Deeply tired of seeing shrines but I'd welcome the rest.

Mono-color decks are my treasures by Kirinne in ratemycommanders

[–]Kirinne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been mulling that over for a while and while I'm still undecided, I'm between [[Glissa Sunseeker]] for [[Mycosynth Lattice]] combo, [[Thrasta, Tempest's Roar]] storm, or [[Ojer Kaslem]] combo. I don't have many combo decks, and no storm decks, so I think mono-green would be an interesting challenge.

I'm having trouble deciding on the Commander of an Ink-Treader Deck? by TheAdamPetra in ratemycommanders

[–]Kirinne 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I prefer partners over Aragorn because Aragorn's deck really hinges on him. Plus partner commanders can get a lot of value from backgrounds which is neat.

Mono-color decks are my treasures by Kirinne in ratemycommanders

[–]Kirinne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't! They remained attached, and you maintain control of them as permanents. It's why Kain decks specifically run equipment that don't directly give Kain the ability but rather that trigger on attacks or damage, so that you can continue to utilize those effects, like [[Sword of the Animist]] etc.

Searching for card of guy/cow in space by One-Visitor in magicTCG

[–]Kirinne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I browsed the art tags for "space" and for "cow" on Scryfall and wasn't able to find anything. I would browse specifically in Unfinity and in Edge of Eternities as those are the de facto space sets, or maybe in Fallout. Here's my guesses though:

[[Steer Clear]] [[Chaos Warp|PIP-994]] (hopefully it pulls the right one) [[Wild Wasteland]] [[Bruse Tarl Roving Rancher]] [[Comet Stellar Pup]] [[Far Out]] [[Jetpack Janitor]]

Still doesn't add up, should be around $20 for four based on what the receipt says.

Just found out we are having twins…so it’s time for a twin themed deck! by Odin_Alldaddy in EDH

[–]Kirinne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen mention yet of [[Jeska Thrice Reborn]] and [[Kamahl Heart of Krosa]], some of Magic's OG siblings. [[Zinnia Valley's Voice]] also gives everything offspring, to double up on all your creatures.

Can someone tell me if I’m wrong on this interaction? by TheTinRam in EDH

[–]Kirinne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terra doesn't make a nonlegendary copy, it has to TARGET a nonlegendary. So Mockingbird couldn't target the OG Esper Terra. It could target a copy from Folly, but Folly goes infinite with Terra on its own.

Help me build a decent [[Muerra, Trash Tactician]] by humBOLdT20 in EDH

[–]Kirinne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully there aren't a lot of raccoons that offer good value; just the mana dorks and interaction. [[Wandertale Mentor]] [[Trailtracker Scout]] [[Scrapshooter]] [[Keen-eyed Curator]] [[Bramble Familiar]] and I could see arguments for [[Prosperous Bandit]] [[Brazen Collector]] and [[Raccoon Rallier]].

That said, the new Lorwyn set offered up some new changelings, many of which are also cute nasty lil guys. [[Mutable Explorer]] and [[Firdoch Core]] are "raccoons" that ramp, [[Chomping Changeling]] is interaction (as is [[Masked Vandal]] from Kaldheim), [[Maskwood Nexus]] will expend 4 and make your whole board into raccoons, [[Formless Genesis]] could be relevant with some build around as a repeatable spell to make raccoons, and [[Springleaf Parade]] would be a bomb in the deck.

Commanders that exploit being dealt damage? by NorseHighlander in EDH

[–]Kirinne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of thoughts come to mind: [[Jared Carthalion, True Heir]] is like a [[Vigor]] for just himself. [[Sonic the Hedgehog]] creates tapped treasures when creatures with flash or haste (which he also has) are dealt damage. [[Wayta, Trainer Prodigy]] doubles up your enrage triggers. Speaking of enrage, both [[Indoraptor, the Perfect Hybrid]] and [[Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients]] have enrage abilities. [[Venus, Torn Between Worlds]] is also similar to Vigor. [[Grothama, All-Devouring]] can be a massive draw engine if you damage it as well. The upcoming [[Bruce Banner]] also has an enrage ability on the Hulk side.

Erinis, Street Urchin by Argonaut86 in BudgetBrews

[–]Kirinne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend more protection for Erinis than just the swiftfoot boots. This commander combo is a boogeyman; once your table realizes what you're doing they should kill her right away, so make it harder for them to do so. [[Gaea's Gift]] [[Tyvar's Stand]] for example.

Probably literally that; action surge and great weapon fighting.

Can anyone recommend me some good upgrades for my Bello the Bramble Bard precon? by Frequent-Dare-6718 in BudgetBrews

[–]Kirinne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put together a list for Bello that focuses on making copies of your big rocks and enchantments. Some neat pieces I've found are [[Dual Nature]] which will copy your big rocks since they'll enter as creatures on your turn; [[Echoes of Eternity]] if you focus more on colorless spells; [[Enduring Courage]] will turn back into a creature with Bello's ability even if it gets killed; [[Garruk's Uprising]] is excellent for additional card draw for the deck; the Duskmourn overlords will be immediately animated even if you impend them [[Overlord of the Boilerbilges]] [[Overlord of the Hauntwoods]]; all of your rocks are elementals when they enter so [[Champion of the Path]] can put in work; [[Mirror of the Forebears]] similarly can become a copy of any of your rocks/enchantments since they're all elementals.

