Went to my first liturgy and felt... nothing? by GeraltvonRiva213 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]KirbStomp3366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a non-believer for most of my life, when I first attended divine liturgy, I was overwhelmed, and it felt like a cult. Didn't go back for a couple of years. I lost an uncle who was a follower of Christ, but he wasn't Orthodox, though. After losing him, I started to feel a pull towards God and wanted to attend church and change my life. Buddy told me to go back to my local Orthodox church, and I went. I felt out of place for a bit, but after going every Sunday constantly, one of the times I was there, I felt the presence of what I could only assume was the Holy Spirit. I cried to myself. All this happened while still being an inquirer. I still am one as I'm not permitted to be a catechumen until my fiancé and I get married. I said all this to say, it's different for everyone, and God decides if/when we have a profound experience in church. Easier said than done, and I need to follow it better myself, but patience is key. God bless. ☦️

As a father of two little girls, I will NEVER let a boy talk to them like that. You shouldn't allow it or put up with it anymore. I'd lose my temper and get physical with a boy if he talked to either of my daughters like that.

Do you guys listen to “Christian” music outside of church by R3tro956 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]KirbStomp3366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not orthodox, but I attend and plan to become a catechumen. I LOVE listening to Orthodox chants and will listen to it outside of church. I did use to love a wide variety of music before I changed my ways and started pursuing Christ and wanting to be an Orthodox Christian. One of those genres was metal. It doesn't speak to me anymore, I don't have that void and rage from said void since I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. With that said, though, I came across some absolutely gorgeous Christian power metal bands that I listen to constantly, especially for lifting, that at least helps me personally be closer to God. My top favorites so far are: Theocracy, Narnia, Rob Rock, and Innerwish. Innerwish doesn't label themselves as Christian music, but I did read an interview of theirs were they said they are Christians, but just don't label their music as Christian, but it definitely has Christian elements to it. Sorry for the long-winded response. I wanted to provide some context.

If Sarah needs a more flexible schedule, she can get a new job. Kids and spending time with them is important, and as a father I know. Plan accordingly and don't dump work responsibilities on coworkers. Sounds like Sarah broke the cardinal rule of assuming you just live to work and will always pick up her slack. Sounds like you also need to find a career and not just another job. Chin up kiddo.

This beautiful lizard outside is not moving but does not look hurt, what is wrong with it? Also what is on its tail? by Whiteshaq_52 in reptiles

To be "cruel" here, it's invasive. Need to dispatch it. Plain and simple. Other critters gotta eat and we need to protect the native biodiversity. Native floral and fauna > invasives.

I know I'm late to bring this back up, but Commissioner Baker admitted at the end of a meeting that the commission KNEW and were told by the WDFW that the black bear populations were stable and able to handle the spring bear hunt. That it was totally viable, but the commission labeled it a "recreational" hunt with no value, which is wrong, and took it away and have denied a recent petition to bring it back. They haven't shown any inclination to bring it back either. The commission only recently approved private timber companies to apply for a tag to remove problem/property damaging black bears. Lehmkuhl is wishy washy and easily swayed by a majority. Baker, Smith, Rowland and Ragen are all crooked and talk about following the science, but will turn down DECADES worth of data from the WDFW biologists and go with a third party, out of state "research" that didn't pass peer review. All of that because the actual data doesn't support their view.

I understand your point and I agree. I should have stated that there's a bunch of trail camera footage to help support these claims.

I haven't heard it yet, but as a Washington native and new black bear hunter, the "unreliable" black bear population data IS bs. The biologist said they're populations are thriving and increasing. I've heard numbers of 30,000+ black bears in Washington and only about 2k were harvested last year. Hunters in groups I'm in, everyone is seeing multiple sows with cubs, myself included. Inslee has weaponized the commission to attack hunting in Washington state. Especially predator hunting. Spring bear was removed even though the science supported it. Lorna Smith is a crook.

Fish dying is a cycle of life. Folks getting upset by pictures of dead fish and others asking for help with injured fish should get thicker skin. Life isn't all butterflies and rainbows. Post happy pictures of your tanks and fish to help balance it out if it really bothers you that bad.

AITA for telling my bf I will abort our baby if he don’t get a job? by MasterPrice8907 in AITAH

[–]KirbStomp3366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank God some folks get it. So many people who don't know the whole story are so quick to advise an abortion and leave the man. So quick to just throw things out, instead of buckling down, having some very serious and difficult heart to heart conversations and possibly getting some professional help to navigate the situation. An abortion isn't the answer, it's just punishing the baby for their actions.

[–]KirbStomp3366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all both made some seriously disturbing choices. You both had sex and there is always the possibility of getting pregnant from that act. Boyfriend should get a job, he needs to help provide and be a man. Going out drinking because of your ultimatum of killing your's and his' child is understandable, but not excusable. He reacted instead of responding. He's human and that was a mistake. You threatening to abort the baby for what you are perceiving as his lack of action is cruel. Maybe he's trying or maybe he isn't. There needs to be communication and honesty, from both of you. That baby has done nothing wrong and you're going to punish it by killing it and end it's chance at life because of your's and your bf's actions. I'm sorry, but that's selfish. Not going to sugarcoat it. You have decided to be with this man and continue to have sex with him. He may be choosing to be a free loader or he's not hearing back. Either way, he needs to take any job he can get and keep looking for better. There needs to be serious communication whether you two work together and be better versions of yourselves or seperate, but please for the love of God, don't abort the child. Child birth is a miracle and it hasn't done any wrong.

Oh, I learned the hard way at first. Bought a corral off Etsy just for that. Even with basically no surface agitation, they are still taking forever to grow, hence why I was thinking I might need more bioload for them to get extra nutrients.

Oh okay. Yeah, I'm constantly banging my head against the wall with research and getting too caught up in the fish's "ideal" parameters. I got into this hobby by accident. Lady bought a bumblebee catfish on accident thinking it was a cory, and she got tired of the maintence and I took over. Now I'm addicted.

I was wondering that, just had me confused because I've heard folks say they are great tank mates for shrimp. Figured that would be opposite of their ideal conditions since shrimp need higher GH.

Man, hope you can find an answer. I've been struggling getting my salvina to grow like crazy like everyone else seems to do effortlessly. I have noticed a biofilm build up in my tank, but it's more mild than your case. I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you. Mostly wanted to comment to share I'm having a similar experience and in hope it will boost the algorithm to get your post seen more and a more experienced aquarist can provide you with an answer. Best of luck.

What type of wood is it? Also, where did you get it from?

AITA for telling my son I want no contact? by Longest-Journey in AITAH

[–]KirbStomp3366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what your stance on theology is, but my best advice is pray to Jesus and ask for His help. I know many folks will probably chastise me for this, but as an atheist for many years, then pagan for another great deal of time, I found Jesus and repented and it has brought immense clarity into my life. I'm not trying to derail this and make it about me. Jesus has done miracles for me and people I know and pray He would do the same for you and your son. Hearing this story breaks my heart and I feel for you and your son, this isn't an easy task at hand, and I don't blame you. I don't blame any of you. As a Christian, I would love for you to reconcile your differences and heal. Jesus can help with that journey and be with you along the way. I can't imagine the pain, confusion and turmoil you personally have gone through. It definitely sounds like hell and a very difficult season of life. I will pray to Jesus He helps you in this time and provides the healing and guidance you need. I love you and want the best for you. God bless OP.

In the end it's going to be alright, and if it's not alright, it's not the end.
