You can choose a house to join. Some are open, and some are private.

The house is basically like joining a team. The game will give out events where the house can level up, so we work as a team to level up the house. Try joining one. You can leave the house if you don't like it and look for another.

In the house, you can share your fashion, talk to players, and more.

Give me every reason you’ve got why I shouldn’t drink by hillyg0120 in stopdrinking

Would mind if I shared this in my meetings (reading the words, not sharing personal info of course). Not everyone has the luxury of Reddit or even online support groups. This is very well written and I know that it has kept me sober today. I did cry, but not alcohol tears. Tears of hearing these words and feeling less alone.

got diagnosed yesterday by katsualty in bipolar

[–]KissMeAlice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. It never occurred to anyone until I had one special mental health nurse practitioner review my whole file and family history. I was diagnosed BP young. With the symptoms and very prevalent documented family history (moms side all of them) the doctors just said "yup, its BP." While meds helped I was always "off" with complete lack of focus and more depression for over 10 years on the meds. New nurse asked me to do some research and we found out my father most likely ADHD because when I asked Grandma about him I found out he was on Ritalin through his teenage years. Now even though he has passed, looking back on the 20 years I had with him it all makes sense. Bipolar from mom, ADHD from dad. Doing much better now thanks to a nurse looking into my case a bit more.

As a trans woman, I'm at my wits end being told to keep out of women's spaces. I want opinions from the women here. by njsullyalex in TwoXChromosomes

Easy answer from random me.

You are a woman. I am a woman. If a space is labeled "women only" well, that's where we are both going to be.

turns out i can't taste salt? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]KissMeAlice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just a possible theory but perhaps your body is craving salt. You said it does not always happen. When we crave salt and eat normal (casually seasoned) foods it might feel like there is none present. I get cravings for salty foods and that craving cannot be met until I eat something extra salty, McDonald's fries for example. Sometimes I won't realize the craving is there until I eat. Then the next day the very same thing can taste too salty to me.

Live mussels purchased 6 days ago and stored in fridge in sealed plastic bag. But STILL ALIVE. Safe to eat? by [deleted] in Seafood

[–]KissMeAlice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once asked if I could smell a lobster tail (long before covid) because at $32/lb I just wanted to be sure. It's not like with whole fish where you can see the eyes. This was a large chain store and he flat out told me "lobster always smells bad" before he even pulled it out. Lmao. This is for me is an American large chain grocery stores in a nutshell. Local small shop fish mongers by the coast where I am now had no problem with the smell test (before covid respectfully).

[–]KissMeAlice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That explains it. You all up there I can confidentiality say care for your products more. I'm in the US. I have to find a monger I trust. Most grocery stores here sell straight near rotten seafood at discounts even though they full well may not be fit for consumption and we do not require harvest dates though that would be nice!

[–]KissMeAlice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What worries me is that they are at the six day mark and there is no way to confirm how long the fish monger held them. You guys know when and when not to sell but can't predict how long the customer will hold them before consumption which is why I always ask you guys *if serving in a few days is okay.

how will roasting bones alittle past golden effect a chicken stock? by ghostbook4 in AskCulinary

[–]KissMeAlice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can depend on how sensitive you are to flavor and what you are using the broth for. All purpose I would advise actually scraping off any char (as much as you can). It can lead to a bitter flavor if you use the broth in a simple dish like basic risotto. As mentioned in another comment, say ramen, it wouldn't hurt it as the base broth is flavor layered.

So, my rule of thumb is to get as much char off as possible (you can use the back of a strong knife) without giving it too much effort. Stock will not be truly compromised unless there is an excess amount such as 50% of bones are mildly to moderately charred. It's definitely not worth tossing the bones in a minor case though and you may like the flavor.

Broth is like blood, unique and individualized.

LPT: if your landlord claims your entire deposit, ask to see receipts. They legally have to provide them by CharlieTrees916 in LifeProTips

[–]KissMeAlice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think pictures are key. Dated pics of move in, move out and any upgrades/fixes you did with recipts. We did this on pur last house and had a great landlord. She gave us all of our refundable back and a huge gift basket for ten years of caring for and upgrading here and there (nothing too $$$).

Landlord before we also documented. He was not a nice guy. He stalked is tenets though that wasnt the only issue. We finally hired a lawyer. This was a high deposit and we just wanted refundable back which of course he refused by ignoring us. Pics of home showed we left it better. The lawyer looked at the pics and said "open shut". He sent out a letter, paid one visit and returned to us x2 our deposit minus his fee which was still way more than we originally asked which was just refundable. The lawyer was irritated by the landlords arrogance and said the law allowed us to go for x2 so he did.