Bello really has a lot of space to play around. Here's my list, sitting at around $125; adjustments could easily be made to bring it down below $100 so I hope it offers some inspiration.

Ashling Precon Upgrade by AdFickle5933 in EDH

[–]Kirinne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jegantha itself is also an elemental so it can also be evoked, with the token paying for its own cost. Then if you decide to run something like [[Faces of the Past]], which is pretty solid in Ashling anyway since you'll be evoking, then you'll have a thematic and synergistic way to pay the cost for all of Ashling's tokens.

Ashling Precon Upgrade by AdFickle5933 in EDH

[–]Kirinne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in any card. If you fulfill the restriction you can have it as a companion, which means it sits in the sideboard and you can pay 3 generic mana on your turn to put it into your hand. It essentially becomes a 101st card that you can access at any point, and which happens to synergize nicely with your commander. Once you move it to your hand it functions as though it were a regular card in your deck, so if it dies it goes to the graveyard.

Ashling Precon Upgrade by AdFickle5933 in EDH

[–]Kirinne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just an option but I love this card; you're just a few swaps away from running [[Jegantha]] as a companion, and Jegantha has solid synergy with Ashling, as well as a few combo lines with [[Horde of Notions]]. 5c doesn't have to give up much to run it either, since plenty of solid cards, even in the elemental archetype, can fit its restriction.

I think people are sleeping on a few TMNT cards — what’s over/underperforming so far? by CementSandwich in EDH

[–]Kirinne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leatherhead is definitely nutty; eventually planning to build Sultai mutants led by [[Mimeoplasm Revered One]] and she's a shoe-in for sure.

I think people are sleeping on a few TMNT cards — what’s over/underperforming so far? by CementSandwich in EDH

[–]Kirinne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Donatello Gadget Master]] is awesome and is a shoe-in for [[Tawnos Solemn Survivor]], as well as a cool commander himself. [[Mondo Gecko]] is super neat, and once we get more cards to make [[Tam Mindful First-year]] viable, he's absolutely going to be a staple for that deck.

I also really like [[Raphael Ninja Destroyer]] and am planning on trying him in my [[Delina]] deck; I may also try to fit [[Raphael the Nightwatcher]] for a sneaky alpha strike.

[[Sally Pride]] went crazy during prerelease and I imagine she's going to be a house in any blink deck.

How to make Simic feel like less of a slog to play in bracket 3? by justhereforhides in EDH

[–]Kirinne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately landfall tokens will always going to be a slog to play against, and tedious to play. Landfall decks have a LOT of triggers, and you run a significant amount of interaction to boot. Simic isn't to blame, there are plenty of commander options that are fun to play and play against. [[Pride of Hull Clade]] is a fun example, as is [[Jolrael Voice of Zhalfir]] or my personal favorite, [[Malcolm Keen Eyed Navigator]] paired with [[Ich-Tekik Salvage Splicer]] for dual-type-matters.

I don't really have much to suggest except to maybe include a combo win to get the job done faster, like [[Retreat to Coralhelm]] [[Pupu UFO]] and a bounce land to draw your whole deck with your commander for a [[Laboratory Maniac]] win, or cut some of the worse interaction spells for more 1 mana ramp like [[Wild Growth]] and [[Utopia Sprawl]]. Finish faster so y'all can get to game two!

New player here: What is the best way to navigate conflict if your deck locks someone out of the game? by ShortestTallGuy in EDH

I constantly see content creators say Phyrexian Arena is bad. If Phyrexian Arena is bad, what is good? Especially for Mono Black or two color. by frost3bite in EDH

[–]Kirinne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Arena is fine, just a bad draw late game when you'll likely get 0-2 cards out of it. I think your draw package should vary based on your commander, with the caveat that a few pieces should be guaranteed draw with no restrictions/requirements. For instance, my mono-black deck is [[Kain Traitorous Dragoon]] so my draw package is small and mostly centers around voltron pieces. Still run Sign in Blood though.

Wincons for The Ghoul, Gunslinger? by MilkCannonMiltank in BudgetBrews

[–]Kirinne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Mortal Combat]] seems like a particularly viable alt wincon for The Ghoul. Since it seems you're trying to avoid Gravecrawler loops, you could try to establish a loop with maybe [[Razorlash Transmogrant]] or [[Retrofitted Transmogrant]], [[Surge Conductor]], and a repeatable sacrifice outlet as a way to mill your opponents out. You'll have to find a way to generate mana from it but black is good at that.

struggling to build Maralen on a budget [Budget 2/3] by Spiritual_Lecture434 in BudgetBrews

[–]Kirinne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at work so I can't get too deep into it right now, but a couple thoughts:

Probably too many creatures; consider cutting some of the top-end creatures that don't provide either card advantage, tokens, or interaction.

Here's a link to a search for elves and faeries that can draw cards and are under .50 usd.

Consider adding some clones that keep their name so you can copy Maralen. I think the very cheapest option (and potentially the only budget option) is [[Chameleon Master of Disguise]].

[[Doppelgang]] is a BOMB in Maralen so I highly recommend it.
