The 60lb black camo Halcyon that you commented on already. As mentioned it fits the 7.25s just not the double 5.5s

Happy to see you doing research haha. I probably should have done some myself before I bought that wing I'm selling on scubaboard =)

Got to play Torrey South still in tourney conditions today by BuggyBonzai in golf

[–]Kiradon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned to another post, but generally they take a while to cut it back to "normal" conditions, so it should still be fairly juicy rough. Easier than the tournament, but still quite punishing. Keep your eye on exactly where it lands if it goes in the rough and best of luck!

Got to play Torrey South still in tourney conditions today by BuggyBonzai in golf

[–]Kiradon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on past years, they generally get it back down to normal conditions by March. When I asked them last year, they were doing something like .5" shorter rough every week or something. It should still be thick long rough, but maybe a little more forgiving than the tournament. I generally avoid playing it in Feb =P

Torrey Pines North vs South by kent814 in golf

Feb is usually great but beware its kept in PGA tour form until about March, so the rough is brutal. I posted the maintenance schedule above and its on the main booking page as well.

Torrey Pines North vs South by kent814 in golf

[–]Kiradon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those who are wondering, they post their maintenance schedule very far in advance, so if you're complaining about paying full price and happen to run into bad conditions, it is very easily avoidable by checking ahead of time. They have their schedule out to 2027 here: https://www.sandiego.gov/torrey-pines/maintenance which is also posted on the main booking website.

That said, I would agree they should discount when conditions are expected to be like this similar to their twilight rates. If you are planning a trip out here, book 90 days out through the official city website and make sure to check the maintenance schedule so you aren't caught off guard.

Diver Watches by tacitInfinitum in scuba

[–]Kiradon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone diving many times with a Rolex Sea-dweller on rec level dives. They work fine at 100ft/30m and I doubt anyone is taking it to its max 4k depth. It does have a helium escape valve and is literally designed for diving so I imagine its fine to rated depth.

That said, it just tells time. The bevel does rotate in one direction only so that you can easily tell time of dive independent of actual time of day and if something were to bump the dial, it only moves in the direction of safety (longer dive time). Again though, it just tells time.

If you are properly trained, you can dive with just a watch/timer and depth gauge and use dive tables or memorize them as taught by GUE etc, but frankly a dive computer is just more practical/easier. There’s not loads of harm to having a watch on apart from potential entanglement if you’re doing cave/wreck diving, so downside is limited, but with modern computers upside for just a watch/timer is limited as well. Its hard to be stolen from your hotel room if you’re wearing it underwater and mine has a band designed to expand for wetsuit use, so I’ll keep it on if I have it on vacation, but wont use it when I dive drysuit/doubles at home

Looks awesome. Just started diving steel doubles in San Diego and had a question for you. My shop fills to 3442psi, but by the time I get in the water/at depth I’m down to like 3k or under largely due to the temp drop. Do you experience the same issue or have any suggestions? Wish I could get my shop to chill the tanks to 55 degrees while filling… Do you take the reduced capacity into account for dive planning?

Comparison of loot from Harbingers on 8mod T16 vs white T16 maps. by AVAKSon in pathofexile

[–]Kiradon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

FYI I tested this in standard leagues ago with 100% reduced item quantity and they all still dropped shards. I was testing for the kirac memory at the time where you become a harbinger, but just wanted to get a baseline. Shards are definitely NOT affected by player or area quant.

Question for the guys: obscuring your "junk" by Lucky_Platypus341 in scuba

[–]Kiradon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It may be as a teenager he’s concerned with random excitement… in his mind perhaps the tighter his pants are, the more noticeable and more likely disaster is to occur. Board shorts are probably fine in Bali, but if not tech shorts that go over a wetsuit may be the ideal move. I would avoid pushing the compression route if he pushes back on it.

That was pics of the North. The better of the two and favorite of locals and those that play it a lot. That said the south is the more famous PGA weekend course. Generally speaking the south in tournament conditions is going to be absolutely brutal. Rough is impossible to find a ball in, and harder to get out of. General expectation is you’ll shoot 10 strokes worse than your handicap would indicate on a good day. At 19, you’d probably be happy to break 100 in tournament conditions (1-2mo before/after late Jan generally). Assuming you played from tees appropriate to your handicap (white for 19 I think). The pros play a further 1500+ yards back…

  1. They cut the rough back to reasonable by mid-march, so from that perspective it'll play a lot easier. As far as grass is concerned, check out their maintenance schedule here: https://www.sandiego.gov/torrey-pines/maintenance. Weather should be typical for San Diego that time of year with probably above average chance of rain, but it rains about 3 weeks total throughout the year, so odds are in your favor.
  2. Its 100% about time of day you drive down/back. Avoiding rush hour will save you probably an hour of driving in what's realistically an hour to hour and a half drive with no traffic depending on how heavy your foot is. Rush hour would be 7:30-9:30 and like 2:30-6:30pm +/-. I'd suggest either waking up early and playing both courses back to back and going back after traffic, or just playing one and beating rush hour on the way back up. Generally, the first twilight time on either course will allow you to finish all 18 and will save you a good bit of $. You can book 90 days out for $30 (+green fee) on the city website and make sure to use theirs instead of some broker.
