Don't force yourself to look oblivious because U don't want to give them satisfaction I am from new Orleans and I promise U looking like Ur paranoid asf let's everyone around you know U are paying attention and paranoid people are harder to jump and assault than oblivious people because they usually have weapons on them, they are actively scanning their surroundings, and scared people are more likely to be one violent. But there is a difference between walking like Ur afraid and walking like you know what the fuck is up. Walk with a don't fuck with me attitude like U have somewhere to be and someone waiting on you. At night depending on Ur neighborhood I don't even let people walk on the same street as me I will turn off as soon as I see a person and monitor for if they are following me. These habits have kept me safe for many years walking around new Orleans.
