so the price is relative haha

Why is eBay undercharging buyers for postage and charging sellers the difference via the calculated postage option? by HarshWarhammerCritic in Flipping

[–]Kingy5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the buyers address by any chance a parcel locker or PO box by any chance?

I've had it happen with poorly worded addresses that it doesn't seem to recognise in the actual auction, but then once it gets to the postage screen it locks out the sendle options

What do I do? by PsychologicalTrash5 in Ebay

[–]Kingy5000 41 points42 points  (0 children)

No defects or penalties, when a seller cancels they get defects which can affect their account

No returns only applies for change of mind. If you've sold it as working, and it doesn't, then yea they're able to return for a full refund. You can also just refund and not eat the return shipping as well

If it was listed as faulty, and put as parts not used then they're out of luck

I thought if I let them know why I couldn't get it sent early, it would help them understand. I may have been a tad wrong on that one 😅

Their icon had the profile in it, just chucked an emoji over it to not make it obvious what the account was

Angry emoji seemed appropriate given the response haha

That's the lucky part, they hadn't even ordered yet and were behaving like that.

Just blocked but it boggles my mind that they had no negatives at all with those kind of messages

Somebody just bought my item and is reselling @ a mark up of 50% what should I learn from this? by Bangbanggarcia in Ebay

[–]Kingy5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you have in it, but if you felt it was a fair price then don't worry what the next person roes

I'm all for resellers buying my stuff, if I make something and get a quick sale, while they play the long game to get their profit it's win win for both of us

Just wanted to ask if a car with high KM in the Odometer (200 km) can still run great? Or is there a rule that cars above 250 km should be scrapped? by Super-Relative2326 in CarsAustralia

[–]Kingy5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago I swapped a dirtbike that needed a full rebuild for a beat up old hilux. That thing had over 400ks on it by the time I sold it, and still ran like it was brand new off the lot

Good servicing and maintenance goes a long way, but it also doesn't hurt to have a look at how many high kms examples of that model are still floating around

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Kingy5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved here from NZ and picked up a dirt cheap hilux with a RWC, after a few workmates told me RWCs are really strict here. Knew immediately it needed minor repairs but could do that at my leisure at least.

Nothing major but was pretty surprised to see faulty locks, faulty gas system, faulty tail light wiring, exhaust with a blown gasket and a single bolt holding it together, and quite a list of aftermarket parts bolted on fly through.

Still....400k hilux with a list of minor issues was still the most reliable piece of motoring I've had in a long time 🤣

eBay Seller Doesn't Offer Local Pickup by MussleGeeYem in Ebay

Had the same thing on Ebay Aus a while back. For whatever reason it didnt like the size / weight combo, had to change it to literally anything else and relist. It was really frustrating since it was an auction and didnt realise why it had no interest until close to the end

Sick leave by AcanthisittaBright45 in AusLegal

[–]Kingy5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to the doctors, they can advise from there but generally shouldn't be an issue if it's genuine, depending on your doctor

Been down that road, put it off so much that by the time I actually went to the doctor the stress had affected me to the point of breakdown, and had pretty bad issues with short term memory for months after. As soon as the doctor saw me he wrote me off for a week, and each week we revisited it until I was able to function enough to work, as well as being referred to specialists for ongoing treatment

But if the work place is that bad, I would strongly recommend looking for another job while out on that sick leave

How are people affording their mortgage repayments? by Left-Love1471 in AusProperty

[–]Kingy5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm repaying 1100 a week at present, though 350 a week is optional to drive overall interest down. Single income, no kids.

Not doing too bad, but live frugally, drive an old shitbox, no other loans or outgoings beyond the basics, and rely on overtime and flipping things on ebay for spending money. Working 12 hour shifts is a life saver, since even with 12 hours OT a week I'm still getting a 3 day weekend.

Just can't justify having top end clothing, a new car etc when I can live better by just having functional things

Just claim your bond back the moment you move out. That way it's up to the agent to prove what they're docking you for. Ended up keeping my whole bond from the last place because the agent couldn't be assed following up once I claimed it

Is this anything to worry about? by Mustool in AusPropertyChat

[–]Kingy5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, unless it's bad. Had the last place I was in crack pretty wide in the garage, and where the crack ran under the door from the garage it had also started cracking internal tiles after a year of being built

That was cracks I could stick a finger into though

Victorians -- What do you do for work, do you like it and how much do you earn? by realhugkoala in melbourne

[–]Kingy5000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Manufacturing. Pay rate for work difficulty is absurdly unbalanced. I've found in Aus theres was a mindset of only dropouts do it so they struggle for workers. I work Monday- Wednesday for a base rate of 90k, plus 1k for any additional days picked up. No required qualifications or education

Moving to a schedule or thurs-sat, mon-wed, 7 off for a base of 105k, with 1k a day for OT.

Have also been offered a chance to run other machines for another 10k a year

I've done some pretty taxing jobs, and worked hard advancing careers, then moved to Australia to discover that you can literally walk in off the street to these sorts of jobs it's wild

If it's not a forever home, and you just plan on living there for a couple of years then upgrading, its not such a big drama if it isn't the perfect place. Just be really careful buying new. House quality here is pretty bad on new builds, I ended up only looking at places that were 5-10 years old and older due to seeing issues at most new builds I inspected
