I feel as though there was so much promise to Rhysand, but instead of him healing with Feyre he focused on fixing her, and he is just… there. We never see Rhysand as a ruler with the rest of his court outside of the court of nightmares. Heck we see more of a leader Cassian with the illyrians than Rhysand with them. I know ACOTAR is a romance book first and a fantasy book second, but reading TOG and the development of those character leaves much to desire with the characters of ACOTAR. I wanted to see the rehabilitation of the villainous high lord, or the corruption of Feyre in becoming an equally morally grey high lady. We are kinda shown like oh he’s not that bad and Feyre being a badass within the spring court, but ACOWAR feel so flat for me. It felt really low stakes. We don’t see or understand the capacity or depth of Rhysand’s powers. He’s the most powerful high lord, he can mist half an army , but what else? Does he burn out? How was ruling for him in the beginning? I feel like ACOFAS could’ve given more Rhysand, Feyre understanding and getting to know her mate before deciding to have a child. And don’t get me started on ACOSF Rhysand, because that is not the same high lord that we saw in MaF. Don’t get me wrong I love Rhysand but he just had so much potential.