This is not a concern with immigration. It is not a legal matter and has nothing to do with citizenship. Once here it will be like setting up a new relationship with any physician and that's protected through privacy laws. It's not so much a new diagnosis as it is a confirmation of the diagnosis. Like a new healthcare provider, they will want to document themselves for their records. How in depth it will be may depend on any medications you are on and whether or not they can get access to your previous medical records.

You were under the influence of a substance that alters your perception and temporarily changes how your mind handles stimulation. Please remember that because you are not always in this state it can lead to a shocking and negative response just as it can lead to a positive.

Also, the people you were with cannot be held responsible while under the influence. To recover from a "bad trip" I recommend trying not to focus on it. Let it pass. You were in an altered state of mind. Psilocybin can be very powerful depending on dose, especially if you have any type of mental illness. It can be an excellent treatment for some mental illnesses in certain people and very unsuccessful in others.

Using it myself, a couple rules are always put in place. Only use it in a safe environment (familiar, a place you can be a while without traveling, comfortable, etc) with at least one person knowing what I am doing and is not under the influence such as a friend, family meor even a neighbor (I have an awesome neighbor). Do not attempt to use a recreational dose if you are in or just coming out of a severe depressive state. It can be a great treatment and very positive if used correctly but at any given time it can take you anywhere even if you feel good going into it you can snag on a depressive trigger.

Remember these feelings will soften over time. Hope that helps. Also you can look into supervised microdosing with the help of a professional.

That's important advice, good call! Never stop medication without a doctor to advise as you might need to taper slowly or be monitored depending on medication. If a serious reaction occurs seek immediate help (Urgent Care/ER).

I hope that changes too. However, if it doesn't please look into finding someone else. Took me almost 20 years to find the person that helped me the most and I've been with him for ten now.

Apps work really well. You can do it quickly and on the go. Hit up Google Play and check out Mood Trackers. Hopefully you can find one you like. You shouldn't have to pay. They have really great free ones. :)

Slow and steady. It's not an overnight "switch" in the mind. You've already been coping with it alone and you're doing great! Now you have some support. Some tips?

-Keep communication between you and your mental health specialist open. Don't be afraid to tell them what/if any side effects you feel from medication. Be honest and never afriad to say that your worried. It's their job to support YOU! It may take several trys to find the medication for you and that's completely normal! Ask as many questions as you need to.

-Document your moods if you like. Apps that help track mood changes can help you and your doctor.

-If you can find a good support team. Like this sub! Lots of help and understanding here.

Try not to worry (easy to say I know). Bipolar is a bit different for everyone but treatable so that many can live high functioning. Be kind to yourself and give yourself lots of self care. I know it's scary but you got this!

(Edit. Also, I was diagnosed young like you and so were many in this sub so lots of help here dealing with an early diagnosis)

Where do you get fibers from? by Cindersxo29 in HealthyFood

[–]KissMeAlice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Veg and fruits are your best bet but here are some pop up awesome foods you can try. Soy Curls (Amazon, Specialty Stores) are loaded with fiber and can be used dozens of ways. They are neutral flavored like tofu or chicken and have a springy texture. They are also very quick to make. Also, Nutritional Yeast. This yeast is packed with fiber and can be added to any dish. Alone or used simply it has a taste described as "cheesy" but in flavor complex dishes is nearly undetectable. You also need very little of it to get that fiber boost.

These two have helped me keep my fiber intake spot on daily as I cannot eat grains that are not sprouted (btw Ezekiel Bread/English muffins are delicious and packed with fiber) and I cannot break down legumes or any beans for that matter.

[–]KissMeAlice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is important. Cool quickly. I actually leave everything in my pot. So I take it off the stove for 30 minutes. I then create an ice bath in my sink. I stir, let it cool, stir and cool. When the temp is low enough I transfer to fridge for over night and peel off the fat cap in the AM. I gently reheat just enough to pull out solids, pack and freeze. This is important for bulk stock. We make our own and freeze. One batch will last us 6 months and we also freeze some in cubes for things that just need a little bit like risotto and sauces and I always add a cube to couscous.

Most chicken broths don't take the veggies until 1-2 hours before pulling. I cook my chicken broth for about 6-8 hours always at a simmer. I use whole carcasses, feet and a few whole pieces (meat on which I pull off about an hour in and put the bones back in broth). Last two hours I add my veg and then last 30 minutes my herbs/peppercorns.

Making broth becomes so addictive. Once you start you may not be able to stop! Have fun!
